Durarara!! impressed me with its clean cut art, dynamic characters and intricate plot. Although at some points, you question why we are being shown a certain scene or hearing a certain conversation, there is always an underlying reason for it: whether it be to further the plot or enhance the character development.
By far, my favorite part of this series was the characters. At the beginning, so many characters are shown to us and it seems like an impossible task to remember them all. However, every character plays some role in the story, and you never forget them; or at least I didn't. The characters are

all unique, but not so unique that they are out of this world (I'm talking about pink, green or blue hair). Really, where Durarara!! shines is its ability to inspire feeling for the common person, not some fantasy hero.
The art and sound were sharp. Whether it be the screaming of Celty's 'horse' or the chanting of a crowd, you heard and saw everything you needed to. Definitely the style is one of the most interesting one's out there. I love how unimportant people on the street would always be greyed out, to allow you to focus on the scene.
Durarara!!'s seemingly unrelated characters and plots feel so confusing at the start that it is terribly difficult to predict how characters will interact with each other. Of course, when it actually happens in front of you, you realize what a masterpiece this anime really is. You have to give credit for the immense thought and effort required to piece the story together, from the standpoint of so many different characters. I found the ending a little dry, but it did nothing to spoil the intricate harmony between plot, characters and conflict.
