Suzume no Tojimari review
Suzume no tojimari has earned more than $300 million globally, outperforming several other
anime blockbusters. Makoto Shinkai's heavily animated films never fail to match the audience's
expectations. This rich animation is what blinds the viewer and causes them to miss flaws that
may have made the picture much better. This review highlights the problems in Suzume no
Tojimari that the viewer may overlook while completely engrossed in Shinkai san's animation
magic. For viewers who are fresh to the world of anime, witnessing how the narrative of
Suzume and ... Sota unfolds and how fate intertwines them must have overwhelmed and made
them cry with ecstasy. However, those who have seen Shinkai san's past works would notice a
glimmer, if not more, of his earlier work in Suzume. The plot begins with a fortuitous
encounter, which is highly characteristic of Shinkai's approach and can be observed in
practically all of his films, such as Hoshi wa ou kodomo and Tenki no ko. This disinterests
audiences who have seen Shinkai san's earlier works, forcing them to sit for solely the
animation and soundtrack of the film. When compared to the other films, the screenplay is
fairly ordinary, and the prose is pretty plain. There is no real tension buildup at the beginning
of the film, and the purpose of the protagonists has already been established, which settles the
butterflies in the stomach. The story's tempo felt too quick, as though many things were
crammed into a two-hour film. The narratives were very clear, with no starting or final-minute
twists, making the stories relatively simple and action-based. Suzume's past is rehashed several
times, diverting the viewer's attention away from the continuing storyline. Sadaijin's
appearance at the last minute made little to no sense because no adequate introduction or
narrative was prepared for it. The climax was dramatic, but it was too short and reminded me
of Tenki no ko in many ways, especially the concluding sequence.
Shinkai san's films' art and animation have always been the pinacle of the vision. The story
may fall short somewhere, but the animation in the film never does. The film has taken attention
of little things such as raindrops and puddles. Suzume and Sota's close-up fight scenes are
wonderfully animated, however the design pattern of the worm moving up into the sky was a
little weird and looked quite simple. Details like chalk shrieking and close-ups of meal
preparation or close-ups of cigarette ash dropping on the ground comforted the hearts of
viewers in his past works, but none of such sorts of sequences were shown in this film.
Haru yamada, who also worked on kimi no nawa and tenki no ko, was hired as the film's sound
director. Except for the initial chasing sequence between Sota and the Daijin, the sound has
been properly placed in all areas. The background music used in that scene sounded vintage,
giving the scenario a Hollywood movie air. The soundtrack in several areas was fairly similar
to that of other ordinary anime. The opening theme was excellent, however the concluding
song fell a little short. The audience may not want to hear it again in order to become acclimated
to it. The voice actor in this films are newcomers to the anime business. The dialogue delivery
of the characters reveals the inexperience of the voice performers. The absence of senior actors
in films harmed the film by failing to capture the hearts of the audience with their distinct
voices and abilities to transform ordinary lines into lines that are pleasing to hear. Even though
kana hanazawa portrayed the role of Suzume’s mother the scene was to brief to be noted.
To begin with, there aren't many characters in the film because it mostly concentrates around
the major protagonists. However, in Shinkai san's past works, the utilisation of side characters
was done brilliantly, even if it meant killing them. The secondary characters in this film exist
solely to assist our main character in transferring from one location to another and providing
her with accommodation. In his past works, such as Tenki no Ko and 5 Centimetres per Second,
side characters are employed and fit perfectly within the tale. The movie merely mentions
Soutra's family as being closer, despite the fact that he, as the primary character, needs a solid
backstory.
As far as the general audience is concerned, the movie is a sure shot hit, because the animation
is masterfully done and the music is perfect for almost all parts of the movie. Even if nonanime fans were to watch it, they would pretty much love all parts of it, but if one watches the
movie in its entirety, the movie lacks some elements in the writing departments and character
development section and will not evaluate the film through the eyes of the broader public. After
seeing it, I felt it would be tough for this film to exceed Shinkai san's past works, yet Shinkai
san's magic of animation outperformed all of his previous works, capturing the audience's
attention. To close my review, I would want to state that no matter how excellent you are, you
can always improve, which is the fascinating part.

personally this anime was a shocker to me. I thought it would be a good anime since it was on netflix but it turned out to be unexpectedly awesome.
I guess the best anime lidens flims has produced.
the story is very character centered and the main character is written very well although the MC is dependent on side character which makes the story more elaborate. the best part about the MC is its backstory is not yet completely revealed but whatever is revealed is very impactful and EMOTIONAL. basically a 4 years old boy lives in a rented apartment. where are his parents? how is ... he living alone? all are revealed exceptionally along every episode.

the design and art of character and background seem to be vintage and pretty vague. at first i did not understand the why is the character made in such way why are his eyes so weird but while watching it i understood that the design is made in such a vague manner to clearly reflect the emotion of the character. though a bit vague.

