TLDR: Worth the watch, even for non mech fans. Get hype for season 2
Aldnoah zero was one an acclaimed mech anime from summer 2014 that shows us both sides of an invasion where you could choose who is in the right. The story here was well written and follows multiple different characters. Basically, there are three sides in this war (Earth, Vers, and Slaine) where we follow 2 of those sides until they all collide at the climax. There is enough action each episode to keep those who dislike background information and character development interested. The shows pacing was great for one cour; we follow
...
only a small part of the world, but after three quarters of the way through connect with the rest to face the challenge. What the story is missing is more background information that would help it. We were only given small spoonfuls of history at a time, and I was craving for more. What the show sacrifices in world building, it makes up for in character development. 7/10
The characters make a show, and the characters in Aldnoah Zero are excellent. Slaine shows the struggle of ideals and beliefs. He wants to help the princess he loves, and proves that many times, but after learning different truths over time, fights for a different cause and helps others. He put his life on the line to help another cause and was shot down (literally). There is controversy around the ending of the show; however, Slaine had developed into someone different throughout the show and his ideals changed. Our MC was one of the only faults of the characters in A/Z, alongside the princess. He was your emotionless genius protagonist (that's not actually seen much, right?) who brought hope to those around him. He was rather one dimensional and flat. The princess had a similar role as other princesses- the enemy that tries for peace. Se Euphie from Code Geass or Nia from TTGL. She wasn't all that original: beautiful, good relationship with MC, father/grandfather is the tyrant who doesn't really care what happens to her, etc. The characters that are important are Marito, Saazbaum, and Cruhteo. Cruhteo makes a great foil to Saazbaum as he desires war to avenge his princess and what he believes in, whereas Saazy wants (more personal) revenge vs the system he's a part of. Both are greatly written enemies that represent the two different factions on the Versian side (both oppose Earth, one would be the supporters of war, others the princess). Marito is a well developed soldier that has to live with shame for the rest of his life for his past decisions (the right decision, mind you). His character shows the horrors of war, as well as the aftermath. 8/10
The art is not just above average, but the CGI works in this anime. A lot of people may disagree, but I think the CGI mecha's look really nice and improve the action sequences. The characters all look normal and have a considerable amount of depth to them (art wise and how they're written). 8/10
The soundtrack is one of the best I've listened to. The OP and ED are fantastic and I didn't even think about skipping them. Each song that was portrayed throughout the anime had tremendous effect- either to elicit emotion, or enhance action. 9/10.
Overall, I was not bored throughout the entirety and found each scene meaningful. I usually avoid mech anime; however, this one was quite solid. My only complaint for enjoyment would be that there seemed to be a minimum of one action scene per episode, which wasn't necessary for those who like plot development. Nothing really stopping me from giving this a 10 for enjoyment. 10/10
I'd rate A/Z a 8/10 and of the best anime from summer 2014. I'm really excited for A/Z season 2 as there is a lot left unknown.

TLDR: Generic magic fantasy story with a harem and fan service
Trinity seven's story was quite confusing and boring. It started off for a few episodes where I didn't know what was happening because I didn't care. T7's premise was generic fantasy where our MC finds power and has to save the world. Where it is different is he has a harem and you can't really tell what he's trying to save, except for his cousin. The magic system was original, but uninteresting, and the names for everything are the generic fantasy names that you see in many pieces. You have your Norse, Biblical, and other
...
mythological names that you see everywhere. Which is fine, usually; however, after so many pieces of entertainment have used it, original concepts go a long way. 3/10
Animation quality is a bit above average for today's standard. It excels during fights and is decent the rest of the time. There is a lot of fanservice. MC is a "lucky pervert" and see's, touches, and fantasizes about all of the girls' boobs. You can't go an episode without characters awkwardly falling on top of each other; either exposing their crotch or boobs. 7/10
Sound quality is above average. The OP was really catchy and the ED's were ok. The BGM was very fitting for each scene and I noticed it a lot of the time. I found it exceptional. 8/10
The characters were your run of the mill Tsundere, Kuudere, Dandere, etc. Liese best girl, don't you deny that. Each and every girl was nice to look at ;) and had somethings that were interesting about them. My only complaint was the shit MC who looks so very stupid. Every time I look at Arata, he seems a bit off, somehow. Also, he is quite the average pervert and isn't really interesting. He has his moments, but wasn't a good MC. Characters are a bit too generic, overall, so 4/10 seems appropriate.
My enjoyment for this skyrocketed about halfway through the series. This turned from a 3/10, overall to a 7/10 over the course of the second half.
In the end, T7 isn't spectacular. It was fun to watch, but hard to get into. I wasn't expecting much going in; nevertheless, after watching the show, I was still thoroughly entertained. 54/100

