Two anime that take place in the future, they are protecting the place were they live after the solar sistem was destroyed. In both anime the enemy is an alien race with huge tentacles. The animation is different, while in Gargantia we can use the word cute for the animation in Sidonia we can say it's simple. Also the Sidonia is more serious and should be guidance for the the rest of seinen category, while Gargantia is also there but has more the happy happy moments in it.

Thanks goes to Studio 4C for the animation work, in both cases. The first part of the Genius Party is the most similar to Haru wa Kuru. In both parts we follow a strange being that is just wandering around the world. Around this journey some strange things happen that is for the audience to interpret.

In both anime's the main male protagonist find themselves (for them at the moment) in a wierd place, surrounded by strange people. But in no time they get used to it. Both anime's have a piece of supernatural related storys, and the comedy is mutual in them. The music is also good if you ask me.

Nurarihyon no Mago

There is more than one similarity within these two series. The biggest one is the life of the two main charachters. In the morning Yoshimori (Kekkaishi) and Rikuo (Nurarihyon no Mago) they going to school having a normal life with their friends, classic Slice of Life anime, but when the Sun goes down they both become a different persons they both chosen ones - so to say, and they are not sure at the beginning are they fit to inherit they grandfathers place! They both protect humans although Rikuo is 1/4 demon! The fighting, comedy and tension is mutual in both anime's. So there is no mistake, you will definitely like both anime's if you like demons/spirits action!

Two great anime about friendship, it shows us the good side and the bad side of it. How can one be corrupted by money or blinded by love etc. Both story's have great emotional background, show's us how young people survive in war conditions. Also involves mafia and yakuza showdown. The main diference in this two anime's is that GunGrave has it's SciFi side, while Rainbow it's sport related side (boxing) to the story.

Two game based anime movies, with awesome animation and lot of action where the fighting scenes are almost flawless. The details are pinpoint accurate, with a decent amount of blood&gore. Also it's helpfull if you played the game's or read a little something regarded to the games because it will maybe be a little hard to understand the story or to connect some characters with the main story.

Giant Killing

It's hard to compare Giant Killing with any other football related anime because they almost play real football. There is no jumping 20 feet in the air or the ball is not on fire when the player makes a free kick etc... So i think Kaiji is similar in more way's that one. Both anime's are about a game, and while Giant Killing is a team play Kaiji from Kaiji makes sure that he has teammates when he plays the games he is forced. So Kaiji is more darker anime but the two main protagonist from these anime's are very similar, they smart and analyzing all little details to makes sure they win! Giant Killing has it's funny side and it's more relaxed from Kaiji. But the art is also quite similar and the music in both anime's are WIN!

Both anime movies presents us the life after the Second World War, but there is a little time difference because in Gen the movie starts right after the atomic bombing while in Furusato Japan after 10 years of the end of WW2! Both movies are showing us how hard it was for the kid's in that period, the education first of all and then the rest, economy etc. So the movies include stealing, fighting etc. In both movies there is some sad moments for losing a friend/parent. The difference in the movies is that in Furusato Japan they also focusing on singing old Japanese folk songs for they loved ones. But the meaning in both movies is the same, and they are very sad but true stories if I may say so!

Both anime's are about girl fighting (martial arts with some super power), and it's school against school. Our heroines are fighters but they don't fight with the intent of killing someone. Ikkitousen already has 4 seasones and it's quite possible there will be 5th, while Natsuki Crisis is only a 2 episode OVA and has that nice old school animation.

In both anime our main charachters go into other peoples dreams/nightmares to help/fight to prevent the consequences/damage that they can do to themselves or other people around them. Two very similar anime's we have here, but only in one way and that is the main charachter and his friends/team and all the happy and serious moments that go with them. Slam Dunk is closer to the real basketball play then Hungry Heart is to real football, but the atmosphere during the games in both animes are sometimes breathtaking. The only difference in the main charaters is that Sakuragi from Slam Dunk never played basketball before joining the school team while Kanou did but he stoped for a period for some resones. Through the anime both of them became the key player of the team, and they aim to win the nationals.

Well these two anime's how much they are alike that much they are different! The art it's similar, and the story around the main protagonist is alike, they both train martial arts, and later on they find themselfs in a need to aid a girl. Where she is the key to achieve some peoples plan so a group of people are after her. On this journey our hero makes some friends and some enemies also. From this point on the difference emerge because the atmosphere in Now and Then, Here and There is much darker and has a lot of violence, blood, torture and some serious psychological side effects, while Fantastic Children is a slow-paced anime.

Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin

well maybe not the best comparison, but it's a little hard because although Rainbow has 20 volumes there is only 3 chapters translated ... while Ashita no Joe it's completed with 20 volumes but only has 55 chapters translated, at the moment (april 11, 2010) but so far these two are similar because they in a juvenile prison, and they are in prison because they tryed to help someone and/or some petty crimes to survive in the hard times they are living! they also try to escape from prisone in both manga's and they are come across a boxer, and because of that they begin to train. while Ashita no Joe has some comedy scenes and so far it's not so serious like Rainbow which is without the elements of comedy and so far it looks like it won't have any! I will update if more chapter's will translated, maybe i was wrong to compare these two manga's.

Well although Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (2000) is the "new" season it's also the beginning of the series ... anyways this two anime's have almost the same idea, except Jojo is more violent and bloody than Shaman King. But in both anime's the main character has the ability to summon a spirit which helps him through his journey. On there journey they make friends that have the same ability and they join him on his mission to fight against evil!

First let me make myself clear about one thing and that is: both anime's failed my expectation more or less. Anyways in both anime there is an immortal samurai, that somehow finds himself in a need to aid a woman. But i must admit that the animation and the figthing scenes are good, but the story is not in the best way transmited from the manga. Also they lack a good ending.

In both anime the story evolve around a young boy who in the begining is not willing and strong enough to fight evil spirits. Both of them need to defend a land in one case a sacred land in other the capitol. Also both of them over the day have school/job that they need to attend, and the nigth is they duty to be exterminator of monsters. They make friends along the way and familiy also helps them out. Comedy is present in both anime, which is good, and the music in them is also excellent! Well maybe the main difference is the time setting. Also waiting for second season for both, because the manga/novel is still ongoing and there is a chance for good sequel! Enjoy ^^

Well you probably wondering how come this two anime's are similar ? The answer is quite simple, in both the main characters are new in the field of the sport they "playing", and were they are trying to become one of the best! Also a lot of delinquents action so the figthing is mutual in both anime's :) And must not forget the comedy that is present, it's probably better than in some animes that are focused on only that ! :)

Both anime comes from MADHOUSE, also done by the same director and mangaka. The main characters are very similar.
