MF Ghost has concluded and Initial D fans seem disappointed because it was a bad successor. Wangan Midnight will not leave you disappointed. It uses incredible CGI and the MC an OP kid who drives an old boat, like AE86.

MCs portrayed as "dangerous Delinquents" when in reality they're attempting to better themselves because they''ve been lacking social relations throughout their lives. Beastars initally becomes heavy in romance, then shifts into several different genres such as mystery, action, discrimination etc. It especially explores a complex world-builidng where carnivore and herbivore deal with each other and there's many elements that have never been done in anime/manga. Fragrant Flower doesn't involve literal sluts and heavy topics, while it does progress with your typical anime tropes, it's still a charming character-driven romance that also goes in depths of other adorable characters. The melodramatic moments honestly makes this a laid-back read with unique art.

Aesthetically appreciated shows from the 90s that evokes nostalgia. So much meme-worthy elements and out-of-context clips, but also makes for beautiful gifs - across the board great delinquent-comedy that you can turn off your brain to done by Pierrot

Watch one if you've already watched the other - mainly bc MCs represent each other so much, matter of fact, Madhouse made sure they share same VA who does such a great job. FYI: You won't understand mahjong in Akagi, not even the basics without a little research cause there's little-to-no explanation. Regardless, if you couldn't get enough of Tokuchi or Kaiji, at least give this 3-5 episodes, Akagi himself alone is an excuse to watch this.

Both romance actually contain progress and develop throughout the episodes, you won't get left with just hand-holding last episode, last minute. I recommend Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou if you're in the mood for some 90's romance, done by an amazing studio and characters are charismatic, not soulless unlike many dramas.

(other way around cause MaL coding is ass) Essentially similar situations where MCs half-retire from the yakuza world and find themselves challenged as they've become regular citizens. I really recommend The Fable as it has an amazing balance of chill SoL mixed with profound yakuza-surroundings where MC has to interfere in other to avoid consequences, furthermore the cast solely consists of adults if you're tired of annoying children lol

Sanctuary is mostly a yakuza manga and I'm recommending this over Akumetsu cause they're similar, however Sanctuary tackles issues regarding Japan's half-corrupt political system in a more realistic and overall in a better course of action. Both have incredible manipulative MCs which has really been a sought-after element lately, really makes you wanna root for them and hope their plans execute correctly.

Childcare theme, while Yotsuba has an increasing amount of comedy panels (which "My Girl" kinda lacked), Yotsuba is still missing drama, which is totally fine, just read "My Girl" to cover up for that dissatisfaction.

If you stand with the minority who actually adore Yuasa Masaaki & Tatsunoko Production's art-style, then watch Kemonozume. Definitely not for the faint heart, hell there was an actual fucking gore image in one of the episodes, and it has more NSFW scenes than Edgerunners. The fight scenes and traditional samurai sword techniques really remind me of PPtA, same with the pacing that's pretty fast.

So far Shigurui is the closest to Vagabond in terms of theme/genre, martial Arts, samurai-life and composition (it can be heavy on dialog at times, however it doesn't fail to replicate Vagabond's beautifully aesthetic panels with little-to-no text). The gore in the manga can be a tad over the top with the art REALLY demonstrating it with details.

*other way around* since MaL's outdated website coding always detects the incorrect work to be recommended Funnily enough both MCs are considered as the greatest hitmen ever in their environment. "The Fable" needs way more recognition so please go read it. One of the very few mangas with 10/10 characters (Yamaoka is such an incredible villain) and the manga portrays the new-age Yakuza very realistically, since it's not necessarily the typical unrealistic assumptions that videogames, films and other works have regarding the Yakuza.

*OTHER WAY AROUND* MaL detects Kimi ni Todooke as recommended work no matter what order I pick cuz their website coding is fucking trash Even to this to this day and age, "Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou" is imo the greatest adapted romance/drama, carried by 2 incredible studios they never fail to bore you with good pacing and characters are charismatic, they basically have relatable/likable personalities and aren't solely one-sided which is the biggest turn-off. The show's initial premise is similar to Kimi ni Todoke with little to no exception, until you realize it can actually dive deep into sensitive topics and interesting psychological elements.

*OTHER WAY AROUND*. MaL detects Chi no Wadachi as recommended work no matter what order I pick cuz their website coding is dogshit Main character(s) being culprits of a realistic crime in both mangas, incredibly suspenseful, terrifying and makes you question "is it morally righteous that I'm rooting for them to get away with their crime?". Bokutachi ga Yarimashita feels like a replicate of Oshimi Shuuzou's (better known as creator of Aku No Hana) work with its story direction and eerie settings that's rare to stumble across nowadays.

Creator of Hell's Paradise actually used to be Fugimoto's assistent (woah!!), background and characters art-style are familiar aka incredible and compared to CSM, Hell's Paradise actually consists of a premise/end objective so it's not a loose story you'd lose track of. This is also one of the very few mangas where characters feel charismatic or not one-sided so you'll get attached.

It goes without saying that you can read Hyouka's novel/manga or even just watch the anime in order to enjoy "Insomniacs After School"! If you were attatched to Hyouka's characters, please do yourself a favor and read the following manga, their characters are similar and it fulfilled exactly what Hyouka's fans never received (probably know what I mean). Themes and atmosphere of these works are very similar, hence I'm sure you can binge the recommended manga as it's not difficult to read and one of *my* most ENJOYABLE manga read ever - 80 chapters/9 volumes so far by the way!

Koko wa Ima kara Rinri desu.
|
Explained short story told, "We shall now begin ethics" is a Seinen version of the Shounen GTO, both revolve around two amazingly encouraging MC teachers. Based on the target audience, "Koko wa-" doesn't contain any action nor comedy, but rather philosophical and psychological aspects. I'd genuinely recommend "Koko wa-" over GTO since it's only 30 chapters so far (heavily dialog-based though) and the MC (Takayanagi) actually interacts with the entire class, individually, regarding their problems/concerns about life - not to mention Takayanagi is so daddy material too lol