TLDR: Tried too hard to be good
Story wise, SAO II improved upon SAO. There were three arcs in SAO II. GGO, Calibur, and Mother Rosario. GGO was my favorite out of these, being an unexpected change of pace from the fantasy setting. Introducing a fun, new world to explore was great; the only let down was a poor execution for the ending. 7.5/10 for GGO. The second arc was really shitty. We were set back into the usual world, but with new scenery. It felt just plain bad when compared to GGO and even the past seaason's poor arcs. 3/10. Mother Rosario was all the
...
hype. Everyone that had read the light novels had said that it will be the saving grace of SAO. Turns out, it was just a bunch of sentimentality and a bad excuse at trying to be "deep". 7/10. Overall, SAO II's story was still more than mediocre, I'd even admit it was good.
The animation quality was improved; SAO has it's own edgy style that's nice for action sequences, but not so nice for stills and day-to-day life. The characters look decent, and the land's look quite good; however, SAO II has no amazing quality that you'd expect from newer anime. It still sticks to what it has going for it, and strongly at that. 8/10
The sound quality was quite good. Not much stood out to me except the intro songs that were pretty catchy; nevertheless, each scene had a fitting soundtrack that set the appropriate atmosphere. 8/10
The characters in the first arc that were introduced were Sinon, Death Gun, and his brother, whatever his name was (ASADA-SAN!ASADA-SAN!ASADA-SAN!ASADA-SAN!ASADA-SAN!, that guy). Sinon had plenty of development and backstory. She was a good character and became best girl (after Asune became too dere, not enough tsun). Death gun was an awesome villain, because we knew almost nothing about him and he had an otherworldy power of sorts that nobody else possessed. ASADA-SAN!ASADA-SAN! wasn't so good, really shitty at that. For Calibur, we got some shitty AI characters and that was all. For Mother Rosario, we got a realistic mother, and Konno Yuuki. Her friends don't matter, but Zekkan was an important character. However, the sentimentality there was obviously forced. Without spoilers, I didn't feel anything for her situation, and didn't like her as a character. The entire series (both seasons) our MC is the best. That's what made him Kirito. We've all accepted this a a truth, but all of a sudden this bitch walks in and one-ups MC. Asuna (his faithful lover) responds by taking Kirito's role as MC and ditching him and making him her bitch. All Kirito had to do was stand up and defend his pride as best character in the game, but no. Zekkan comes in and fucks everything up. 7/10 for characters. (also Asuna's mother was in the right, Asuna's a little bitch that can't accept reality. But really, I thought her mother was a good character)
Enjoyment- well I did enjoy this, but not as much as I initially enjoyed SAO I. GGO would be a 8/10 for me, Calibur a 2/10, MR a 5/10 (would be a six if Kirito stood up and smacked a bitch in that last episode). so 6/10 for enjoyment.
Overall, I'd rate this 7/10, as it's action packed and full of extremes (both good and bad). It is more entertaining than many other seven/ten's; nevertheless, it is heavily flawed, but enjoyable. The ending was ok, and I will be watching a third installment (because you know this shits gonna get one, with the stupid amount of popularity it gets).

TLDR: Still good, but missing some elements from PP1
Should you watch this if you've watched the first one? It may not be necessary, but I feel like the hole for wanting more that I had in my heart has been filled.
The art and sound were very consistent with the first season. The animation quality is superb; the character's design is beautiful and the scenery (and imagery) presented is nice to look at. 9/10 for art. The OP and ED are some of the best for fall 2014. I listened to both for each episode and greatly enjoyed it. All the other music fits nice
...
with what is being illustrated. 9/10 for sound.
The characters continuing from last season held up, but were dragged back by the less engaging Togane and Mika. Kirito was a great villain (not as fun to watch as Makeshima), and made up for that a bit, but the new characters weren't up to par with the Ginoza and Kogami sidestories from the first season. 6/10
The story wasn't too riveting and felt off, somehow. It was ok overall, but what was missing was the sidelined characters in place of an uninteresting Mika + Togane route. It felt like it didn't lead to anything and didn't surpass my expectations. 5/10
I still greatly enjoyed this, my second favorite show for thursday's in fall 2014 (Shigatsu 2 stronk). Every episode was consistent from the start. Where other series' may start worse and snowball into something fantastic, PP2 starts at about 75% intensity and stays there; this, of course, means that it doesn't pick up hard near the end. 7/10
Overall, I'd give it an 72/100, or 7/10. Not great, still good, but missing those key characters from PP1. If you've watched the first season, this is a must watch.

