If you guys have landed here by accident and are wondering if this is any good, I can whole heartedly vouch for it. This manga keeps it simple while going above and beyond to please the readers, and is not only full of fights, but is a story of friendship, pride and respect. This manga was the story that actually restored my love for reading, and is one that people should try reading even if only for a chapter or two.
Story 10/10
The greatest thing about this is manga is that it is shounen without being corny. No hindrances of big breasted female leads, annoying move
...
names or cliche plot, only pure plot and action. Following the events of its prequel, it shows a new protagonist striving to become the top of the school. However, what makes Worst great is that it focuses on the lives of the towns other key individuals, something that I feel was of massive importance to the story. While keeping the story of Hana and Suzuran its focal point, this manga delves into the lives of the rivaling schools, the antagonistic rival, and everyones favourite motorbike gang. The story is extremely exciting as it shows the development of bonds and respect to characters that people can easily find relateable, and gives a perfect mix of off-hand humour to the hotblooded fights it covers. What makes the manga great is that it is not afraid to tug at the heartstrings of the reader, with some moments making you feel proud and excited and some leaving you almost empty, a quality I found great for such an action filled story.
Art 9/10
A big step up from its founding manga, the art is near flawless. The character designs and the backgrounds are all incredibly well done, with the manga artist putting in what felt like massive amounts of times to ensure the graffiti plastered in various places was up to standard. The characters as mentioned look great, and the overall drawing style was one that made the story easy to immerse yourself in.
Characters 10/10
The episodic nature of the manga ensures that you wont have just one favourite character. By the end of the story, you will love not only the protagonists, but even find yourself admiring and respecting the people that they fought against. All of the characters undergo massive development throughout the story, that being either maturing into more adult-like personas or simply gaining a new air of cockiness to flaunt around. Every character is unique and exciting to see, and makes you wish that the story had continued even longer just to see where their lives had led them.
Enjoyment 10/10
This manga is simply put one of the most exciting and fun stories that have been translated. For people who had a pretty full-on highschool life like myself, this is an easy relateable story that can make you feel connected and nostalgic with the characters. Just reading the fights and hearing the aspirations of conquering schools is enough for people to get an adrenalin rush. The best thing about the manga is that it is long without feeling like its too long, allowing it to be both a lasting and fun experience.
Overall 10/10
Easy. One of the greatest manga I have ever read, and will likely remain that way until a sequel is made. For those who are wondering if this is worth reading; you will not regret starting it. The story, art and characters are all near perfect, and beyond the excitement of the scraps and honour, there lies a strong and enchanting story of growth and pride. Please, take the time out to read this manga.
