This is a show that I believe could have been a 9 or close to a 10 if the side characters had any depth to them. As it stands, only the main character shows any willingness or ability to grow as a person. There is one other character that showed signs of potential growth, but the writers didn't give them enough of a chance in this season. Every other character is 1 dimensional at best and that is generous for some characters.
What makes this anime great is the premise and story, which are exceptionally unique and well-written. The series takes the intimate yet limited concept
...
of radio and audio-only communication and breathes an extra dimension of life into it. Whether it is used for comedy, a distraction, comfort, or information, Nami yo Kiitekure plants the passions and hard work of those in the radio media industry into your heart. It allows for a new perspective on a fading yet important part of the past half-century.
So while the characters and their relationships are fairly bland, but this was a rare situation for me that the one-of-a-kind plot and non-traditional story-telling more than made up for this. Overall, this show won over me, a "characters are everything" SoL snob.

This is getting a 5, not because it is average, but because I cannot decide whether I love or hate this series more. It is balanced chaos.
I think the characters and relationships in the show are some of the best written that I have seen in romance anime to date.
The problem with the series is the plot and how it develops from mid-season 2 onwards. The plot of the whole series hinges on a big mystery regarding "Who is the main girl and why did she marry the main guy?"
The answer to this core question is implied (until it is confirmed in the manga, hence
...
my spoiler tag), but these implications are far more heavily emphasized starting in the middle of the second season. The problem is that the answer to question is such a core part of the series that you cannot separate the characters from the plot if you dislike the direction.
Knowing the answer and the "giant white lie" behind it paints the entire series (anime and manga) in a completely different and irrevocable light, not all of which is good. In fact, the more you think about it, the more incredibly messed up it gets. In some ways, the twist is more drastic than the one in "Your Lie in April" but you aren't given the insight a lie exists from the title until it is too late.
As someone who gets very invested in characters, I cannot in good conscience recommend this series, especially from season 2 onwards. If you prize character relationships above all else or you hate being lied to as the watcher, you may feel betrayed by this show.

If you are someone who enjoys watching bad movies because you enjoy watching train wrecks in action, this anime is for you. This is definitely a guilty pleasure anime for me that I come back to when I need a cringe pick-me-up.
The story is kinda awful and campy. It is very enjoyable with a pint of ice cream because you already have a spoon you can gag on.
The majority of characters are archetypal AF and don't have the time to really grow, but you get enough glimpses of humanity that the character tropes are worth groaning through.
The music is actually pretty good - it
...
is exactly what you would expect for a Shonen magic school anime. They did really well getting the vibes down.
Overall, this is NOT the kind of show you come to for something serious. It just isn't. This is something you watch with friends and openly mock while admiring the occasional cuteness, despite there being too much "fan service" for my taste.
Think of this anime like a funky cheese - you like it, you don't, or you enjoy watching other people's faces when they partake.

I was introduced to this manga through watching the animated adaptation of the beginning of the series. I actually enjoyed it for its story rather than the "plot" and wanted to know how the characters developed over time, finding out it was based on this manga.
This manga was both enjoyable and painful to read at the same time. Within the first 40 chapters of it, you will know that you are in for a long and bittersweet ride.
The story is good, if a bit plain. A boy and girl living next to each other find a hole in the wall they share, which causes chaos
...
and misunderstandings throughout.
As said, the story isn't something to necessarily write home about, but the characters and their interactions make this much better. Several of them are easy to relate to and grow invested in. Many of these people bring something unique and fun to the manga. These people often left a smile on my face and I found them people I would like to be friends with.
Additionally, the characters showcased some Japanese etiquette in a weird way that I found refreshing. In Japan, people avoid sharing with others how they really think and feel about the world around them in order to maintain peace and avoid any conflict. This is a manga that can portray that side of things very well.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this series, but due to the pain train you go through, I would likely avoid reading it again. This series would have been rated higher by me, but I don't personally agree with a lot of the direction the story went in, especially roughly halfway through the series. To me, it felt like some characters were forced to betray their nature in order to make the series drag out a bit longer.
8/10 from me.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is a phrase that should have an emphasis on the word "Bizarre", because no other word can encapsulate what this show is about.
Does this show have plot? Yes, but mostly no. It is strange in that way, almost... Bizarre. The series has more plot-holes than chain-mail made of rubber bands - it has novelty to same, but serves little to no practical value. Give it a good tug and the whole thing breaks.
What are the characters like? Odd. Any semi important character undergoes any and all character development within the first episode they appear, then stagnate throughout the rest of their time
...
in the limelight. To use a car analogy, the characters go from 1 to 60mph in two seconds, but top out at 63. Any other character is static to the point of irritation.
The art style is fairly unique, getting more unique with every season and iteration of the series. Memorable, but not my favorite.
The sound is good and the subbed voice actors did their jobs well. Good sound effects kept it immersive.
Was it fun to watch? The action scenes were fun, ridiculous, and compelling. The character interaction was... bad, though. Additionally, while the internal monologues could be entertaining, most of them were quite dull. I did not laugh at any point watching this show. If anything, it was mostly a "what the heck is up with this" smile and shake of the head.
Did I enjoy the show? To better understand memes, yes. Did I enjoy the show for it being bad? Also yes. I didn't, however, enjoy it as a story or as an anime. If you are like me and primarily interested in plot or character development, Jojo is not a good place for those things. At all.

"Aho Girl" is an incredibly trope-y anime that focuses on slapstick and straight man/funny man comedy. Each episode is split into several, disconnected episodes with simple plots to drive the humour. The story is mediocre at best and characters are archetypes to a fault.
Ultimately, the portrayal of genders is one of my main gripes. The main character, the only male in more than four or five "mini episodes", is seen as rational, intelligent, cold, and uncaring of anything that isn't academics. Almost every female (with one notable exception) in this show comes across as incredibly stupid, boy crazy, or manipulative. I can't help hating
...
the show a bit for that. Additionally, the main girl's voice will probably grate on your ears within an episode or two.
With all of that said, I couldn't refrain from smiling through the episodes. This anime falls under the "so bad it's actually good" category of entertainment. If you like watching bad shows for laughs and can handle cringe, this show may be enjoyable to you.