the character are also very well written. their past experience somehow relates to the MC which makes the anime more interesting to watch since the MC is also impacting others life as their life is impacting and how they are cooperating with each other. since MC is 4 years old the emotions and honesty of the child is perfectly depicted in the anime and how the life he is living is impacting him and the eothers around him

If i had to rate this anime on just art and sound i would have given it 5 or a 6 but remember Netflix is licensing it. the reason is the story and the script is exceptionally written and perfectly depicted on screen. i watched the whole season in just one night it was so good. I myself am giving this anime a 10 because the story is very good for a slice of life.

the art may and animation may be weird but the anime is definitely worth a watch.
the voice acting is perfect as if you could feel the emotion of the character. you will definitely have a moment in EVERY EPISODE that will make your eyes teary.

even if you dont binge watch it and watch it in breaks then also the story will seem to be interesting and you will not get bored i can say that much.
the story is about a bookworm and and a guy who has fallen for her and coincidentally they live in the same hostel. though a simple theme but very beautifully depicted.
the animation is very beautiful almost like kyoto animation, very light hearted and colorful
appropriate use of humor and dirty jokes is done in the script.

as usual voice acting upto the mark. KANA HANAZAWA giving her best as always and the rest ... of them also doing great.

the OP is sung by fhana and is awesome and the ED is performed by the cast of the anime which is also very good.
character design and development is SUBARASHI, with each character having their own special touch every episode has been made in such a way that every character gets enough screen time

overall the anime is very fun to watch emotional entanglements are shown in a very different way unlike other romance anime. even if you don't binge watch you will surely enjoy it.

this anime is worth your time and worth a watch!!!!!

A TYPICAL ISEKAI

overpowered MC as in all your regular isekai but revived as the player in the game which she played as her created character.
the story is pretty normal, enjoyable and happy going.with good comedy and humour the relationship between characters shown is beautiful and the major thing in this anime is the perception of life .i.e. wether a game or reality life matters. you can differentiate this anime from others such a way that the MC is not trying to make a big army or is not a demon lord (LOL) so for a change in isekai types you can surely try this one. ... the OP and ED are very good especially the ED makes you want to listen again and again. the seiyuu cast is also very great wit ono daisuke and sugita tomokazu joing the main cast so there is no doubt the voice acting will be on next level.

will make you want to say that you want another season but for the time being its only one.

when does this anime becomes a psychological thriller from an horror anime you may not know......tht's the speciality of this anime. too detailed for a 13 episode anime with a great storyline. will keep you hooked up till the end of every episode. finely done art taken care of even the smallest thing in the background, perfectly matching background music to every scene though the OP and ED are not that great, excellent character development with each character getting enough time to show their true NATURE.

OVERALL:
overall the anime is very good and enjoyable with a mild tone and a sensible storylliine . you will NOT regret watching it. the production studio has already announced its second season which gives us a glimpse of its popularity among the anime fan. it is very TYPICAL romantic anime of the new gen with unique characters and artwork. those who really love romance anime need to give it a shot and those who are new and are searching for new romance anime this is the anime you need to start.
INSHORT if you love anime where boy and girl become couple in the ... starting then you have to watch this anime.
It is an anime which completely resonates with its title 'Taishou otome otogibanashi'. taishou meaning the taishou era of japan, otome meaning a maiden and otogibanashi meaning fairy tale.
story:
the story is set in 1920's taishou era of japan and it is a typical love comedy HOUSE DRAMA(in my opinion) with a very dark and comedic 1st episode. the story shows the typical mindset of people living in Taishou era and the story also unravels the life of a maiden GIRL yuzuki tachibana who has not even reached the age of 15 and is living with a BOY tamahiko shima who is yet to hit puberty and is going through emotional troubles (basically living a couples). the anime also resonates about the various problems of the couple in their daily life with a very dramatic and fairy tale as the anime name suggests. the anime has an interestingly mild story which will relax you at the same time engross you with the story.
ART:
the art of the story is finely produced for example the tokyo in the 1920's is perfectly depicted and the clothing and foods and also characters are perfectly designed in consideration with the Taishou era. the animation neither to vintage to look boring nor it is heavily animated as i mentioned earlier it has a very mild tone to it which completely sets with the mindset of a lot of people. we can say that synegySP studio's has taken great care of the artwork.
SOUND:
The OST used in the anime are very vintage which completely goes with the mood of the anime. yasuharu takanashi who has also done the music for anime like naruto shippuden and fairytale has done a excellent job with the finetunning of the background score fitting ach and every scene. Garnidelia performed the opening which is is a mix of today's and vintage music and the ending is performed by sunichi toki.
CHARACTER:
the main highlight of the story are its character. perfectly designed and blended with each other. the MC is not powerful but dependent which gives the characters room to show themselves not only the MC but all the characters are interdependent on each other. tamahiko shima is palyed by yusuke koobayashi also famous for Senku in Dr.stone and subaru in re zero where as yuzuki tachibana is voiced by sya aizawa who has recently stepped into the seiyuu industry.
