Ok ok, just listen to me. This anime and the first season are both absolute trash. They're horrible adaptations of an apparently good manga that I haven't read, but I plan to in the future. Rosario + Vampire season 1 was your basic harem mess and season 2 isn't much different other than the fact the ending is a massive cockblock and it's a lot more enjoyable. But why am I clowning on it this hard while I am giving it an 8/10? Yeah see this is the funny part.
I genuinely believe this anime is hot garbage, but it doesn't change the fact that it's
...
the fun kind of hot garbage. This anime sucks, but it's so damn entertaining in every way. Season 1 was fun too but I feel season 2 actually improved on a lot of the problems I had with season 1.
The biggest problem I have with this anime is the horrible opening and the stupid gag with Moka's younger sister. Well there's also the episode where the token loli is self-conscious about her looks and decided it'd be a good idea to transform from the power of some weird lady. That episode was dumb.
Anyway I literally don't know where I'm going with this review anymore I barely review on this site. I guess I just wanted to say that this anime is trash but lovable trash and I recommend it.

I understand what all the 1/10 reviews on this OVA are saying. This is utter trash. But all in all, I didn't really hate it?
Art - 8/10
The imagery was weird but oddly cool to me, I have no clue what it is about weird shit like this that I dig so much. I just really like the artistic vibe it has to it? I dunno if that even makes sense, everything is so damn weird in this THING.
Story - 1/10
Utsu Musume Sayuri is a weird short film with a family who seems to be doing some weird incestuous stuff for the first 30-40 seconds. Nobody
...
in the OVA even looks human so it was even weirder. It progresses to a person asking Sayuri to spank them?
Character - 3/10
Basing the score off their designs alone, they all look unnerving. I think that adds an extra layer of surrealism to it. Sayuri's design specifically made me feel freaked out.
Sound - 2/10
The voice acting was terrible and the sound effects were a little off at times. All I really gotta say.
Enjoyment - 5/10
Not gonna lie, I thought this was an entertaining watch.
Overall - 5/10
While I do understand what all the 1/10 reviews are saying, I just found this short film oddly enjoyable. It's not for everyone, and if I weren't interested in intensely weird films, I don't think I would've found this enjoyable. Anyway, I'm a fan of the movies Tetsuo I and 964 Pinocchio. It's rare for me to not like weird things.

EDIT:
I decided I'd edit this review since the series was finished. Originally I had dropped it at ep. 8 because it started to suck. I decided I'd restart the series and watched every Higurashi entry before it, as well as reread the visual novels. Higurashi Sotsu is quite possibly the worst Higurashi anime we've ever gotten, not counting Higurashi Kira. This series has fallen off insanely. Ryukishi needs to stop milking Higurashi.
OLD REVIEW:
Higurashi Sotsu is a big step up from Gou, which is a sequel to the Umineko visual novels. If you haven't seen Gou or read any of the visual novels, rip you're
...
probably very confused lol.
Anyway, Sotsu is surprisingly good for the sequel to Gou. Gou was a MASSIVE disappointment in my opinion, everything about it was terrible, it did have it's upsides but overall it was a very bad season. Sotsu though, is actually really good. The storyline is more clear (so far) and it's more enjoyable, character development is better compared to Gou (even though this is not saying much since the Higurashi visual novels also had some great character development).
If you couldn't tell, I'm being sort of vague, mostly because there's only 5 episode. I'll probably update this review once it finishes like I did with Gou (which I gave a very low score). So far so good though.
Also if you are a Higurashi anime only, damn that's actually...Kinda sad.

