I was excited to read something that finally had working adults as the center of romance. But after reading through the 3rd book I wasn't finding hardly any romance anywhere. Hirotaka and Narumi feel like a couple in name only, Koyanagi and Kabakura do nothing but fight and neg each other, and Ko and Naoya are barely feeling each other out.
The manga is also a bit annoying to read, as it'll have several unconnected plots going simultaneously, but not sequentially. So you'll have an A plot, follow by gags or one shots, followed by B plot, gags, then A plot again, B plot again, more
...
gags, but then surprise, back to B plot, even though A plot hasn't finished. It's rather confusing so sometimes I would think a scenario had wrapped up, only for it to come back at the end of the book or in the next volume.
The otaku aspect is fine and all, nothing too cringe, and thankfully the books have a sort of translation guide to explain jokes, but honestly since there's no romance to speak of and none of the characters are that interesting, it's mostly a comic about nerds being nerds, but in a boring way. If I wanted to just revel in being a nerd, I can go talk about my own doujinshi interests with friends. Art's decent, although I have to wonder why the artists bothers drawing some things when they just cover up all the character's faces with speech bubbles. You can definitely tell it's an ascended amateur work from pixiv is all I can say.
