Tower of God chronicles the journey and development of Bam and his friends as they climb up the tower in pursuit of their heart's desires. The concept is simple enough, but the complexity of each characters relationship to one another makes it a true work of art. The story builds upon itself and creates a world that is both vast and intriguing. Each challenge they face is not only a challenge of brute force, but rather require strategy and teamwork. Each chapter is well paced leaving you wanting more at the end. The resolve of an arc is both satisfying as well infuriating as it

often creates more questions than it answered.
The art is less then stellar in the beginning (I would give it a 5 for the first season). The character designs seemed clunky and not as flushed out as it could have been. As you enter the second season of the story there is a huge change in art quality. The characters are more defined and the scenery more vibrant. The first season looks like a children's book while the second season's quality is comparable to that of an anime.
In my opinion the characters are what make Tower of God a manhwa worth reading. Each character doesn't act in order to progress the story, but rather the story is used to progress the characters. Bam is your stereotypical hero with nakama power and hidden talents. Rak is the comedic support with a hunger for a challenge. Koon is searching for redemption and power from the tower. None of them are perfect but they play off each others strengths and weaknesses to make a strong team. As they climb the tower more and more support characters are introduced who you fall in love with as well.
The story is riveting; each chapters leaves you wanting to know more without having absurd arc lengths (looking at you Naruto/Bleach). The fight sequences are more than just here's a bad guy go beat him up. Most of all it's memorable. Each week it's not Bleach, Naruto, or One Piece that gets me to check manga sites for updates, but rather Tower of God. Even though it has a 3 month break at the end of each season, I always remember to read it when it starts back up.
