*Review contains mild spoilers*
Trigger Warnings for this show:
Rape, child kidnapping, forced prostitution of minors | death, incest, and gore
First set all takes place in episode 5 (I elaborate further later)
From the author of redo of healer comes Assassin Isekai. While I can say its definitely an improvement in his writing, but he still trips over himself several times. Other reviews have this show near 8 or near 2, but both are not telling of this anime. It has elements of anime you would give an 8 and elements of anime you would give a 2.
It is an isekai, with an overpowered edgy MC.
...
This show will have 1 good idea that makes you invested than 2 bad ideas. It falls into tropes and clichés more often than the times it subverts them or has an original idea.
Story: 7
The story of the isekai mc being summoned to kill the hero is a very simple, but engaging story. Watching the MC grow in this world is the main draw and it delivers. Its nothing ground breaking and it never gets into a next gear but its good.
Art: 6
The character design is good for an isekai like this. It doesn'exceed in anything visually, but it looks good throughout the whole runtime. The color palette is very dull, but the variety of areas helps this.
Sound: 8
The VA work for the Japanese cast is very good. The sound effects are very good and probably the best thing about the sound design. The op and ed are good, but it will depend on your taste. The OST is hit or miss, but mostly just there.
Character: 3
This is the weakest category for this anime. The MC isn't basic, but he isn't well written either. You understand his thinking most of the time and his actions line up with this. But in the end, you will find no difference between him and any other edgy MC in any other dark isekai.
The girls are all cute and do have more than just one character trait so it has that over most isekai. However, these girls usually lose a lot of their personality after falling for the MC. They very much become basic harem girls which was disappointing to watch.
The side cast is fine, but there isn't many of them and the few that are there are just passable at best.
Enjoyment: 5
The most important category imo is enjoyment. Writing can be bad, animation can be bad but if the show is fun to watch that's the main point. My initial points reflect this score. The show does a decent amount of things right and I was genuinely interested at some point, but the show would always manage to pull me out. Episode 5 is a perfect example.
| Spoilers up to episode 5 |
1/3rd through the show and the plot is starting to really move. The MC is making his first big steps into this new world and then episode 5 starts. One of the most unnecessary episodes in anime history. The episode painfully and slowly goes into massive detail of the kidnapping, abuse, rape, and forced prostitutions of a group of girls. This is the entire episode. Nothing is explicitly shown. A plot point like this in a dark fantasy isn't out of place, but the level of detail and time that was given to this episode leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
Its cheap and lazy writing. Forced rape scenes are the biggest sign of a bad story with bad writing, Its a very lazy way to gain artificial sympathy for a character and a lazy way to add fake stakes to the story. Especially if these events have little impact on the wider story. This event is never brought up again, it has no impact to any of the characters after it, and the only thing that came from it is another girl to like the MC.
I personally recommend everyone who watches to skip episode 5. Similar to how everyone said skip episode 1 of Goblin Slayer. Its just for shock and provides no value.
Overall: 5
The show isn't horrendous, but I would not call it a good anime. Every positive is cancelled out by 1 or 2 negatives and it leaves the show feeling mediocre to me. There are some watchers who are desensitized and just enjoy the MC looking cool and being an assassin. If that is you, watch this show. But for the majority of other people who wouldn't be able to sit through episode 5 or don't like generic isekais, avoid this show. It is not worth your time.