Higurashi Onikakushi-hen vol. 1 and 2 were the very first manga I've ever read. I had already seen the anime and played the Onikakushi-hen vn beforehand so I knew what I was going in to. What I DID not know what I was going into was that this would very quickly become my favorite way to experience Higurashi, period. I got this as a birthday gift because I had just finished the anime for the first time and learned of the manga. I didn't know what a manga was at the time and I didn't even know how to read them properly either.
The story
...
follows Keiichi Maebara, who moved to the village Hinamizawa, having a good time with his friends until he learns of a very disturbing event that happened within the village. After that, the whole thing turns from what seemed like a slice of life to a thriller-ish mystery story. It does a very good job at pulling you in and the writing is excellent. The story is awesome and the characters are also great.
The best thing about the Higurashi manga is the art and story. This goes for all of them. The art especially, god damn. Also, no matter how many times I read this same story in different iterations, it's always great. Even if it isn't different at all, it's still really great in my opinion.
I highly recommend Higurashi as a whole, but the manga especially.

Quite possibly the worst anime adaptation ever created. Why do I say this? Simple. Elfen Lied's anime adaptation removes almost every important plot detail, was too short, and overall, is just a complete piece of trash.
Yeah, there's still a story but it's very very barebones compared to the manga. We only get Kouta and Lucy's backstory, and how they're connected, and also some of that one dude with glasses' story. That's literally it.
The best thing about this overall trash adaptation is the opening, "Lilium". There's nothing else I have to say about the soundtrack, that's literally it. I guess some tracks are....a little decent
...
and set the mood?
The fact this piece of trash was animated by a hentai studio makes sense judging by the fact there's way more tit than the manga had. Not to mention, most of them on children. Yeah, there's still bits like that in the manga but it's not completely shown. They really shove the scene where Mayu is molested in your face, pretty hard. I get we're supposed to see that to sympathize with her but they could've atleast changed that part up a lot. I'm not a fan of that scene. The manga had it and made it short, the span of one page (There's also none of her chest outright shown).
Did I enjoy this? Are you reading the review? Absolutely not. This anime is a dumpster fire. The fact there's people rating this high baffles me, especially when, as said, almost every important plot detail is completely gone in the anime. Read the manga.

Not even kidding you, the climax of the first episode is pretty much identical to Silent Hill Downpour's intro for some reason. Bus driver gets distracted (well he kinda goes crazy over nothing), speeds, looks away from the road, and they crash in the setting. Not to mention, the setting is foggy.
A couple things I'd like to get out of the way here:
-Characters are all terrible.
They're pretty much entirely stereotypes. It's so damn boring.
-Opening is ok.
Yeah, I'd say the opening is pretty good.
...
-Plot is ok, executed badly
I like the idea of a horror village anime. I've kinda wished for the day one would come out that actually tried at genuine horror. Only other one I know of is Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (2006). I've been seriously hoping for a horror anime following some haunted village or something like that, thank Siren and Fatal Frame 2 for fueling those desires.
-Soundtrack could be better
Aside from the opening, the soundtrack as a whole takes me out of it, besides the lullaby theme.
-Art is pretty much the best thing in this
It looks amazing, honestly.
-Overall, it was pretty bad.
I do have some good things to say about this but overall, it's pretty damn horrid. I wouldn't recommend it but if you're seeeeeriously craving an actual horror anime involving a village that isn't the perfection that is Higurashi 2006, than I guess you could check this one out.

The creator of this series hasn't made any other manga that I'm aware of so I'll go easy. I dunno if there's more than one volume of this series but from what I read, it's not really all that great. Most of it is just "Lol get out". Ok, lemme elaborate.
The main character is a guy who runs a ramen restaurant (with terrible reviews) and he runs into a cockroach who he for some reason throws out of the restaurant instead of killing (albeit very bad idea, if you know how cockroaches work). This cockroach suddenly turns into a humanoid/cockroach girl. She's the definition of
...
moe stereotypes and almost everything she does is tries to eat Pork Cutlets. The main character constantly tries to throw her out but she doesn't leave.
There's a Huntsmen Spider girl......yeah.
There's not much of a story, and the concept is very boring and the characters are all unlikable. Almost everything about it is bad....But I do have some good things to say about it.
I did have some mild enjoyment with this series, I didn't make it far before dropping it but what I read was SOOOMEWHAT fun? Not the most fun but...fun.
The art style and art in general is really really well drawn, probably my favorite thing in this entire manga.
All characters are well drawn, the cockroach girl and huntsmen spider have the best designs in this manga, I think the Huntsmen Spider is the best one
Anyway, read this if you want, and apologies for subjecting you to such a horrible review.

