Warning: The plot doesn't finish in this season! Yes, you read right, the anime finishes in the middle of the story.
This anime is simply too bad (too low-budget) to have a plot that doesn't finish in a single season. It should have been one of those anime that you turn your brain off before you watch, finish it in this season, and then will forever forget that you have watched it.
Animation: 3/10. They save all their budget for the fighting scenes, but they are still poor.
Characters: 3/10. The MC goes from a nobody to suddenly being OP with no effort, and then his character development
...
stales there. The character development is the worst aspect of this anime.
Plot: 3/10. Superficial single-minded mini-bosses; almost no development of the main villain; and uninteresting side quests. This plot is all over the place and doesn't tackle the actual villain in this season at all.
I can't fathom how someone thought this would be a good story to animate... I also can't believe how would they get a second season to be accepted, since this anime is so bad I'm sure they lost their investment animating it.

It's like this anime was written by a 12yo girl, and I wonder who in their right mind accepted to make it into an anime and invested money on it.
This anime is ruined by the bad plot and the bad characters, and nothing saves it. The character's personalities are plain and superficial, and their actions are predictable but also you will find moments in which their actions betray their personalities so that the plot remains in track: for example, why didn't she actually manage to flee, if she's so obstinate? Why would she suddenly think about falling in love with an obsessive Prince after being
...
locked for so many years in the palace without liking him even a bit throughout all those years? This gap between her personality and actions is what keeps the plot together, but it fails to properly develop a justifiable romance between the main characters. The side characters are unlikeable, and their romances also fail to develop.
Some anime with bad plot just require us to turn our brain off and enjoy the ride, but this one is so bad that even turning your brain off you still won't enjoy watching it, and as someone that has kept it up until episode 11 I can tell you that this anime only gets worse.

It's painful to write this as "mixed feelings", but this season of Doctor Stone doesn't live up to the overall quality of the series so far. The main issues here are:
1. Too many filler scenes. For example, the whole first episode of this season is a filler - you wouldn't miss it at all if you were to skip and start from episode 2 onwards. If you pay attention later on, you will notice that a few episodes have only 1 or 2 meaningful events for the plot. Sadly, it feels that they are wasting screentime in order to prolong the story.
2. They are repeating
...
the plot from season 1 regarding the villain. I won't say much so I don't spoil it, but the villain this time has the same motivation as Tsukasa Shishio (claiming that his ambitions for the world are different from Senku's, and that's his justification for killing). This is frustrating, as we watch this season expecting something brand new to the story, but we are back to the same type of antagonist.
3. Lack of actual scientific content that is plot-related. We have had too many scenes teaching us how to make cocktails for example, and way less scenes about interesting scientific experiments that are plot-related compared to the previous seasons of Doctor Stone.
I rate it as mixed feeling because of the issues I pointed out, but Doctor Stone is still an amazing anime that is worth to watch. My goal is just to point out that if you are hyped about this season based on the previous Doctor Stone series, then you will probably be disappointed because this one is lacking compared to its antecessors.

Art: Beautiful.
Animation: Average.
Plot: Non-existent.
Characters: Too many of them, too little time to properly introduce and develop them.
The main character is the Sage, and I understand that she has "no personality" because this is based on a game and you want the player to feel in control of the main character. But an anime isn't a game, so this anime is being dragged down the drain by the fact that the Sage has almost no screentime, has zero personality, and rarely any dialogue.
The plot is non-existent because we are introduced to a lot of male characters (and I mean it when I say A LOT), so
...
much that we can't keep track of each character and they have no time to develop or make us feel connection to them. The plot gets stale as this anime keeps pushing new characters into the screen without a proper event to explain what's happening.
There is simply no reason to watch this. Even if it was just a promotional anime for the game, they failed miserably, as they are missing two key aspects to any anime: a plot and a main character.

Art and animation: 5/10. Often crooked and static, sometimes with a weird CGI.
Plot: 5/10. It's boring.
Characters: 5/10. They are the main reason for the plot being boring, because they are boring stereotyped characters.
This anime is a painfully average 5. It's a rip off of Suki tte Ii na yo but it has no redeeming quality.
The main character is a boring girl that used to be bullied and is learning how to become a better version of herself while developing a crush for the boy that is helping her socially. The guy is cool, popular and mysterious, and doesn't match her vibe. This plot is
...
very common for a lot of animes, but in the case of Honey Lemon Soda the couple is really missmatched and there is no saving their dynamics. Their scenes together are bad and they are more like "a caring owner with his puppy" rather than "a boy and a girl falling in love".
I could give this one a "mixed feelings" if it was just a boring story with boring characters, but the plot and the animation flushed this anime down the drain. The plot is repetitive and even after watching 5 episodes there's not a single meaningful and positive event that has happened. It's always the same formula "she gets bullied, he gives her moral support, she overcomes the situation and happy end". To try to spice things up they decide to add a "rival" that isn't evil like all the other characters that bully her, but even that just makes her more boring in comparison to her rival.
TLDR: it's boring and repetitive, and even if you like this kind of anime you can skip Honey Lemon Soda and head to Suki tte Ii na yo or other school romance anime.

