I heard about the manga a while before the anime came out. Most people warned how much it pushed the boundary between ecchi and straight up hentai, while some minority were praising it for its detailed vision of a post-apocalyptic world. So I gave the anime a go, wondering how much plot is in this compared to the "plot". It turns out I am somewhat disappointed. While the mystery did manage to capture my attention, I was genuinely hoping that the story could focus more on the post-apocalyptic side. For example, how popular culture might shift in a world dominated by females, and how that
...
might affect the economy. Those are the things I was looking for, and so far there isn't much elaboration on it. Furthermore in recent episodes, the show constantly switches points of views between two of the main characters, making the pacing very awkward. So far this show is exactly what it seems like on the surface, and I was an idiot for thinking it could somehow have decent plot when all it has is just the "plot". Still, for people looking for "plot", I'd recommend this. Just make sure your doors are closed when watching. Personally I am interested in none of that so I'm dropping the show, and will just read the wikipedia page later to find out the mystery.

These are quite well done OVAs.
Story-wise I'd say they're both meh. This is a character-driven narrative so it's completely okay for the story to be meh. The characters are where this series shines. The TV series did a very good job developing and familiarizing us with them. The OVA then put these characters we're very familiar with into unfamiliar situations, and it paid off. Especially in the second one, where the cast of comedic main characters are put in an actual serious situation. It was very refreshing to see how they acted while still maintaining their own personalities. We've also been shown sides of
...
characters we've never seen before. For example, Raphiel actually caring for someone is something I could never have imagined, and it just made the story all the more heartwarming.
I wouldn't say I enjoyed this more than actual masterpieces out there, but I did enjoy them quite a bit, since it's quire rare for me to give out 8's to OVAs in general. To give it context, my 8's are given to the likes of Hunter x Hunter. These OVAs are definitely worth watching for people who enjoyed the TV series and want to see more of the characters. Also it's only 15 minutes per episode on average, so why not?

I got into this movie because all I keep hearing great things about it. And while I did get some great things out of it, there are also some blatant problems that I just can't ignore. The story telling is kind of weak in my opinion. The point of the story is that the two gradually change and complete each other with their own ways of living, but for most of the movie it felt like she's just one-sidedly changing him. The fact that they needed 20 minutes of reading her final message to explain what was going on from her point of view just
...
further proves my point. Let me also address the elephant in the room, what was that cause of death? It's so anticlimactic I was shocked. not from sadness but from anger. I understand it's for minor plot convenience but still... The movie didn't hit me as hard as it should, possibly because I wasn't 100% focused, but even if it did, I would probably still not give it a score above 8.

THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS
I see so many reviews with a low score because either because of the setup or the characters, and it has pushed me to write my first ever review in case people are misled by them. This is by no means a 10/10 show, but it's definitely not a 1 or 2/10 show either.
OK, for the setup, yes, I understand that if any of this shit gets found in real life, it's FBI open up, but part of the point of this show is that everything has an exception, i.e., what if this encounter is a beneficial one? Besides, the difference
...
between their age is not even that big, she's 17 and he's only 25. That's only 8 years apart. Why is everyone acting like he's 30 years old? I honestly don't understand.
As for the characters, yes, the action of those colleagues are slightly questionable, IF they are complete strangers with the main character, but they're not, and this is what's called putting some trust in your friend okay? When something happens to them, your first reaction shouldn't be doubting the fuck out of them, you should instead try to first understand the situation they're stuck in, and then think of ways you can help them. And besides, they're not without doubt too at first, so this is already realistic enough.
OK, now for the ACTUAL review.
Story: 8/10
I notice that the light novel industry has a trend where they'll bait you in with hentai-like titles, but then actually serve you a proper meal. If you think this show is just for fan service and what not, then I don't even know if we're watching the same show. This show is about a teenager getting the help she desperately needs to overcome her past trauma, getting to know that there are good people out there willing to care for her, unlike her parents and the previous unlucky encounters. And that's not all, her coming to the main character's place impacts the lives of the main character and everyone around him as well. There are moments where even I learned something new. like that talk about how one should live their life not being remembered as someone who kept running away. The whole thing's decently structured as well, at least I didn't feel like anything was out of place. Yes, the pacing might be a bit slow, but that's because it really does take some time for some random stranger to fully come into one's life.
Art and sound: 7/10
These are just average. They're rarely that bad these days anyway. Neither good enough nor bad enough for me to notice them.
Characters: 9/10
I've already said quite a lot about the characters. This is obviously a character driven show as opposed to a plot driven one, and pretty much all of the characters are carrying this show hard. Their dynamics are interesting. The teenager is getting all the hope and courage from these new people she's meeting, the main character's decisions are more impacted by what he wants to do as opposed to what he's expected to do, the colleagues have mixed feelings, but are supportive of him at the end (like seriously, those are some of the best colleagues I've ever seen at an office job in anime).
Enjoyment: 8/10
This is not gonna lie, the third anime I'm most looking forward to every week, when we have this many good shows this season. It's good, but I'm personally not a drama fan. I'm more geared towards psychological horror.
Overall: 8/10
I rarely give out 8's actually, most of my ratings are 7's and 6's or even lower. True to the score title, this is "very good", but it's definitely far from amazing or perfect.
