Another amazing movie by Studio Chizu.

ART: 10/10
This is the best 3D animation in an anime I've seen in my life, the 2D backgrounds and scenery were on part, if not better than from movies like in, or similar to Kimi no Na Wa. This movie is definitely a graphical wonder.

SOUND: 10/10
One of the main things in the movie is singing and music, and trust me when i say they made the sound part on par with the animation, just captivating.

STORY and CHARACTERS: 7/10
The story and the characters aren't really the strongest points of this movie. It's not a movie that's meant to be watched multiple ... times to understand the deep meaning behind it or to think about it for days after watching about the complex and deep story in it. No - it's a movie about singing, it's meant to be felt, not analysed, so all in all, the story and characters aren't the most important parts, so it's not really necessary for them to be the best.

ENJOYMENT and OVERALL SCORE: 9/10
I was surpised to see MAL rating at only ~7.5. That's probably because people try to look for deep meanings, perfect story pacing and perfect characterisation, sometimes forgetting that some things aren't meant to be overanalysed but are just meant to be enjoyed and felt in the moment.

The climax of the anime was just amazing, that scene alone was definitely a 10/10, but summing everything up, in total i would say this movie is a very strong 9/10.

*Firstly, my subjective thoughts:

At first i thought this manga was just a mindless ecchi with no real story or fathomable conclusion to expect so i dropped it and was going to rate it 5 or 6 (probably the low rating on MAL is because of this exact scenario repeating for other people) but after a few years i decided to finish the manga and i couldn't be happier with my decision to do so.

With almost every chapter from around the second half of the manga you start to feel that something bigger is ... happening behind the scenes, something, but you still don’t know exactly what, because there are so many possibilities of the truth behind everything that you stay wondering the whole time about the truth and when the story reaches its climax you finally understand that it wasn’t just a mindless ecchi story with no purpose. Or was it? I’ll leave for you to find out.

*Secondly, my objective overview:

Story:

The story is shrouded in mystery. Why did everyone disappear from the world? Why is the main character Miki still in it and why are there other lucky (or unlucky) ones also left in this world?

Although all these questions get answered, i can't tell you the answers here. At some points there are intriguing, unexpected, unexplained and mysterious things that suddenly happen but apart from this mysterious world, the story mainly consists of Miki travelling to meet her family with the hopes that they're still in this world. During the journey she meets other people and decides to join them, as they're on their own way to meet their families and they happened to be going the same direction.

The story has its own erotic, happy, sad, scary, thrilling and mysterious moments. It's definitely more than it seems at a first glance. It could have no ecchi and it would still be an engaging and interesting story.

Character:

Although character development in this story is not very profound and for some characters seemingly nonexistent, you couldn't say that it's the same for the main character Miki. As time goes on, we get to know why she is the way she is and what happened in the past for her to become like this. Things that at first seem to have no reason apart from instinctual desire become things that we learn to accept after understanding the reason behind them.

That said, the story definitely lacks realism with how characters react to the world. The main character is living in a drastically different world from what she's used to but for the most part of the story she doesn't really care about it that much, almost like it wasn't even real, like a dream.

Art:

To be fair, the art is not worthy of wallpaper material but for the years that this manga was running (from 2012), the art is definitely decent. It's not bad, not great but definitely decent.