The characters make this show so hard to watch... Specially Kawai Mona, she's "perfect" in every aspect and everybody loves her and she's so annoying and prideful making sure everyone loves her. A stereotyped unrealistic character like her doesn't develop well in a slice of life romance anime like this. It would be another thing if she secretly was someone that puts a lot of effort into becoming perfect, but that's not the case, she just has a weird plot-armor called "perfection".
The supporting characters aren't much better, but Kuroiwa Medaka actually gets very close to saving this show. He's the only sane around them, he's
...
kind-hearted and driven by his beliefs. He has a crush on Mona because she's acting all cute around him, and well, he's a teenager, it makes sense. But since all his relevant scenes are side by side with Mona, and she's unbearable, he's not able to save this anime.
The genre of this anime and target audience are a mystery, since it's a romance anime with a female lead (which points to a female audience) but they shove ecchi scenes left and right (which points to a male audience), and makes it unbalanced. The amount of ecchi scenes definitely overpower the romantic aspect of this anime, and that takes away the enjoyment in watching, because this anime is supposed to be a romantic comedy. Instead, all the "comedy" scenes are about something naughty.
On a side note, if you enjoy the premise of a cute schoolgirl that tries to win over a boy that she thinks she doesn't love, is a romantic comedy, and has good ecchi that matches the plot, then you are better off watching B-Gata H-Kei.

Mixed feelings for this one... The animation style is unlike any of the anime we usually watch, which isn't bad or poor, just unique. We have had a few animes in the past with similar animation, like Gokushufudou (Way of the Househusband), and that just means that the anime's plot has to be good to make up for the lack of animation.
The main issue is that they mostly tell us the useless parts of the story. The plot itself isn't bad, but instead of showing meaningful scenes of the MC's childhood, we are stuck with useless scenes of her chatting with her mother for more
...
than 2 entire episodes. Lilia is a wonderful character that is training hard to be good at magic, but there are no scenes about her training. Then, she somehow manages to get 2 spirits to be her familiars, but we have NO SCENE ABOUT IT??? She just appears with them out of nowhere.
Imagine a person in front of a rainbow, but they decide to take a photo of a puddle instead of a photo of the rainbow... That's exactly what the directors did with this anime. Not only that, but they also waste screentime like no other; for example, on episode 11, we have 02:55 minutes of duration, but 55 seconds is a review from ep 10, and 30 seconds is the ending music, so we are left with incredibles 1 minute and 30 seconds of actual episode.
Season 2 is coming out and we may finally get some romance scenes, since we barely got the male lead on this first season.

It's isekai. The MC has a cheat skill. It's harem. It has ecchi scenes. If you know what I'm talking about, and you are into it, then this anime will surprise you with an MC that is mature, respectful, and knows what he wants.
I think what got me interested the most in the beginning of this anime is his interaction with the inn-keeper, with a scene that subtly made it obvious that they spent the night. Our MC knows he's fairly older than the girls that are interested in him, and he even questions why they want him, but he still takes them (after all,
...
he knows what he wants!).
He tries to keep his cheat skill hidden, as he knows that becoming someone important would bring too much trouble. That's fair. The plots gets kinda messed up with the contrast of his technology and the medieval theme of the isekai, but if you are already used to this kind of anime then it won't be an issue.
The highlight of this anime is definitely the romantic interactions, as they are very direct and the female characters have good personalities. The MC is also good-hearted, mature, and doesn't pretend to be clueless or innocent, just respectful and oriented to his purposes.

This anime kept the good animation and art, but it also kept many issues and created new ones with the radical plot twist.
If you already watched the first season, you know that the characters had a huge plot event on the last episode, so they aren't the same on the second season. Honestly, the fact that the characters literally aren't the same (it's like they created a different dimension by altering the past) didn't go well with me. It created a quite a few plot holes that can already be seen on the first 4 episodes of season 2.
If I have to point out why
...
I rate it "mixed feelings" is because the plot made us lose connection with the characters and the story itself. Also, the fact that the story has such a fast pacing (we have situations presented and solved within 5 minutes) desensitizes the viewer and makes the story confusing because it omits a lot of important moments.
I will give a quick example of both the plot hole and the omission of important moments: Tinasha is kidnapped by thugs. The scene isn't present in the anime, just the mention of it. Now, how in the world would such a powerful character like her be kidnapped by simple human thugs? That's a plot hole. And if that was the case, that she really was outplayed by simple humans, wouldn't it be important to properly explain in the anime about how this came to happen? That's an important scene that was omitted.
In the end, I'm leaning more towards "Not recommended", but the animation and characters are really interesting, so I'll keep watching to see where this goes and then update this review when I'm done watching.

It's a beautiful anime, the concept is great and it's executed nicely... But unfortunately it's lacking. It's supposed to be an anime that gets you emotional, that hits hard about the meaning of death and how to cope with losing a loved one, but this anime wasn't able to do so.
I can't pinpoint how it went wrong, but at the end of it we are left with an impression that this anime was wishy-washy. I noticed that they strongly focused on Mai (the couple's daughter) in order to avoid issues about the age gap between the couple, and that was a highlight of this anime,
...
but on the other hand it made the Father merely a father and not a "husband". It made his character weak and unlikeable.
This is "mixed feelings" because I think that the story is worth it, but the anime isn't. So I would instead recommend watching the live action instead.
