A mindless fun anime with enough action, romance, and the right ammount of fanservice, the character design is good and the CGI looks average, some elements in the story feel forced and some characters feel undeveloped but if you like Dragons, action, romance and fanservce and you are looking for something to relax and watch without needing to read a whole bible to understand it then this is the rght anime for you,its not a character driven masterpiece but it does its job, to entertain you.
The good:
Romance
Character Design
A few side characters
Soundtrack
Action
Fanservice
...
The Average :
Some characters feel dumb
Some elements of the story feel forced
The CGI
Final minutes feel kinda rushed

A combination of horror and mecha what could go wrong? well in this show case almost everything.
If you ever asked yourself this question "A mecha show cannot be boring,it has giant robots right?"
Then this show is the answer to that question,it spends hours and hours of dialogue, useless flashbacks that repeat themselves over and over again,a bunch of scifi-horror jargon that never gets fully explained, unlikeable and annoying characters and the only two decent characters were never given enough screentime to carry the show. The mechas and their weapons feel weak through the whole show, they look like they are shooting water bullets, the main giant "enemy" is overpowered and
...
mechas are useless against him and the only way he gets "defeated" is with power of friendship so if you were waiting for a massive battle at the end you will be left with nothing but dissapointing.
The only thing good about this series would be the second Ending song by Nano,at least that song should carry you through the secound cour of 11 episodes. If you really "really" wanna watch this i would say watch the recap that covers episodes 1-13 then watch the rest of the episodes, that way you wont feel the weight of hours and hours of useless dialogue.
If i had to describe this show in a big sentence it would be:
Slow,boring,annoying characters,generic music score,generic mecha design,generic character designs,generic animation and a dumb ending.
I can only recomend this to people who suffer from insomnia.

An emotional, love driven epic scifi/mecha story mixed with a little bit of environmentalism and anti-establishment counterculture about a 14 year old boy who lives under the shadow of his deceased father,a famous hero who sacrificed his life in a mysterious event to protect the world,he then meets a mysterious girl falls in love with her and joins an outlawed group of counterculture antigovernment sky surfing mecha pilots who are in war against the United Federation military to protect the planet,in there he gets involved in an epic journey involving a prophecy,a mysterious race of beings called the scub coral,a religious sect called vodarac
...
who venerates such beings,a civil war, ethnic cleasing, the fate of humanity and the fate of the world, all while trying to find the meaning of love and happiness. On the opposite way stands the villian, the United Federation Military leader,Leutenant Colonel Dewey Novak,a deranged megalomaniac with a personal vendetta against the planet, willing to sacrifice millions of people and even the whole world just to achieve his deranged goal.
The story is first a love story then a mecha story, theres zero fanservice except for the mecha fanservice and everything that happens in the show from the mecha battles up to the prophecy and the final battle for the fate of the world revolve around the two main characters love for each other and their desire to protect their loved ones.
The story is filled with references to other famous books like " The Golden Bough" by Sir James George Frazer and the worldbuilding elements seen in the last episodes are also a reference to famous scifi book "Blood Music" by Greg Bear, the story is also filled with references to the surfing culture,to counterculture events like the "summer of love",and even all of the show episode titles are references to real songs or albums from alternative rock/electronic artists.
Animation feels very fluid as expected from Studio Bones,a purely 2D animated mecha show with zero cgi and a lot of real sakuga sequences during the mecha battles that creates a great cinematic feeling, such fluidity also causes a bunch of low quality moments but that is not a big deal, specially in a character driven story like this one.
Character development is one of the series strong points, one that makes you realize how much several characters in the story can change from the interactions with people around them, the deaths and all of the painful events they experienced changed their characters.
Music score is great,Sato Naoki (Ruroni Kenshin Live action and Godzilla Minus One) really goes all out on the score with beautiful and emotionally composed musical pieces that go hand in hand with all of the emotional scenes in the series. The series also has several acid house/trance/electronic music pieces that play across several episodes from several japanese DJ like Denki Groove,Quadra,RYUKYUDISKO,DJ KAGAMI that add another layer of uniqueness to the show. The openings and endings are all bangers so you wont have to skip them.
Overall the story is great, full of romantic moments, big ammount of characters all with their own personality and unique design, filled with beautiful hand drawn mecha battles, unique mecha designs and unique world building elements with a beautiful and unique soundtrack.
I recommend this to anyone who likes mecha/romance/fairy tales/environmentalism.

And thus Tomoki Kyoda bitter quest to destroy everything that made Eureka Seven great has finally come to an end,the first minutes of the first movie is the only good thing about these "movies" the rest is just a bastardization of everything that made Eureka Seven special and unique.
Eureka Seven original series was a show about love, coexistence with nature, family and forgiveness, this three movies instead feel like a cheap attempt to turn E7 into an Eva/Gundam/Ghost in the Shell knockoff and succeding at none of it,the only two good things about them were the big explosions and the first 10mins of the first movie where they
...
animated the "Summer of Love" cataclysm event, after that it turns into a bunch of retcon multiverse baloney with inconsistent animation, generic futuristic scenery, generic music, generic giant robot fights and a script so bad it almost feel like an AI wrote the whole thing.
I can only recommend this trilogy of movies to people who like to watch big explosions because that was the only good thing about them, the rest is just your typical confusing edgy scifi mecha trying to milk money from fans of the original E7 and judging by the box office numbers, reviews of the films and even the NFT they tried to sell to us,it even failed at doing that.

