This series has a very orignal and interesting premise. The concept of rapid technological and societal advancement is always intriguing and the show manages to keep your utmost attention for the first 8 episodes. It introduces certain philosophical concepts and paradoxes that make you deeply contemplate about them and consider your stance.

However, from episode 9 and onwards, it feels as if the writer and director got a reality check that there are not many episodes left, and the show degraded to a moronic battle shounen showdown (Kirito style) that completely renders everything before that point null and pointless. It is an extremely infuriating show ... in the sense that it has such an interesting premise that builds so much anticipation and then it goes flat so rapidly and suddenly towards the end that you cannot but vigorously hate it as everything goes to waste.

A decent school romance series revolving around the daily lives of a group of high-schoolers and their struggles. The premise is not something new but the series manages to maintain your anticipation for what is going to happen next.

In the beginning there were some profound moments that gave an initial impression that the show has potential to turn out as something great. However, after a while the drama started becoming extremely repeatitive and forced. The main character has quite a lot of spastic moments, and he quickly becomes one of the most irritating main characters ever. Moreover, his unrealistic inability to get simple hints when ... it comes to romance is over the top and drags the show unnecessarily for so many episodes.

The comedy and slice-of-life moments are decent and quite enjoyable. However, the meagre character growth combined with a weak ending for a 24-episode long series render the show indifferent. It is a significantly degraded version of Hachimitsu to Clover.

This is one of the greatest romantic stories of all time, with overflowing emotions, great and relatable characters and outstanding realism in its drama. The story is realistic and relatable. You will easily connect with the characters and, from the very beginning, you'll go on an emotional roller-coaster ride with plenty heart wrenching moments.

Some people will feel that there are plenty of moments that the story becomes extremely realistic in its portrayal of young teens' love and life's circumstances, that at times you will end up despising that realism but absolutely understand it.
It will be reminiscent of these awkawrd years in the young ... stages of our lives, when we acted immaturely and selfishly, moments of indecisiveness, moments when we should have let something go and we didn't, moments of regret.

Bokura ga Ita is as realistic as it can get in all the matters of the heart. For those who have yet to experience true romantic love, it is going to be a great lesson on what you have missed, both the merry and sad aspects. For those who have had the pleasure to experience love before, it is going to be a reflection and reminder of all these memories you have locked in a corner of your heart, both the dear and traumatic ones.

Overall, the story will be appreciated more by mature audience. And if you think you have hit rock bottom after finishing the series, you should go read the manga, there you will reach a whole new level of poignancy. The series covers the first 8 volumes out of a total of 16 volumes. If anything, it is compulsory to read the manga afterwards until you reach the conlcusion of the story.

This is a typical romance show about "childhood romance getting a second shot after years of separation". As it is to be expected, it has the typical drama you would expect from that premise, some comedy here and there and a high degree of focus on friendship.

The main issue with this show is that the characters are too plain and rapidly change in character and behaviour simply after hearing a few sensible words from their peers. There is nothing original, neither in the drama, nor the romance. While there are moments during the show when you start feeling that something is building up and it ... is going somewhere, the closure is quite weak, non-definite and generic. Overall, it can keep your attention for 12 episodes, but in the end it doesn't add much value on the table to its respective genres.

Overall, it was a decent romance series that had corny and over-the-top drama. While the main female heroine had some character and spine at the beginning, the series regressed to a typical pattern where shy and unsecure girl is in love and gets together with the hottest boy in school and other hot boys and girls are thrown into their way as obstacles to their relationship.

It has its sweet moments, however, the teenage melodrama gets a bit irritating at times, which in turn makes it quite unattractive to mature audience. The main heroine is quite cute, but the secondary characters introduced in the story tend ... to be either blunt or annoying with more screentime than they actually deserve. All in all, this series suffers mostly from overused cliches and formulistic moments, as well as weak and irritating secondary characters. Romance fans won't miss anything of value if they skip that series.

This is a very good and well executed old-school anime about high-school delinquent gangs and all the cliches in terms of portrayal you would expect from that sort of premise and age of animation.

Unlike other delinquent anime, this one focuses more on conflicts and fighting, yet there are still elements of comedy and goofiness, which lighten the mood. But do not expect Cromartie High School tier of comedy. It is episodic, which means that each 1-hour episode is a self-contained story, however, it's chronological so the outcomes of one episode carry to the next.

Episode 5 is probably the funniest one. Overall, a very good ... delinquent series recommended to all fans of the delinquent genre.

This is perhaps one of the darkest and most disturbing anime out there that will certainly leave you with a bitter taste at the end due to its theme. A tragic story about hopelessness, cruelty, pain, bullying, stigma and wasted youth. What it means to be a pig (in other words, the lower classification in the hierarchy of society and school) and what happens when the king of pigs emerges. This movie will leave a very strong impression to you and very possibly it will haunt your thoughts for a few days. Strictly recommended only to mature audience with a strong stomach!

Space Brothers is one of the greatest slice-of-life anime of all time and certainly one the most mature animated series that exist out there. A compelling story about two brothers and their promise to become astronauts one day, their struggles in lifes while pursuing their dream and a life lesson on what it means to honouring one's promises.

This series is an endless source of inspiration, full of life lessons, profound teachings, presented in a genuine manner with the right amount of drama and comedy. This is a story for adults who have not forgotten to keep alive their own inner child through the course ... of time and for children with big, untamed and daring dreams!

The 2nd season of Kaiji is not as impressive as the first season. It still has some of the same elements that made the first season so successful and so addicting, yet it falls short in other areas. The story continues from the events that took place at the end of season 1. The first arc is decent. The second and final arc is sluggish and it becomes apparent that it is forcefully dragged out to fill 26 episodes. The lack of strong antagonists in this second season as well as the lack of philosophical elements by "villains" to question hero's actions are some of ... the key issues.

Overall, it is an enjoyable sequel and an interesting watch, but do not expect the awesomeness of the first season.

The French philosopher, Pascal, once referred to human beings as "the glory and the scum of the universe". Humans have the ability to make a leap of faith to achieve greatness and experience the grandeur of glory. But if you stumble during that leap of faith, you end up falling in the depths of the bog that is the human mind and becoming the scum. Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor portrays exactly that idea: What it means to be the scum of the universe that still dreams of glory.

The story is very addictive and realistic. Despite the gambling games being simple enough, the stakes and intensity are ... extremely high because the characters are gambling with their lives on the line for a slim chance at winning money. And naturally, all the extreme emotions are flowing through the characters during these moments.

The protagonist is a gambling addict with a sharp mind and strong perseverance but very emotional and easily agitated at the same time. Most of the times he ends up suffering due to his own folly and sense of justice. The antagonists are also very well thought characters. Despite looking like the biggest human scums that make others suffer, their reasoning is well-presented and their remarks hit right in the spot. They are not the ignorant fools that are just present to make things happen, but they are actually very well crafted personalities that play a vital role in the story.

Overall, a great anime that you should watch even if gambling is not your cup of tea. Give it at least 3-4 episodes and I can assure you that you will get addicted to the series. A definite must watch!
