Was it all just a dream? Or maybe a vision? No, it was real...
Hello,
I got into anime when it started blowing up in the west in the late 90's/early 2000's, early Toonami years. Dropping off around the time Yu-Gi-Oh and Naruto were coming out. I have a soft spot for the older stuff from that time. In the past few years I've got back into it and am trying to watch some of the stuff I missed from that time and also some newer notable things.
If it looks like we have some similar interests, feel free to send me a friend request.

Oh that's good to know!!!
I read that manga many years ago when I became a new anime/manga fan, I gave that one an 8 on my score. So yeah I would go with that direction first, then try again re-watching the anime, maybe it'll grow on you.
Even before her I was still watching the odd anime here or reading a manga. And no I have not yet watched Death Note, as mentioned, I was aware of wildly popular anime that were going on, I just never made it a priority to seek them out to watch.
I see, that explains it.
Thank you for the clarification.
OK, so suggesting Gundam SEED was not a good idea, my apologies.
But thank you for replying back to me, appreciate it.
Also Zeta Gundam is on Youtube, you need to turn on CC to have the English subtitle to show up, I'll embed 2 episodes below for you:
I'm not sure if you may like this, this is an anime from 1988, you can watch it with fansub on Youtube, it's called Sonic Soldier Borgman:
Again, turn on CC for English subtitles. But I must give you a warning, out of 35 episodes, only 23 episodes are subtitled excellently and free of any flaws. But episode 24-35, the subtitle done by another fansub is inferior and there are bunch of name changes in the subtitles. So just watch the 1st 23 episodes, I don't know where to find the better subtitle for 24-35.
I hope these help!!!
I dropped out from anime around 2004, as noted in my bio, around the time Yu-gi-oh and Naruto were taking off in the west. I kind of just didn't get into the next wave of shows as my interests changed.
Ah I see. I did get chance to re-read your bio and I missed that part. It's was a shame too because there were anime that weren't shown on Cartoon Network's Toonami and Adult Swim that wasn't broadcasted.
You can have multiple interests, and still watch anime and read manga. I became a K-pop fan in 2013 (as my profile have shown).
Well, I'm glad your girlfriend got you back into anime. But as I said, you had a lot of missed opportunity in late 2000's to watch some well-known anime like Love Hina, Please Teacher!, Please Twins!, Negima!. All of these anime I listed are the one that got me deep in the fandom. Don't tell me you didn't watched Death Note or Cowboy Bebop when it was on Adult Swim. I mean how on earth did you missed all of that? Didn't nobody ever told you about anime that is not shown on Adult Swim when you left anime in 2004?
Uh, did nobody ever introduced you to Crunchyroll (pre-Sony acquisition era) back in late 2000's? Did you not know about Gundam 00 was shown on Sci-Fi Channel (now SyFy) in 2008?
I mean what happened, did nobody told you about anime gaining big ground in the US in late 2000's with these titles I just mentioned above?
