It was surprisingly nice.

The art is good, but nothing extraordinary. Story is much better - typical for manga in some ways (the matter with the Kiriyuus), but still something original.

Firstly I believed that it'll be another incest between father and daughter (OK, he's step-father, but still I don't like it - even if he's young, he's still her father).
Fortunately - there are some quite incestuous fragments, but's it's not romance. Hooray!

The heroine, Mei, is quite normal and nice girl. Her step-father's personality makes him interesting character, but honestly - it's oneshot. And it's fair as the oneshot, but whole story lacked something. I liked ... that it was about parent-child relationship without any romance, but it's not enough to became good manga.

"A small world" has some strong points - topic and main hero (Reiji) - but that's all. It's too average to be remembered for long.

"Adele to Darius" is clearly inspired by well known "Arabian Nights". The story is short and quite simple, but enjoyable.

I really loved the art - I've weak spot for fantasy mangas inspired by Asian cultures, especially that of Middle East. The second thing which I really liked was the theme - I've loved Scheherazade's stories when I was a child and "Adele to Darius" gave me a really nice feeling. It's totally subjective, but I believe many people can feel this way.

It's nice, it's short - maybe little too short, some more pages wouldn't hurt, but is good just as it is. It was ... pleasurable and easy, and it's honesty was nice. I really enjoyed it as a break from more serious and/or ambitious mangas.

That author of "0 no Soukoushi" is Kaori Yuki, the first mangaka whose name I've remembered. Her style of art and story is so unique, that it cannot be mistaken with somebody's else.

This one is pretty good for people, who start their adventure's with Yuki-sensei work. The art is amazing like always - dark, stunning, marvellous, but not so gloomy as it can be in her other mangas. It's lighter, but not light and it's really big plus.

The same goes for story - we have some difficult cases and perfumer, who more or less unwillingly play the role of detective. The main hero and ... heroine are really nicely done. They aren't clones of billions manga characters, but people of flash and blood. The story wouldn't be so interesting if not for them. What's important, the reader can really like them, remember them and there isn't any dark in them. Yuki-sensei likes controversies, but she somewhat make that one easier for reader, and I really liked it. It's really a pity that this manga is so short.

The biggest both advantage and disadvantage is that it was made by Kaori Yuki. I'm great fan of her, but once again she repeated the same thing's which I didn't like. It's too short, many things aren't explained, they leave us with too many questions and sometimes the story is so complicated, that it becomes unrealistic. I still love it, but really - if she does something so crazy, she should make it longer.

The only thing I didn't like and it wasn't characteristic for Yuki-sensei, was that hero's sense of scent was praised this much in such a short manga, but it's wasn't really that annoying as I thought it would be.

The art is really nice, but quite typical. There're some nice fragments, but nothing stunning. It's quite appropriate to the story, and that's the biggest plus for this manga.

The rest of it... Oh my.
The first chapter gives good impression. It's serious, it's dramatic and seems to be realistic - that's nice! Besides that, the story touches some really important topic and I thought that maybe finally I found manga which teaches girls that life isn't so nice and sweet. But nope!

I liked the concept, art and the pace of first chapter. However, what came after ... was quite disappointing. There was too much drama for such short story, events were unrealistic and personalities of the characters were just too unclear for me. Main heroine is quite nice girl, but the boys - especially Yuki - oh my, I can't stand them. Both of them act like lunatics, once they are understanding and overprotective, but later they are not so nice. OK, the situation is complicated, but it lacks consequence and reason. Besides that - for such short story, where author put so much action, there are too many unnecessary scenes. And finally, the ending is so much deux ex machina that it's quite awesome. Really, is making well-balanced story really that difficult?

It could be magnificent. It really could. But it's just decent I suppose - maybe good start made my expectations too high? I'm not sure.
