It's been a long while since we've last seen our favorite cast of characters from the world of Tensura. And with the announcement of the long-awaited third season, we have our first movie of the series. A movie that tells an interesting story, a lovable variety of both old and new characters, yet somehow delivers a middling performance that leaves most fans wanting more.
To keep it short: If you are expecting an amazing story with groundbreaking animation that'll blow your minds out, then I would pass on this one. If you've watched the anime series, became a fan, and are looking for more of what

gave you the same surprises that you've enjoyed in some of its highlights, then I would stream this one at home instead.
But, if you are a fan that has watched the anime repeatedly cause you've read every single piece of media, from manga down to the children's books; someone who has little care for disappointment, and is just looking to see more of your favorite characters once again...then you'll have a pleasantly fun and enjoyable time with this movie.
The film takes off shortly after the end of the second season. Although this film is not canon, it's written by the same author(Fuze). And story-wise, it had an interesting premise along with a well-driven narrative, which easily ties-in the main story-line, and could even be considered as canon. However, the film does fall flat to some degree in terms of pacing and a very jarring final act. It started off strong with a great backstory to some interesting new characters, especially Hiiro, who's the long-lost 'brother' of the surviving Ogre tribe.
Speaking of characters: Towa, who's the Queen of Raja, is our main heroine for this story. Her personality comes of as kind and caring, yet headstrong and calculating when it comes to her people. She makes the great sacrifice of using her powers to the detriment of her own life; a curse that's eating away at her body every time she uses her powers.
Then there's our entourage of monsters with our lovable slime, Rimuru, and his friends. Although some of them have stepped back to a more supporting role here, each of them was still given a chance to shine at the appropriate times. Most notably, Rimuru's right-hand man, Benimaru; as well as Hiiro, both of whom shined brightest at the end. Right at the final act of the film, Benimaru is struggling between a cursed and overpowered Hiiro, while keeping his own power in check, for when he makes the resolve to strike him at the final moment. And with Hiiro, making the most badass exit, sacrificing his life to stop the curse's uncontrollable rage by commiting seppuku, ripping out cursed orb deep from his own chest, before fading to dust as if a mad-titan has snapped his fingers from a far distance.
Which brings us back to Towa, who pulled a reverse UNO card on Hiiro, and made a miracle of reviving him to the awkward situation where she sacrifices herself instead to the curse that binds her. As her body transforms into light particles, floating to the heavens where the Goddess who cursed her awaits for her arrival...to which the Goddess then pulls her own reverse UNO card out of the plot-armor deck, reviving Towa, promptly sending her particle ass back to earth.
I swear Fuze is the polar opposite of Isayama, Hajime. Instead of spreading death flags, he spreads plot-armor protection. Anyway, I didn't have much of an issue with how the final act ended. I was almost expecting something like that to happen as Fuze has been known to do that in the novels. Not gonna say anymore besides that.
Final thoughts: I had a really good time with Guren no Kizuna-hen.
Story is great, and the runtime is just under two hours. But it felt like it could've been a 2hr&15m-ish film just to fleshen out the story more. And while the animation was lacking some of the luster of the anime series, especially in some slow scenes that sometimes feel like an afterthought to the fight scenes. In which case, most of the fights were well-animated and I would say is good enough for a two hour watch.
Sound-wise, there was some really nice base in some action sequences that you'll really only feel in a theater. Some ambient tracks from the series were reused here as well, which some of you may find reminiscent . And I really enjoyed the insert songs of both Karasawa, Miho; as well as STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION, who made an awesome banger for the second season's ending song. And of course, MindaRyn's theme song for this movie: "Make Me Feel Better" was a joy to listen to in surround sound.
Overall, I really just love seeing all the characters again, after a long drought of news of an upcoming season. Not to mention Violet making her debut, who's also just a delight to see being animated and voice-acted for the first time. And although I would've liked to see more of our new characters , some backstory even(with the exception of Violet), it probably isn't going to happen unless Fuze decides to include it in the novel. Not much else to say other than to support the film, since it would enable more seasons for the anime to be made.
PS: I would also like to mention there is a good amount of backstory of this movie in the mobile game: SLIME - ISEKAI Memories, for those who are interested. You can just look it up on YouTube if you're only interested in the story.

Clearly you've seen the tags, so you know what you're in for. This particular Hentai obviously isn't for the faint of heart, so be sure to ask your mother for permission. It will definitely screw your mental state and leave you scarred for a long while after seeing some really degrading shit that is Euphoria.
For a brief review, the story is what this series is built on: Perfection. Characters were pretty decent although dialogue were pretty much like any other generic hentai which equates to shit. Although it is usually the format so no argument here. However, compared to the some of the low-budget ... |
