The story is about a nameless boy who takes interest of a mysterious girl name Hanako. As the name implies, The name of the anime, Hanako is about Hanako. The art style reminds me of Ping Pong the animation as the the characters and setting are drawn very loose and fluid. Same can be said about its animation. The anime is complimented with lighthearted piano music in order to convey and betray the tone of the anime. For an indie animation, this honestly caught me by surprised. Without going into spoilers, this anime is not meant to make any sense narratively. It's meant to impact
...
you within a short time frame. And for an indie animation, I think it does a great job of doing that.

One of the best anime to come out of 2021, and possibly one of the best anime to come out in history.
Story: The story is basically cute hamster cars doing cute things. This ranges from them hanging out with each other, racing, eating together, partying, dancing, etc. Pui Pui Molcar is a simple anime with no complexity to its story. Each episode is self-contained as well as being 2 minutes long. Making it the perfect anime to turn your brain off.
Art style: One of the highlights of this show are its visuals. Instead of traditional 2D animation, this anime uses fluff as a
...
way of forming its identity (Something I don't see in many forms of media). It compliments the furry nature of real hamsters which is why it works so well. As for the character designs of the hamsters, they are charming in a nostalgic way. They look like something a child would come up with as it combines fluffy animals with materialistic objects. I find the concept absurd and cute at the same time.
Sound: The most iconic sounds effects from this anime are the jingles that are played at the start and end of each episode, and the squeaky noises the hamster cars make as they move. Both the jingles are upbeat and light-hearted which reflects the anime's cute energy. The squeaky noises blend perfectly with the nature of cute tiny animals, as well as cars. Overall, these sounds are simple yet effective.
Characters: None of the cars have names, or any unique personality traits. Some people may find that to be an issue, but I think it is perfectly fine since this anime is meant to be easy to consume. I find it reassuring that I don't have to remember the names of every hamster car, as well as what they do. Instead, every hamster car is distinguishable by appearance alone.
Verdict: It was a very enjoyable anime from start to finish. It's a cute cozy anime that I didn't need to put any effort into watching. For me, it is a solid 10/10 for me.

SPOLIER WARNING:
This OVA was such a major disappointment. While the series in general isn't perfect, I personally enjoyed down to the bone. I love how this anime touched upon dark sensitive topics and expressed them in artistic ways. When I heard Wonder Egg was getting an OVA, I was optimistic that it would either answer some questions or promote a second season since I found it hard to believe that one extra episode would add any closure. After watching the OVA, I was more disappointed than a kid who got coal for Christmas. I was more traumatized than a war veteran by how shockingly horrible
...
it was. In this review, I'm going to go over the highlights of what made this OVA hotter than volcanic horse poo.
30 min recap: In general, I passionately despise recap episodes as it doesn't contribute anything to the story. It is an insult, in the sense that it treats viewers like they have short attention spans who forget things easily. The first time they did this, I let it slide since I was enjoying it. But the fact that they had the audacity to do it again, is truly shameless beyond words. To make things worse, it takes up 2/3 of the episode which already killed my enjoyment, but it doesn't there.
Unanswered questions: The only good thing this OVA did was expand the world build of what happens to the victims who are revived (They lose their memory). Besides that, this OVA leaves more questions than answers. It introduces more story elements that are never fully explored. For example, we get a sense of why Koito unalived herself, but we still don't fully understand her true motives. What did Koito do at her old school that made her previous teacher unalive himself? Why did the friendly and supportive Koito we know, threaten Sawaki to jump off with her? We learn this new side to Koito, but it is never answered. Another example, is why Neiru decided to abandon her friends to become a human. During her dream sequence, she says she was going to blow the enemy's mind and that she wants to see her friends, but after Frill tells her that she can become human, Neiru is easily persuaded like a kid in a candy store. This just randomly happens and we're never told why she accepted Frill's offer over her friends. Having these answered would've made the anime more enjoyable, but because it happens out of nowhere, it just feels awkward that the show would even introduce these things in the first place. Just like everyone else, I was blue balled with none of my questions answered.
Laziness: Besides the 30 minute recap hogging 2/3 of the OVA, there are two scenes that shows how lazy this OVA was made. The first one being the rain scene. The first time watching the OVA, I didn't realized Ai was having a conversation with Neiru's sister in the lobby. I was confused since the conversation that was happening didn't match the setting. Instead of animating the conversation in the proper setting, they decided to go with a poorly drawn Ai running in the rain for almost the whole conversation which was hilarious, but it doesn't end there. When Tanabe shows Neiru's dream to Ai and Rika, we don't get to see Neiru's interaction with the enemies. Instead, we're just shown still images of the characters being zoomed in on. I'm lead to believe that the animators were either on crunch time, or simply too lazy to draw those sequences properly.
Rushed ending: Near the end when Neiru finally tries to get in contact with Ai. Despite Ai, constantly trying to contact her, she ends up throwing her phone out then immediately regrets. None of that makes any logically sense. But it gets worse, Ai randomly transfers to a new school and we're never told why. Was it to avoid her friends associated with the Wonder Eggs? Was it because Koito didn't remember her? The OVA never explains. All we're given is that she had no reason to go to her old school. Then after some time lapse, she suddenly has the urge to go hatching wonder eggs again. But it makes no sense because Ai has already saved Koito, so who is she fighting for now? This all happens within the span of 4 minutes which shows how rushed it was.
Verdict: Even if we do get a 2nd season. I've lost all my optimism after watching that horrible OVA. I'll still watch it, but I will not have any faith on its success. I wish I can pretend this OVA never existed, but I enjoyed the first 12 episodes so much that seeing this was traumatizingly bad. 1/10. I'd give it a 0/10, but MAL doesn't have that. Overall, DO NOT WATCH THIS OVA!

This has got to be one of the most disappointing shows of this season. I was very late into watching this anime so I decided to marathon all 10 episodes today.
Story: (5/10): The story is basically about a man and women who had played a previous MMO in the past, and coincidentally reunite with each other digitally again, and physically for the first time. They eventually get to know each other and then it becomes a rom com. Not a bad concept, but the way they set the tone is what pisses me off. Most of the events that set the tone for other events
...
either happen because of how staged the events are, or by pure coincidence.
Art: (6/10) The art style is not bad, I like the different color palettes that distinguish the real world and the MMO world. I like how the character designs are also distinguishable by the 2 worlds; the ones in the MMO are colorful/fantasy like, while their characters in the real world are simplistic.
Sound: (6/10) I don't care about the sound. It didn't leave any impression on me. I watched this anime without acknowledging its soundtracks.
Characters: (4/10) Morioko is one of the most annoying characters in this show; she's always putting herself down because of how she thinks people see her as a NEET. She doesn't get out of that mindset until VERY late into the series. I know that Sakurai is suppose to be Morioko's sunshine, but his role is very repetitive and used in many romance anime that deal with a sad female protagonist. Personally Sakurai doesn't impact me in the slightest. I don't feel like any of the other MMO characters serve any purpose in the anime; they're just wasted character slots. Koiwai was a pretty cool character, I like his foxy personally and he serves many purposes in the anime; more than the main characters since he's the one who gets them together multiple times.
Enjoyment: (4/10) I didn't enjoy it as much. Every episode felt like a chore to watch, and so many other anime do a better job of conveying romance and comedy. Nothing in this anime left an impression on me because of how plain it was.
Overall: (6/10) It's not that the anime was bad. It's not interesting, and nothing stands out to make an impression on you.
