I'm just going to make this short as I can to get my point across. This came from an amazing visual novel and it was great from start to finish, though the problem is this adaptation. First lets talk about how this show was not nearly as long as it should have been. The trials alone took around 2 and a half to around 3 hours in the visual novel, yet in the anime here their impact, emotions, and stress the characters felt, all were almost nonexistent in this adaptation. While the story was roughly the same the characters did not get development at all
...
pretty much as well as many other things were cut out as well. This should have been at least 26 to around 40 eps at least. The visual novel is great and definitely worth reading before this. I definitely would recommend that before this adaptation and if you still wanted to watch an anime version after then I would rec to watch this but only like that, otherwise this show just ruins the entire visual novels plot and cases. So in conclusion this should only be watched if you have completed the visual novel.

Monster is a story that focuses on the questions "What really makes a monster?". It follows a doctor (Kenzou Tenma) in pursuit of the truth and to save lives.
Story: Monster's story is very dark and focuses on 5 main characters each in pursuit of a specific goal. Good and evil people are presented often in the story and can within seconds change from a wonderful person to a terrible "Monster". The story is mostly a psychological and mystery with elements of action here as well some fantastic drama. Monster's characters are also well written and each one of them add an interesting and new
...
perspective to the story. From the start to the end this story will keep you thinking "Who really is the monster".
Characters: There are 5 main characters in Monster, they are Kenzou Tenma, Heinrich Lundge, Eva Heinemann, and the twins Anna and Johan Liebert.
Kenzou Tenma: Is a brilliant brain surgeon who values all human life equally and wants to save everyone he can. After a series of murders with him labeled as the prime suspect Tenma tries to find out exactly who is the murderer and how to stop him.
Eva Heinemann: A women who just wants a happy life and when her perfect life is taken from her after a series of murders happens, searches for a way to get vengeance and for happiness.
Heinrich Lundge: a brilliant BKA agent that has had such success believes without a doubt he is always right and after a series of murders occur, he relentlessly searches for the one he believes is the culprit.
Anna and Johan Liebert: After a series of murders, these mysterious twins disappear without a trace, these twins are key to solving the mystery behind everything that has happened.
All of these characters are excellently written as well as the great supporting characters to.
Art and Sound: the openings and closings fit the show very well and the art is well done to with nice animation nicely drawn characters and greatly made scenes.
Enjoyment: Throughout the show I was amazed at how much it keeps you wanting more and how it keeps you guessing what happens next. Since the show's many characters are all different and have their own morals and perspectives you will likely find one that you like to see more of throughout the story.
Overall: Monster is a wonderful show for any fans of horror, mystery, psychological and drama. Its a great show from beginning to end and will keep you wondering "what really makes a monster?"

I though this would be similar to Death Note when I first heard about this show, the L(Death Note main character) like main character Victorique de Blois seemed interesting to me so I gave it a shot. This show far exceeded any expectations I had for it, from interesting mysteries to a heartwarming romance with great drama and wonderful bits of comedy and action here and there throughout the show. Gosick is without a doubt one of the greatest shows I have ever seen.
Story: It all starts in the spring of the year 1924 when Kazuya Kujo is sent to Saubure as a transfer student
...
to St. Marguerite Academy. Here horror stories and urban legends are popular and due to his appearance he is ostracized by his classmates. Once he goes to the library though things begin to change, there he meets a small brilliant girl by the name of Victorique. Victorique is able to solve any mystery you throw at her and as a result is usually asked for help in solving crimes from her brother Grevil. Shortly after they meet Victorique and Kazuya find themselves being thrown into one mystery after another. Throughout the show the story never gets boring as you never know what exactly is going to come next. You may think that the first half of the story is irrelevant to the rest but it places key factors for the second half and not only that you see great character development from both Victorique and Kazuya as well as some interesting mysteries. The second half of the series is where this show truly shines though, from masterful storytelling to even greater character development the second half is just simply amazing.
Characters: Victorique is a brilliant girl who spends all day in the library of the academy reading books only really leaving it to sleep. She is noted for her small height and long golden hair appearing almost doll-like to people. She hates boredom and loves sweets, though initially cold to Kujo she begins to open up more to him as the series progresses and also has wonderful character development throughout the story.
Kujo is a Japanese exchange student who wants to live up to his father high expectations. His appearance getting him a bad reputation from the others at the academy, he doesn't manage to make any friends until he meets Victorique. Throughout the story his character develops quite wonderfully from a boy who just uphold his families honer to a man who wants to protect the woman he loves.
The side characters of the story provide a good support to the story throughout the series, from the funny moments that help gives the viewer a breather from the drama and mysteries (but yet not to long of a break to make us get bored with the story) to the other side characters help provide with the great drama, mysteries and sometimes though a bit of action as well.
Art and Sound: The art of the show is great as well as it provides good animation and wonder environments with great detail to the people, places and other things as well. The sound of the show was great as well, from great voice actors that fit the characters to a great opening song and two great closings for the show.
Enjoyment: The show was very enjoyable from beginning to end from the great mysteries and wonderful romance it managed to keep me guessing what would happen next and also managed to tug the heartstrings at the same time.
Overall: Overall with all of the character developments and the outstanding story, Gosick truly provides a wonderful story from beginning to end which is one of the best anime endings of all time in my opinion. I would highly recommend this anime to anyone who loves mysteries, romances and/or dramas.
This anime is truly a masterpiece.