The original "Hitsugi no Chaika"was a pleasant surprise for most people. It started out as your average fantasy- filled with magic, swords, and a quest. It was slowly, but nicely, paced; however, it left the viewer with a lot of questions. "Hitsugi no Chaika: Avenging Battle" set out to answer what was left in the air, and possibly conclude the series.
The story in Chaika 2 started out very poor. It lost the intensity that the ending of Chaika 1 had, although many sequels do. The show leisurely found a footing and made its linear path to an almost
...
disappointing ending. The ending wasn't what was very bad, but it was the time leading up to the final episodes that was poorly done (specifically the introduction of Gaz being in episode 9 or so). Some might call it an attempt at an intricate plot, but it became almost predictable. Predictable or expected really; there weren't any surprises that would catch you off guard. It didn't resolve its romantic subplots, but finished off some of the other ones (Nikolai/Gillette squad) decently. I'm not satisfied with this ending. From the the hype that Gaz was given, it seems too unlikely that'd he'd be beaten so easily. 4/10 for story.
Animation was nice to look at, nothing much to talk about here. The fight scenes were ok, but it didn't have anything outstanding. 7/10
The opening for Chaika Dos was catchy, but not memorable enough. Same with the ending; it wasn't anything special. The OST blended fine with the art style to create it's fun but serious tone, and it was fine overall. 6/10
The characters weren't developed enough for my care. Shin was given very little screen time for his, somewhat, important role. Our MC's were developed enough in the first season, but didn't receive much this time around, which is fine. Hartgen and the other heroes didn't get much backstory, which was disappointing. As well as the new Chaika's that were introduced. I was hoping for more, and was left disappointed. 5/10
Didn't enjoy this that much compared to the other, better series' this fall. 4/10
Overall, 5/10 for feeling uninteresting at times, but still keeping its fun charm. No matter what I said, it's not bad, but a mediocre series overall. It is still worth the watch if you've seen the first season. I wouldn't put this high on your priority list, but it is a nice, fun series.

Mirai Nikki is a "death game" thriller that had a lot of potential. The show itself was like a sinusoidal curve with my interest in it. At the beginning my interested steadily rose, until dropping off until around eps 18ish, then dropping off after episode 22.
The story, without going into spoilers, was your average "kill everyone until you're the last one standing" hunger games approach to select the next god. It focuses on our MCs and their interactions with a certain number of enemies at a time, then moving on to the next batch. It seems repetitive and
...
predictable, but I can honestly say that the ending few episodes weren't what I thought was going to happen. 7/10 for a pretty good thriller ride
The animation and sound departments were unremarkable. 6/10 each because they're good, but I didn't want to listen to the OST afterwards, and I didn't really see anything unique about the art. Some censoring early on is a nuisance, however, and the character models aren't half bad.
The characters are where this anime shines...blackness upon its overall score. They're shit; the MCs Yuuko and Yuno that is. I contemplated dropping this series because of the bad MC, but stuck through it because of the other characters being average. Yuuko may be the only relate-able character, but that doesn't make him an interesting character. 4/10
I enjoyed most of this series, maybe not the ending or some mini-arcs, but overall 5/10 for the somewhat fun watch.
Everything together, I scored this a 5.6/10, interesting premise, above average everything else, just shit characters that hold it back.

Ping Pong the Animation comes very close to being a masterpiece, but is lacking in the visuals. It is a mixture of hard character development, great action, and in depth look into sports and table tennis.
The story is perfect for 11 episodes. Everything at the end was concluded; all threads were tied and the viewer is left feeling satisfied. 10/10.
The OST for ping pong is one of my favorites. The intense opening and "battle" themes really set the mood for the action sequences. There are appropriate slower songs for the sad moments, and other niche
...
songs that fit well. Give the soundtrack a listen to after watching it. 10/10
The characters are what you'd expect from a sports anime: there's "hero" who develops his skills due to his persistence and support; the anti-hero who strives for the same goal as the hero, but takes a different path; the sage who guides our hero's, etc. They all fit together nicely, and left me rooting for multiple characters. 10/10
I enjoyed this anime without any table tennis experience or knowledge prior, and with some experience for my re-watch. 10/10, i cri errytime.
The animation is the only wavering factor in my mind. Some call it masterful due to its charm that fits the show so well, some call it too low budget that ruins the rest of the experience. I am with the former; however, I accept the criticisms towards it as reality. It may not look that good at first, but after a few episodes, the animation quality isn't worse, just different. 6/10
Even if you hate sports anime, Ping Pong is still a masterpiece in it's genre. A strong contender for AotY for 2014, and one of my favorite anime I've seen to date. 9.6/10

