While, at first glance you would think, how is "Log Horizon," which features characters trapped in a game world, to be similar to "Code Geass." First and foremost, the main characters are similar. Lelouch, infamous for his intellectual power, conquers the world with the gift of "geass," and his mind. While Shiroe, the main character of "Log Horizon," doesn't have this kind of gift, he has the skills acquired from the MMO, because, remember, it's not your regular world, also, like LuLu, he is also very strategic, able to plan out a battle to the detail. In this respect, people looking for an anime similar to Code Geass have already found a suitable candidate ( as very intellectual characters are somewhat rare in good anime ). With all that said, on to the next comparison. Lelouch is in charge of a military/rebel squad(s). Shiroe, as the tactician in the MMO, also takes the role of leader because of his aforementioned ability to not only predict the outcome, but also the steps leading to it. The next sentence contains slight spoilers, I'm putting this in a sentence because people tend to read on past a spoiler warning unconsciously. Shiroe eventually forms the Round Table, this is where the anime performs in a more political role. Log Horizon is similar to Code Geass in both protagonist and story ( in more than a few ways ). Log Horizon has an undeniably lighter tone but will also make you shed tears just the same.