EDIT: So, Higurashi Gou's last arc nearly ruined the entire thing for me but the ending of the season, although somewhat uneventful, was better. This series, up until yesterday, was probably my least favorite anime. Would I recommend this? If you have seen 2006 or Kai, or read any of the visual novels beforehand, then yes I do recommend it (although I dislike it). Anyway, the series as a whole went from many different ratings for me, at first it was ok, then it went bad, then it got even worse with the third arc, the fourth arc was perfect and nearly saved the series
...
as a whole, and then the last one we just had, I thought it was pretty terrible but the ending, as said, makes up for it even if it was a little uneventful. Anyway, with that being said, I'm going on for way too long. Have a good one and thanks for reading my boring ass review.
Higurashi Gou is the fourth season of the Higurashi series (if you didn't know Rei existed, LOL) and I am a massive fan of the original series, I've read a lot of the manga, I've read SOME of the visual novels (yeah, not a vn person), I've seen the 2006 anime, Kai, Rei, Kira (sadly), Outbreak, and even some of the special shorts like Ura-Higu and stuff along the lines.
Unfortunately, Higurashi Gou is, up until ep. 13, a repeat of the original series with minor changes except one big one being the ending changed. Most of the time the ending of the first 3 arcs is bland as all hell or just funny. This entire series only had 6 episodes I enjoyed, 14-19. Everything else is just bad imo.
I feel like nobody is talking about the advertising. The way this was marketed was as a reboot, this could possibly mislead new fans of the series...I also recently learned you have to read all the visual novels to make Higurashi Gou enjoyable in any way. I'm not sure how true this last part is so please take it with a grain of salt, but if that's the case, god damn.
The storyline is sort of the same as the original Higurashi up until the 4th arc (the only good one) with mild changes and, as said, the one big major change being the endings. It's also confusing, I am trying my best to not spoil this if you couldn't tell but, certain things are never explained. What made the original Higurashi very very fun was the fact that there was mystery, you could form your own theory about it. There was things to base your theories off. With Higurashi Gou, it's almost completely gone.
Higurashi Gou DOES have 2 more episodes left after this week's Thursday but I'm sure it won't be able to redeem itself anytime soon. It's already past the point of no return and, when it was good, it was only for 6 episodes.
Overall, Higurashi Gou is not that good in my opinion. Obviously, YOU can like it, but as a person who considers Higurashi's manga and the 2006 anime important to myself, I have the right to explain how much I dislike Higurashi Gou, so please don't spam my comments. The same thing happened with Elfen Lied so I had to delete that review.

EDIT: I read about 1 or 2 volumes when I originally made this review and now I've completed reading the whole series. One of the best action manga I've read in awhile. Extremely recommend. All the things in the old review still stand.
Probably rating this way too high (in other people's eyes) but I'm pretty specific with what I like. I barely give any manga a solid 10/10 unless they somehow manage to amaze me to hell and back (not including this one, I gave 8 manga a 10/10.)
I am a sucker for action like this. I'm sure there's many many things out there that
...
follow a similar plot of "adult and child hitmen" or something along the lines but this was really good, even if it is possibly unoriginal.
It IS unfinished and I've only read the first volume in its entirety but even then, this still is a great manga series and I highly recommend it. The characters are awesome and I love the little girl, "Miharu". Probably a terrible comparison but she's pretty much Spike Spiegel here......or something along the lines, as said, probably terrible comparison.
Anyway, as of what I've read, this is a really easy 10/10. So far in vol. 2, my opinion's not changing. Sucks this is so underrated.
Also, I really really hope this doesn't get an anime adaptation. Please don't ruin it, big studios.