Guilty Crown is one of those animes you either love or hate
Soundtrack is probably the strongest part of the show with ryo from Supercell and Hiroyuki Sawano both at their peak composing beautiful and stunning songs/soundtracks for the show, also this anime marks the debut of Egoist a fictional band created by ryo from Supercell and with vocals from Chelly so if you like Egoist/Supercell/Hiroyuki Sawano you will love this anime regardless of other issues.
Characters Design is second strongest part of the show with illustrator Redjuice from Supercell creating the world setting, its characters and how they look, the mecha designs are futuristic yet unique, the world looks
...
colorful, unique and futuristic and the characters and their attire are very unique, beautiful and very recognizable for Redjuice fans.
The animation is another of the strong part of the show with Production I.G animating the characters created by Redjuice in a fluid and consistent way,the use of CGI in the mechas looks great and the mechas dont look out of place or stuck at low framerate unlike other shows. The power up scenes look unique, full of color and very vivid and the actions scenes look very fluid and very polished with a high budget look.
The fanservice is also very strong so for people who enjoy fanservice on both female and male characters you will have plenty to feast your eyes on.
The romance in the show is also very present in the plot accompanied with the beautiful soundtrack by Sawano and Supercell.
However the weakest part of the show has to be its script and characters tropes, the show is full of elements taken from other shows and the plot begins rather good in first part of the show only to become tangled and confusing in the second part of the show, the characters feel generic and nonsensical and a bunch of stuff just happens for the sake of the plot, the ending also felt very rushed almost like they planned to make this a 24 episode anime but they run out of money and had to wrap it up real quick at episode 22.
Mecha purists will also feel a little dissapointed with this anime as the 3 main characters never pilot a mecha in the whole show, only the side characters can apparently pilot them, the action scenes where the mechas take part are beautiful and full of action but sadly they are shortly lived.
TLDR: “Guilty Crown” is a "mecha" anime full of fast paced action, strong romance, heavy fanservice, beautiful fluid and colorful animation, unique and beautiful characters designs and breathtaking songs and soundtracks with Sawano and Supercell at their peak but with a weak messy plot, overused character tropes and a rushed final episode.
People like me who enjoy not too deep cheesy over the top action/romance anime with lots of fanservice and who also happen to be a huge Sawano/Supercell/Egoist fan will love this show but Mecha purists, people who hate heavy fanservice and people who like anime with a character driven story and with a very good script will feel dissapointed.

This anime started good but then it suddenly stops,no proper ending or a "to be continued" it just ends, tried to read the novel but it has been abandoned for 15 years, some of the misteries start to feel a bit forced towards the middle of the show and the romance never gets past the "blushed face" phase,so if you like a slice of life anime with a little bit of high school mistery and your average dose of high school romance that just suddenly stops at 22th episode with zero signs of ever receiving a sequel then this is the anime for you.

50 episodes later the orphans hard earned rewards come to an abrupt end and in the last episdoes we witness the orphans journey come to an abrupt and bloody dramatic end orchestrated by an overpowered shady politician who now has access to illegal railguns and his trio of inmortal pilots, almost all of the plot armor that the main character gained in the first season and most of second season where he solos hordes of npc enemies and even a horde of AI controlled self replicating robots gets removed and transfered to the bad guy whos only weakness is a long range railgun canon that somehow
...
it only has one shot despite the fact that we see that the railgun ammunition is only a giant metal rod,a giant metal rod that the main characters only have access to a single one while the villain seems to have an unlimited supply, and speaking of the villain duo of pilots Iok and Julieta, they just seem to be inmortal they somehow can go 1v1 with our protagonists even after it has already been stablished that the mc's control system is vastly superior and cant be beaten by normal suits, their suits get crushed, the cabin gets destroyed and they are all full of injuries but somehow they always manage to live because either protagonist thought he killed them and forgets about them or because one of the villain npc's get in the way to save them, this repeats for the rest of the season almost like a plot device just so they both survive til the end of the series.
At the final of the show the now deceased protagonists won some of the things they were fighting for because for some unknown plot armor reason the villain is now willing to adopt the same reforms our protagonists were fighting for,The villain then proceeds to forget about one of the main ally of our protagonists (an alliance that everyone even the news know and talk about) and even accepts her reforms. All of this is probably because the writer was too scared to give this a true BAD END.
Because of all of this the entire 50-episode story felt like the writer inflated a giant baloon as big as possible and then decides to pop it with a giant needle but at least it wasnt boring.

If you are a fan of mecha shows that have a military background story focused on war and very little romantic elements(though the romance is kinda forced), and you enjoy handrawn animation that is really good, great soundtrack, creative creature and mecha designs, and a big cast well developed characters that live in a large and mysterious world where the majority of the events that happen aren't explained well to give you a false sense of "mystery", then you'll probably like this show. Be aware though that even after the show ends, most of the worldbuilding aspects of this show are left unexplained.