A very interesting premise and really good execution. A very easy manga to read in one or two sittings. Unfortunately that's this manga's biggest weakness. To avoid spoilers, i'm gonna be vague, but the story sets up the conclusion well, but seems to rush towards it. Very rarely do I fault manga for being short. I love manga that get to the point and I think manga that end at the right time are better for it. This manga suffers from the opposite of that. It often skips ahead in chunks and although it never takes away from the overall story, it does make the
...
story lack something. Although the characters are great and a lot of fun, we spend very little time with all of them. As i'll talk about later, these are deep and well written characters, because of the lack of chapters there just isn't enough to make a real connection with them. Another 10-20 chapters of the characters just being themselves and doing more mundane things could've served the story very well and made the ending hit much harder.
Story - 7
The story is fun and has a really cool premise. Exploring the characters and watching their dynamics change and develop is very nice. Not a ton happens, but for stories like this, that works
Art - 9
It is a gorgeous manga. It is very well drawn and is good for your eyes. The characters are really cute and the clothes look stunning.
Character - 9
The cast of characters is very good. Its a pretty small cast, but each one feels deep and flushed out. All of the main cast go through some sort of arc and watching them struggle with relatable things like self confidence is very engaging. I wish we could've spent more time with each of the characters, too often it felt like characters would only show up to progress something. While that can work for longer series, it ends up hurting this one. Its not wasted potential, but not being able to see the characters be friends does leave a sense of yearning.
Enjoyment - 9 Overall - 8
I highly recommend this manga, its a great read and its even better for anyone who has ever been into or interested in crossdressing. I believe enjoyment is the most important score so take that for what it is.
Final Thoughts: The lack of content takes an easy 9 manga down to an 8. I think enjoyment will vary depending on interest in the topics. Give it a shot.

With almost no real story and no real stakes this show just isn't that good. The animation is stellar with an all time great op and a cool art style and aesthetic, but it can't save the show. The show tries to go for all style no substance and it worked, but idk if it worked in the way the had hoped. The end of episode one and the other clips similar to that in the show will be addressed at the end.
Story - 3
The weakest aspect of the show is the story, while the premise sounds amazing it fails to deliver. I found myself
...
struggling to find a reason to keep watching other than to finish what I started. Stuff does happen and there is something happening, but when watching the show, it never feels like it matters.
Art - 10
From the worst part to the best part. This show was Mappa showing off what they could do. A glorified demo reel at some points, the show looks incredible. The op as mentioned before is outstanding and all the fights are super well done. The use of colors is also really impressive.
Sound - 7
Good VA work all around, zero complaints about the ost or sound effects. They cary from meh to good. Overall the show is enjoyable to listen to.
Character - 6
In terms of design, the show nails it. Every character has a great silhouette and a unique look. In terms of character writing, its passable. A lot of generic character types and very few if any deep characters. Every character is very surface level. There are a lot of fun and interesting characters but very few get enough screen time and even less get any sort of depth.
Enjoyment - 5
Medicore, average, you can watch it and some will enjoy it. This is probably the most important category in any review. Technical stuff and critiques can only explain so much and at the end of consuming something its about enjoyment. People can enjoy this show, its not a great "turn off your brain and watch a fight" show, but its close. One scene at the end of episode one that will turn a lot of people away from the show. I will address it at the end.
Overall - 6
While its medicore, the art and animation carry it to an above average overall product. Don't watch this show with friends.
Spoilers |episode 1 and minor events in later episodes |
There is a rape scene at the end of episode one. Its the single most unnecessary rape scenes in anime history. Its also framed and animated in a way that's very distasteful and leaves a bad taste in your mouth. It adds nothing to the show and this theme of downplaying and even glorifying sexual assault continues throughout the show. It reeks of trying to force in tension and stakes. Its a pretty bullshit way to force out sympathy from the audience. The fact they then go on to try to insinuate that the girl somehow enjoyed it is also fucking gross. These types of scenes in anime/manga/etc can be done well and used with purpose. This is an example of the opposite, the worst possible way to use it. The show drops in quality instantly when this scene happens and never gets anywhere near you'd think the premise would be. Its not even the type of scene you can skip over like in goblin slayer, because they bring it up constantly. It was a poor and lazy way to show what they wanted and unfortunately this type of lazy writing and narrative shortcuts persist throughout the whole show.

