Second Stage:
This show is just a perfect continuation of the first season, if you liked season 1 you will love season 2. Some may disagree, but i think they are few and far between.
Love interest play out, foes come to light, and old friends reappear in this perfect continuation.
Finality is the word for this season, and although everything gets pretty much wrapped up, i felt like i wanted so much more at the end.

Vandread:
At first glance this seems like a classic sci-fi mecha, then it looks like a baffonish comedy, and finally like an epic romance anime. Now let me say i am no fan to any of the 3 genre's i just listed.I am also not a fan of ecchi or the classic 15 year old boy becomes all powerful scenario.
What this title does perfectly is bind some of the best things of all those genre's together.
It makes you feel for most of it's characters in a way that i couldn't understand. it seems like they are all shallow or repetitive at times but you can't
...
help caring when one falls from grace or get's their heart smashed. even if you don't like comedy in your anime you will chuckle occasionally at the great male vs female jokes. the cliche let's work together and believe in yourself stuff gets alittle old but its important to the show's message.
If you are looking for deep fight scenes and intricate mecha homage, look elsewhere, because the fight scenes cool as they were, are really just a way to progress the growth of the characters and the overall story arch.
Story: the overall story arch is impressive, not really deep and twisting, but what you would expect right when you should get what you need. the characters are so lovable and by the end i felt a kinship with all of them even the ones i hated to begin with.
Animation: this anime wasn't really ultra new, but for when it was made it looked and still looks fantastic. This anime was made when sci fi series were still debating on hand drawn and artsy vs computer animation. this one went with computer and it was the right choice for the show.
Sound: alot of care went into the quality sound production for this show, especially for the english dubs, however the voice actors were the usual crew we see everywhere.
Overall:this show is like a friend that hugs you when your down, it's heart warming and interesting. You find yourself falling for it's flaws and its triumphs, and hanging on to every little interaction between it's characters.
that being said if your a cynical bastard or a fan of one of the mecha genre in particular skip this show, its more for people who like to feel things, and love people shows.

Monster
This show is nothing short of a masterpiece.
Monster is a gripping psychological thriller that takes a cold hard look at humanity, and the underlying demons that all of us potentially have. this show makes me think: what if stephen king, the writers from deathnote, and hitler all got together and said "lets show people why they need fear only themselves." that is exactly what this show represents, it attempts to show us that demons and monsters aren't scary, even the murderers and rapist aren't scary, but what is truly terrifying is what any person might be persuaded or pushed to given the right circumstances.
Story: the
...
story was very deep, and had all the twist and turns any fan of the genre could handle. the pacing was off at times and i found myself watching 10 episodes back to back at times, and other times struggling to watch more than one. it was all worth it in the end, and im not affaid to admit it had me tearing up, as well as gripping my seat, at times.
Animation: muted colors and dulled edges, make this macabre tale all the more haunting.
the animation frame-rate is flowing and faces are quite expressive.
Voices: voice acting top notch, very expressive and appropriate and i didn't really recognize the main cast from other anime's.
Music: haunting piano nocturnes, as well as fast paced chase music are the staples. although the sound of nature or the ambiance from city streets also contribute greatly.
Characters: There is alot of death in this show so don't get attached to anybody in particular, but the characters even the short lived ones are so deep and beleivable that you feel for them and fear for them every step of the way.
Overall: This show is very much on the intellectual side and virtually void of any humor. so if you like comic relief look elsewhere. It was also a tad slow at times, and the plot will leave you dizzy trying to keep up, but most of all this is a masterpiece of human observation and a hauntingly beautiful tale of tragedy and deception.

Highschool of the dead -
First off let me just say that the sweetest things are always the most short lived.
Highschool of the dead is just that it's epic, and fantastic but just to short.
Synopsis: a group of high school students and their school nurse escape from their school in the midst of a zombie apocalypse, they make the long journey through the hellish streets of the city on the way to safety and their loved ones.
Story: the story was very engrossing, and realistic, full of minor plot twist and at times gut wrenching fear, or romantic tension. It did all of
...
this so well for the 12 short episodes they had to work with. the logic they implore is top notch and could have come straight out of the zombie survival guide. pop culture references from America are abundant almost as if it was written for a u.s. viewer. Despite the gory and horrific atmosphere there is always a chuckle to be had although the real fun doesn't start until halfway through. It is also filled with nudity and not soft nudity i mean nipples and bare butts flying everywhere, if ecchi or raunchy is not for you avoid this show at all cost, it really grew on me however. the romance took a sideline but was not what i was expecting, and through me off.
some of the only things i found wrong with the story was unrealistic fighting, and scenes where physics just don't seem to apply, but hey its an anime right?
Animation: this is a newer anime and it shows. Beautiful characters and backdrops, although a bit over the top on the detailed panty shots and huge bouncing breast.
Voice acting: pretty good English dubbing with a great cast of voice actors many of which havent been scene in every anime under the sun.
Music: this show covers all the bases, heavy metal, german techno, soft piano, and of course a fantastic intro covered by Japanese punk/pop
characters: the characters seem shallow at first but even in this limited time frame all seem to grow and develop by the end of the show.
The Point: survive the zombie apocalypse... that about covers it and they did cover everything that entails, from the darker side of humanity to triumph over all and everything in-between. It was a wild ride that had me watching every episode back to back until it was over, and i WANT A SECOND SEASON. :)
oh and don't watch the OVA it was nothing like the show(more like an echhi pokemon episode) and it was just unwatchable.