Death Note is one of those anime that almost everyone knows about and for good reason the show has some of the most well written characters and an even more well written story.
The story revolves around the concepts "is it okay to kill someone evil" and "should anyone hold the power to end someone's life on a whim". The story starts off with Ryuk a Shinigami Death God and Light Yagami, they are both bored in their world so Ryuk decides to drop the Deathnote (a notebook with the power to kill any person whos name is written in it) Light happens to find the
...
notebook a doesn't believe in it at first until he tries it, this gives Light the idea to "make the world a better place by killing off the worlds criminals". This causes a chain of events that lead to the world's greatest detective L who is known for being able to solve any case to take up the charge of capturing whoever is responsible for killing the criminals. The story takes many twists and turns making you wonder is this it for Light? Or is this it for L? Through masterful storytelling Death Note's story is no normal mystery you already know who the culprit of the murders are it is a matter just sitting back and watching the events unfold. Death Note contains many journeys through lies, deceit and the mind games and suffering that those bring.
The characters are extremely well written in this story. First Light Yagami, a genius high-school student who is bored out of his mind. Once Light gets a hand on the Death Note things start to finally seem interesting to him and he decides to use it to make the world into a better place or at least what he believes to be a better place. Throughout the series we see many sides of Light such as cruelty, caring, acting, a mastermind and a god like persona. After seeing all of those sides to Light you come to understand him and ultimately hate or love his character.
Next we have L the worlds greatest detective who has decided to track down the killer of the criminals, no one knows his name or face except for his special assistant Watari. L is the same as Light in many ways but different in many as well, their conflicting values and morals leads to many mind games between the 2. L is a great character because if you end up hating Light you will probably love L's character they are so similar yet still remain as different as can be due to the wonderful story telling.
Other characters include Misa Amane who is in love with Kira (the name the public gave to the mysteries killer of criminals). Misa is the perfect compliment to Light she is able do things Light can't but also hinders him at the same time making Light extremely frustrated at times. N and M are also major characters in the story as they are rivals yet must work together if they wish to achieve their goal.
The investigation team are also major characters in the story as they provide some comedic moments in the story as well some help to L and Light throughout the story.
The art and the sound of the show was good fluid animation well placed sounds and good scenes. The opening and the endings of the show's first and second half are great to.
Overall the series was extremely enjoyable as it brings out the concepts I listed before and gives the viewer the question "what is right and what is wrong".
This show will always remain in my top 5 best shows I have ever seen and it might just make yours as well.
I would highly recommend this show to anyone especially if you like psychological anime.