Kill la Kill is an edgy action anime with a unique story. It is fun to watch; however, at a technical level, I found it below average and dumb at times.
The story starts off fine and epic, for the first half. Commence a series of asspulls to extend the plot- they also don't make much sense at all. It would've done better to avoid the out of place fanservice, and instead focus a bit on the plot holes. 3/10, was entertaining to watch what was happening- requires brain to be off to understand though. My biggest problem was
...
that the show couldn't stay serious or funny. Its tones were all over the place, ruining this anime.
The art was different and unique, but looked sloppy in the end. It was unappealing to my eyes and everyone I've talked to about this. Objectively speaking, it is well animated and the action scenes do look better. I may have not liked it, but the art might be the best part about KlK. 7/10
The music wasn't anything special. "Don't lose your way" is the only song of significance, and is overplayed at that. 5/10
The characters Ryuuko and Satsuki are interesting in their development, but I didn't care for any other characters, some of them ruining moments (*cough* Mako *cough*). 5/10
I enjoyed the first half or so, for it had so much potential. After the plot crevasses that obliterated all logic hit, I lost my way. 4/10
Overall, 5/10 is an average-ish anime, but i'd still recommend this anime. It isn't good, far from it, but everyone sees anime differently.

In a short summary, Air tries to do too much in it's limited time and flops. Air forces a complex plot on the viewer that doesn't fit well, which leads to its downfall.
Air's story starts out pretty simple, but soon takes some emotional turns with characters we've barely met. The logical choice would be for our MC to leave or ignore these girls who need help, but he becomes ever so close into figuring out his mother's tale. 1 cour was not enough to fill even 1 route from the VN and in turn, leaves the anime viewer
...
confused as to what's happening. 3/10
The art and sound are excellent for the time, and still hold up today. The animation would still be considered nice to look at now, and the music is very emotional and works in favor of the writers wishes. 7/10 art and 6/10 sound.
The characters aren't anything amazing. Right at the start, we meet almost an entire harem for our MC, each with stereotypical traits and problems to be solved. This creates a predictable sense I don't like to have while watching a show for the first time. MC on the other hand is interesting and fun to watch; if only he found his way into a better plot. 4/10
I did not enjoy this as much as similar pieces (Kanon 2006 and Clannad). It was simply a bunch of sentimentality for characters that haven't been fully developed. The anime was boring after a while and confusing at that. 2/10 for enjoyment.
Overall, this is an average anime for our time. It did not excel enough to stand out, and is left in the dust by better SoL drama romances that came out after it. Not bad, but not worth the watch. The VN is a better option here if you want to enjoy the story to its fullest. 4.4/10

Oh HotD, your go-to zombie boob show. This action-ecchi is an entertaining watch; however, stay away if you like your fanservice light.
The story is one of the weakest parts. From just watching this season, there is little progression towards any goal in mind, and a wide open ending. 4/10 for irrational actions that were entertaining, but took away from the supernatural/horror aspect. This one requires a blank mind to avoid over-thinking any of the plot points.
The animation was mediocre 90% of the time, but became very smooth for specific action sequences to emphasize the details.
...
This provided a nice touch to the anime. 6/10
The sound was above average- fitting music for each scene and a killer opening song to set the atmosphere pumped me up for each episode. 6/10
The characters that were developed (only half or so of the main ones) were done so in a boring fashion with over-dramatized backstories that didn't feel remotely plausible. I didn't care much for anyone outside of the main cast, and they weren't anything special. 2/10
I guess the only real reason to watch this was for some laughs and boobs. It wasn't well put together and hard to watch. 3/10
HotD is below average with most aspects. Worth the watch if you like fanservice, but not if you like zombies. Also, you have to be able to turn off your brain for the story. 4/10
