God damn this is boring I wish there was a powerpoint presentation of screenshots from this movie because the art is the only masterful part of it. The film drags through it's story like a little child from checkpoint to checkpoint before you can even realize what's happening. Plot jumps all over the place, It's also extremely uninteresting I had even forgotten what it was about half way through. The themes are spoonfed to you as if insulting your intelligence, "you are here to watch a film not think! What did you think this classic from '95 was about?".

Art = top notch like I said, really sells the futuristic vibe with great designs and of course the best part of the movie is the intro animation
Animation = action is great but you can see that they took away from everything else in order it could be that way.
Characters = good design but they feel very bland and without much personality for much of the film.
Story = horrible

I believe that for manga of this length is overly complicated. The topics the author tries to tacle become a parody of their real life counterparts. After the last page you are left to decide whether everything or nothing really burdened the life of our protagonist, but the story looses all of its weight, you can't base the story on nothing, a possible dream, a made up story, within a story. Some may like this much unceratinity just to make their own conclusion and fit whatever they like into this very loose mold for but to me it's lazy writing, keeping the story so vague ... that you might find deeper meaning where there is none to find.

And I can't really agree with statements about the quality of writing as the characters folow a linear path with none diverting from the predictable paths they were given. The dialog is rather average.

My final thoughts are that the manga does have a unique feel but it's nothing memorable.

If you are interested in reading it, it's about a 30 minute read so it's not going to take much of your time.

I don't know what's going on, but I'm afraid that CDPR is a religion, not a company.

This anime is more of a formula than literary work. Predictable, unoriginal, with shallow characters and so much potential that you want the next episode to be stellar but it never is. Never ending downhill plummet and it didn't even start that high up.

Characters with no meaningful goals or rational decisions or development It would have been more tragic if the main character died in the first episode. Show for kids who dream of being a cyborg and they really hit their demographic spot on. They just had to ... sprinkle a bit of nonsensical bullshit, so their fans could add that nonexistent great deep meaning behind the story.

Perfect reflection of the game - make it pretty add some fanservice and they will like it.

This anime was made for people who will play the game. They'll experience a bunch of those little easter eggs from the anime like "oh, look I have the gun David had; oh, look I have the car, the arm, the..." So they will feel more connected to the game or the anime whichever you prefer. And they will praize the shit out of this garbage.

Cookie-cutter show that feels more like an advertisement to 2077 than anime.

To tell the truth I'm terrified of CDPR marketing department based on how good they're at their job.