This isn't your normal isekai, it isn't even similar to other isekai where the whole class gets isekai'd. It flips the traditional fantasy narrative on its head and messes with the isekai formula. This is the perfect show for anyone tired of generic isekais and generic fantasy anime.
Do you enjoy weird story structure that unravels as you figure it out, feeding you info to solve some questions, but raise others? Do you enjoy watching a likeable MC struggle and slowly become stronger? Then watch this show.
Story - 9
While not the craziest or most original stories, this show does enough different to keep your attention
...
all the way through. The show has 2 separate narratives and figuring out the connections and putting all the pieces together is really fun.
Art - 4
By far the weakest aspect of the show is its animation and art style. While the style is fine and how it looks is subjective, the animation will be the biggest reason people would drop this show or avoid it. It uses heavy amounts of CG, and while it does work sometimes, more often than not it looks meh or bad. Its not so terrible it would take you out of the experience however. You will get used to it.
Sound - 7
A very good voice cast really makes up for the lackluster sound design. The soundtrack is fine, but forgettable. The sound effects are passable but it doesn't add to anything.
Character - 8
Characters are the shows best attribute. The MC is very likeable and the supporting cast is also very solid. It uses the isekai plot to really do something with every character.
Enjoyment - 10
This show is a blast to watch and a joy to get through. Its very bingeable. I watched it weekly as it came out and just finished rewatching it in 3 sittings. This show as a whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Any aspect of the show that is lacking gets carried by just how easy it is to watch. The show has very good pacing and knows when to move on and when to stay in an area, it never drags.
Overall - 8
Conclusion:
A very good anime and a great isekai. Without a second season its hard to put it up there with re:zero or tensura, but its on par with shows like Shield Hero. This is the type of show almost anyone can turn on and enjoy. If the CG is scaring you away, just know the narrative and characters will make watching very much worth it.

Its a lot of rape. (Review has no kink shame)
- TWs: Rape, violence towards women, loli, monster, and general violence -
The story is fine, and in comparison to most other anime in similar genres and settings its pretty good. the focus is on the sex scenes so don't expect some world class writing, but the overarching story is satisfying to see play out.
Episode 4 sorta makes watching worth it, as it is probably the best animated and has the best scenes imo. However the first 3 episodes are rape, monster rape, etc. Its not a fun watch if you're not into rape. Episode 4 has
...
a lot of futanari (futa on girl and futa on futa) which is the only parts of the watch I enjoyed.
If you are into watching women be raped, humiliated, hurt, etc then this is a very good hentai for you. And for any futa lovers, the last 2 episodes are for you. This show is for degenerates tbh

Story: 8
Its a rom com type story. If you've seen a couple you understand the gist. The MC, the main love interest do their routine. With side characters spicing up some interactions and plots points. However, the dynamics in the relationship are drastically different than your average rom com. Senpai's (MC) relationship with Nagatoro (Main Girl) makes for an entirely different experience. The dynamics of Senpai's interactions with Nagatoro and her friend group are the reason to watch.
Art: 8
While not as vivid or full of personality
...
compared to the manga, the show captures Nagatoro's famous expressions really well. That character designs are all spot on and the animation is very clean throughout the entire run time. Nagatoro is the main selling point, visuals wise, and they really nailed it.
Sound: 10
The VA work is perfect. Nagatoro's VA absolutely killed it. One of those anime VA jobs that just sticks. All the other VA work was also very good. This on top of a decent OST, some fun sound effects and banger OP.
Character: 8
As mentioned in the story section, everything revolves around the main cast of characters. Nagatoro is great and her subtle developments throughout the season make her nothing but a joy to watch. Senpai isn't spectacular, but he is done well. The biggest part of his character is watching him slowly gain more and more confidence. The core group of side characters are all really fun and distinct. They show flashed of depth however and are almost always a positive when they show up.
Enjoyment: 8
Nagatoro, is not an anime for everyone. Point blank. Some people will really enjoy the humor, the teasing, and the dynamics. While others will not. I enjoyed the show, the mc reminded me a lot of myself in high school and the jokes landed for me.
Overall: 8
While the show did a ton of stuff really well, the plot suffered from what almost every rom com suffers from. A very slow pace. The status quo of the dynamics are stretched out for as much content as possible. The subtle character developments and changes to the relationships don't change that. Its a very enjoyable and very easy watch for those can enjoy the premise.

