Godzilla has had it rough since his reawakening. With the boringly slow pace of the Legendary Godzilla, to the blazing fast pace with no real motivation that was Shin Godzilla, none of the recent Godzilla movies have really been all that good lately.
Will this Movie make the difference and usher in a new age of excitement and kaiju goodness for Godzilla and all his fans?
No… no it won’t.
To be honest… the trailer was enough to make me want to avoid this movie. The CG looked god awful, and I wasn’t entirely impressed with the premise… I don’t even really understand what motivated me to
...
watch it. I should have skipped it as I had originally planned
The movie was poor on all accounts, but the thing I want to complain the most about is the visuals… they are awful. Nothing looks good. Everyone looks like videogame characters from ten years ago, and the G-man himself looks like a giant lump of bashed metal. No details to pick out at all. His overall design seemed to me to emulate the Legendary (thicker) design, and as I wasn’t a fan of that design to begin with, rubbing all the detail out and making it look metallic didn’t help.
It wasn’t all bad though… there was this moment when, not one, but TWO alien races came to the planet to kill Godzilla and failed spectacularly… the ridiculousness of it did make me laugh… it was the only laugh though.
Speaking of these aliens though… why didn’t either of them mention to the humans that “Look, we’ve been refugees ourselves for like… ever? There are no planets out there, fight for this one” at the beginning? And what happened to their “fleet” of ships. Did they just drop some of their kind off and leave?” Why didn’t humans evacuate on those ships since all of these aliens just seem to be so “we’re in this together”?
There was also a off hand remark about how one of these aliens has seen the fall of civilizations all over the galaxy, and MOST of them fall to creatures like Godzilla.
That last one took me out of the experience more so than ANYthing else in this God(zilla) forsaken movie. What are the Kaiju then? Are they actual tools of destruction? Tools for whom?
All in all, the movie was terrible.

Things you should know about this series:
a) The side antics and filler episodes, while humorous to a degree, feel exactly like what they are, side antics and filler. The story as a whole doesn’t suffer because of them, but you suffer through them mostly to get the tid bits of character progress they hide within them.
b) The core story should be strong enough to keep you interested, but where I feel this series kicks it up a notch is within the last two to four episodes. The drama starts to build up, and the ending is refreshing in the way it breaks from the cliché
...
way slice of life harems usually end.
There are little things here and there that make you wonder, and some of those questions never get fully answered, but even with what you end up with, it’s satisfying.
Ultimately, I really liked this series. Right after I post this, I’m going to go see if there is a manga associated with it in an attempt to get maximum story exposure.
I recommend it, even if the overall score is low… but ultimately… who am I, but some guy on the internet. Those are my two cents, take them or leave them, but don’t give them back to me… I don’t like pennies.

You know... I wouldn't exactly say that it's the sweetest romance in the world (though it certainly tries to claim that title at times,) but it certainly is very interesting.
When I started it, there were only 3 chapters, and I was hooked enough to want to know more. I found out they weren't going to translate it anymore, and I refused to accept that. NtK has a special place in my heart because I was the one that pushed it out there to be picked back up again. I really do love this series. Each chapter keeps me wanting more. The only thing I
...
really hate about this series is... I have to wait for new releases. And wait I do... this is not one of those that I add to "Watch list, read it as it comes up." I frequent the translator's site just hoping to read more. I don't often give 10s... but NtK is worth 10's across the board.
The characters are more real world than in other romances I've read. You have two kids that have been friends, but nothing more. They suffer too great a difference in looks and ability. Regardless of that, each of their seasons chips a little more of that wall away, and even gives the normally lazy Kaoru some motivation to self improve.
Ok... maybe it's not THAT realistic... but that's because most of us are lazy.
Pft... self improvement... that stuff is for losers.

What... the fuck?
That's all I could think as the story progressed. There was an event that got it started, and then as it closed... Let's just put it this way...
This OVA contains elements never present before in this series, and it strays from the idea of the series horribly.
As many have stated before, the art was very nice, though sometimes the character's looks kind of weird. Iori in particular.
On a side note, I almost felt like this was some sort of cross over. The supporting characters that were not apart of the main cast had this "I feel like I should know who these
...
people are, like they are from another series" feel to them.
My last complaint, was that the big bad "coincidence" monster reared it's ugly head a surprising amount of times in a single, two episode story. Coincidences within coincidences... it was an enigma of coincidence monsters... Maybe the monster was pregnant.
