Gravitation....it's cute. Shonen ai, and very light. Speaking for the anime itself, it's pretty good: short and sweet.
The story is simple, and far from anything truly original, about a protagonist, generally liked by everyone, who wants to bring their band to platinum level.
However, what makes this anime stand alone from the rest is the difference in characters. Being only 13 episode, there isn't a lot of chance for the characters to be discussed deeply, which is fine, considering this anime shouldn't be taken to seriously anyways. The characters are funny...even the jokes, however lame, sometimes leave me smiling.
The music is
...
good, and even if it's not exactly your style, I found that it was catchy enough to get used to, and it ended up complementing the characters and the series.
I would recommend that if you're in the mood for something light, and don't mind mildly implied shonen-ai, you should sit down and watch this. You can finish it in a day or two XD
Also, I'd like to mention that i saw this anime in English. And it's not all that bad, so if you have Comcast OnDemand, don't refrain from watching it simply because it's dubbed.

Utena: a work of absolute genius, in my opinion.
Pros: Character design, soundtrack, symbolism, depth, emotion, EVERYTHING
Cons: too much implied incest (not explicit, but implied between three brother/sister couples), cels get sloppy every once in a while.
It's difficult to get into at first, as the original idea might seem a little too simplistic: of people competing to win a girl. However, as the characters are introduced, and drama heightens, it becomes more like a drama on the surface. However, there are enough hints to lead the watcher into finding out that these characters are going to clash, all on the stage of
...
a battle arena. Clearly, someone is pulling the strings behind the characters actions and duels, and this is one of the mysteries somewhat solved as the series progresses. Throughout the second saga, secondary characters are used to give in depth histories on the primary characters, leading up to the third arc, in which everything seems to erupt into chaos. The real meaning of the Rose Bride is revealed, and the distresseing decisions and duels that take place are both intense and profound.
The funny thing about this anime are the characters. Many of them have large personality flaws that become more apparent and understood throughout the series, making it difficult to choose a character that the watcher relates to. However, as i continued watching the series, I found that almost all the characters are actually easy to relate to on some level, and although they have such pronounced traits, it doesn't make them shallow or flat at all. The characters also develop throughout the series, especially Utena herself.

Mnemosyne...twisted, bizarre, and graphic are good words to describe this set of OVAs. Despite that, this anime is both original and interesting, and almost instantaneously gripping.
The anime is extremely graphic, from torture, rape, cannibalism, with copious nudity and explicit sexual scenes. These scenes are well done by most anime standards, however, there are so many of these elements and themes that the plot is pretty obscured, leaving me wondering what the purpose of the anime was: to stuff every type of fanservice into 6 OVAs, or actually have a simple plot with a lot of graphic detail. It's pretty clear that until
...
the last episode, the plot had already taken a backseat, as the first five episodes appeared to be more vignettes than a coherent timeline.
As for characters, I would say they're amazing. Multi-faceted personalities, well designed, with pretty coherent animation made this anime more palatable to people not so used to graphic violence. Asogi Rin seems to be the typical tough woman protagonist, but throughout the series she slips away from the stereotype and becomes all her own character.
In Short:
Pros:
- Sound effects were amazing
- Good use of blood, not too much, but not censored either
- Character design was great
- Recurring themes seemed pretty constant
- sense of time throughout the series
Cons:
- Weak plot overridden with fanservice and gore
- Plotholes that seemed to be solved incompletely or too quickly
- Animation in the last episode seemed not as clear