This is the most average Moe-Blob show I have watched and that is totally fine. It is cute girls doing cute things to the max. Of course it doesn't have the substance that all time greats like K-on does, but with 3 minute episodes it doesn't really matter. Moe-Blob anime are very much a guilty pleasure for me, seeing cute anime girls do cute things will always brighten my mood and entertain me.
I can easily see someone watching this with no context or a newer fan finding it and thinking its a 2/10 throwaway anime. Slice of Life isn't for everyone and this isn't the
...
show that will get people into it; however, it is the exact type of show long time anime fans, especially those that enjoy simple slice of life anime will love. You don't need to be a fan of Moe-Blob like me, but you do need some knowledge of the genre.
On a technical level, nothing stands out, the characters are all cute and likeable, the music is good enough to not take away from the show, and the animation is good enough to not distract. This is all a show like this needs. I wouldn't call this show mediocre tho. The food always looks great and its a great show to watch when eating which is more than I can say for some other shows like this.
Final Thoughts:
Pan de Peace is your run of the mill "trash" Moe-blob show. It does nothing outstanding or unique. Despite this, each episode is short and sweet with no wasted time, it knows exactly what it is and does that well. I give shows like this a 5. It did nothing wrong and delivered exactly what I thought it was going to. Its not a show I would tell everyone to watch, but a show I would recommend to the right person.

An amazing art style and some stunning visuals can't save this movie. A very meh and boring story, with shallow characters, and a lack of substance. A lot of gore just to shock, that adds almost nothing. Its like if the Eclipse from Berserk or the torture scenes from Tokyo Ghoul were taken out of context and viewed on their own. It seems to be inspired by the underrated classic Freaks from 1932. While Freaks had a charm that made the disturbing scenes more impactful, this movie just doesn't have that. It feels incomplete, with a gross romance that has aged very poorly. A lot
...
of the nuance that I wanted to be there just isn't. I love a good over-the-top gorefest or a truly disturbing movie that really makes me think and squirm, but it felt hollow in this movie. The moments were gross and disturbing, but it didn't make me feel anything. I couldn't sympathize with the MC, cause she had no character, no real traits, no personality, just a vessel for abuse and torment. That really drags the movie down. Its hard to know what the creator really wanted this movie to be, a twisted horror, a psychological horror, or just torture porn. It really feels like he wanted to put all of the crazy fucked up shit he had in his head into a movie. Like if he wrote down 50 ideas and then made a movie trying to incorporate all those things. I wish this movie was either more fun or had some sort of deeper meaning. It very much lacks a true identity and never establishes what it really wants to be. I would recommend for people to watch the mentioned Freaks and Tokyo Gore Police instead of this. All that being said, it is a watchable movie for being who can stomach gore or people who have seen enough of it, again the visuals are great.

A very fun gender bending rom com. While some of the characters aren't the greatest, seeing these group of characters go through this is quite enjoyable. Yes, this manga is ecchi and it is one that changes its character's sexes. There is a whole separate conversation about LGBTQ and how it is sorta fetishized here, and in Japanese media in general that can be had. But ignoring that watching the characters come to terms and discover things about themselves is fun. This is very much a turn off your brain and enjoy type of story, all the characters look nice and although the fanservice is
...
very boob heavy. I haven't read the final volume, due to not being able to find a English translation of it (Physical or Scanned), but I have read and watched enough similar shows to know the ending won't sway my overall opinion to much. All in all, the premise and twists make this more worth a read than an average rom com, but it doesn't stray to far, story structure wise, from other HS rom coms. It is very much worth a read, its keeps your attention well and the constant switch ups of the relationship dynamics keep things interesting.

It is THE trap manga and a rom com manga I would recommend to anyone into these types of stories. When the trap becomes the main love interest in a setting like this, it just works so well. Its perfectly paced and stays high energy and doesn't drag like some rom com manga. The relationships are great and the manga ends perfectly. A very fun read all the way through. The jokes can get tired, but they stay fresh, but for some they won't land. There are a lot of stunning panels and very heartwarming moments. Its great for anyone who reads or watches too
...
many HS rom coms and need one that has a fun twist and a loveable cast