First off when I first came across this show I thought what a stupid looking show, fortunately though I decided to watch this masterpiece.
The story starts off with Yukiteru Amano, a shy teenager with a lack of social skills who is always entering entries into his cell phone. He usually spends his time at home talking to his imaginary friends Dues Ex Machina and Murmur, to his shock he finds out his imaginary friends are actually real and Dues bestows upon him the Random Diary which allows him to tell the future. He seems to enjoy this diary at first at least until he gets
...
a Dead End which foretells his death. Now part of a deadly game where he must slay the other 11 diary holders or die himself, he must now fight to survive with the help of his stalker Yuno Gasai who also has a diary herself. Throughout the series the show manages to keep you guessing with multiple plot twists (especially at the end) and great characters as well as having a solid amount of action and romance.
The characters in the show really work well with eachother as they all have their reasons for participating in the dangerous game or for helping Yukiteru and Yuno survive it. First Yukiteru Amano, he starts out a really weak and shy kid but after being in the game for a bit with Yuno, he progressively gets stronger and even at moments in the series really shines as a character. He doesn't trust or even like Yuno, but as the story progresses he really begins to fall in love with her. He is the perfect character to complement Yuno's character.
Yuno Gasai is just a girl in love to the point where she is willing to kill anyone who tries to take her beloved away from her or anyone who tries to hurt Yukiteru. Yuno is driven by her love for Yukiteru and is willing to sacrifice her own life to protect his if the situation calls for it. Throughout the series Yuno does her best to kill the other diary holders so that her love can become God, even though it will mean her eventual death. Her progression throughout the story coupled with the fact that she is a mystery throughout the show allows her to be a character that is able to at times just be a young girl who is love and wants to be with Yukiteru and at times ready to kill anyone who stands in the way of her goal indiscriminately.
The diary holders also provide excellent additions to the story since they all have their own goals and plans in mind to become God. The stories for the diary holders allow you to see from their side and give you a good understanding to why they have chosen to what they have. This allows the story to have characters that are not bland but have a reason for being that way, you might think they are evil you might not but in the end you will understand them a bit.
Other characters throughout the series provide great support to the story as well such as Aru Akise and Yukiteru's other friends as they try to find out the mystery behind Yuno and protect him from her if need be.
The art of the show was wonderful in my opinion as well as having great openings and closings for each half of the show. The animation was fluid and style really helps you get the emotion of the scene.
Overall it is an extremely good show and very enjoyable at times, there is thrilling action and at times everyone is trying to find out the mystery behind the next diary holder. If you like anime that contains action, romance, or even just mysteries this show provides all of that. If you watch the show and enjoy it it is a good idea to watch the Mirai Nikki Redial OVA to get the true ending to the series.
I would highly recommend this show to anyone.

This is my first review so i m not sure how these should be exactly written but i guess i will just write how i felt about each of the aspects of the story. When i first saw this anime i thought it was just going to be a harem with a bland story and even blander characters, i was wrong. First of all this is not a harem because its is in an omnibus format, which means the story resets after each of the story's arcs which there are 6 of (one for each of the girls). Each arc contains 4 episodes.
The story revolves
...
around a high-school boy Junichi Tachibana and how he was stood up for a date 2 years ago which troubles the way he thinks about relationships and also lowers his self esteem a bit, until he meets 1 of the girls in each of the arcs. The way that this anime uses its own omnibus style to break into 6 little arcs and still contain such a great romance in each arc is amazing. The story manages to bring out the emotions of romances that would normally last 3 times the length in each arc in just 4 episodes each arc contains all the characters of the show but still manages to make it so that a good story between Junichi and the girl of the arc happens.
The characters are great as well, you have the average high-school boy Junichi Tachibana who has problems with self esteem like i mentioned earlier. He is not the typical dense main character you might find in a less well made anime, but neither is he overly likable he is just an average kid who many of us could relate to at that age. None of the girls are bad as well they all have their own lives and their own problems and are not the typical overly affectionate and/or tsundere to the main character, which allows them to be they relateable as well which ends up leading to a more realistic romance which really helps with the story and the romance. A couple of the girls for example are his childhood friend and the most popular girl in school.
The music of this anime is great in the fact that each girl sings her own version of the theme in the end which is a nice add to each arc. The art of this anime was good as well not the best but certainly not the worst.
Overall I really enjoyed this show and the only con I could find with it is that it left me wanting more for each story, although this is lessened by the second season of the show Amagami SS Plus which adds 2 episodes to each arc to bring to a total 6 episodes per arc. That sequel is a must watch if you enjoyed Amagami SS.
In conclusion I really enjoyed this anime and the way it told its story with the omnibus format which allows you to pick your favorite arc and basically choose that as the real story(which might happen after even the first arc). Anyway I hope to see more romance anime with this omnibus style in the future because i thought this was a really unique way of story telling.
I would highly recommend this show to anyone who loves romance anime.
