A review in one sentence; "An inexplicable love for 'Shu-cream' is not a substitute for a character or character motivation".

hopefully it improves, but I wont be around to witness it.

packed full of predictable and tired character tropes, comedy that largely does not land and with mediocre animation quality. Nothing stands out positively (apart from perhaps the OP) many things leave a bad taste in my mouth. I honestly struggled not to rage quit half way through episode 5.

the story is not unique, in fact it is so predictable that ... i could write it in a drunken stupor

If you enjoy this amine...well good luck to you. there's an anime for us all, isn't there.

It is truly worth enduring every bit of the 80's fashion and the early 90's animation quality (if you can even get a copy) for some the glorious highs this anime has to offer.

The story is as complex as it needs to be; wacky college drop-out, with some strange bathroom kinks, tours the Japanese countryside on his trusty bike looking to "study" life...which amounts to encountering hot women at every turn and getting into all manner or crazy scenarios.

The art is "Of its time", if you cant get over that then its your loss I'm afraid.

Its quality is its set-up and delivery in each ... episode. it's filled with all the best crazy antics and comedy only anime can provide...as will as some pretty heartwarming behaviour from a character that might otherwise just have been a random pervert on a bike.

If you do nothing else, check out episode 5....it breathtakingly bananas.

Summary: as perfect in execution as the previous season, 3-Gatsu no Lion is a wonder of the modern slice-of-life anime. A true tour de force.

I am shocked that, despite 44 episodes under its belt, 3-Gatsu no Lion continues to deliver an anime on a different level to the overwhelming majority of shows that have aired in the past few years. There is so much to praise that it's hard to even know where to begin...so I'll go with the tried and tested method.

Story: The source material (I am anime only) must be 100% pure gold to managed to deliver the quality that is this anime. ... Rei's story, as he comes to terms with his new status within the shogi sphere, as well as his ever increasing involvement with Kawamoto family, is delivered with such finesse and depth of emotion that it sometimes overwhelming.The story winds successfully through several majority story Arcs with themes as diverse as aging, the burden of responsibility and expectations, sickness, bullying, fallen idols. love etc, yet each is handled with such skill that they are all interwoven and highly impactful.

Characters: The usual cast returns (with very few minor additions) so if you appreciated what you saw in the first season you will not be disappointed. In fact the studio/mangaka takes such great pains to develop on the existing characters that all seem deeper and more realistic than before (with the possible exception of Harunobu).

Art & animation: Somewhat simplistic at times, but nonetheless, delivered in a trade mark style (or I should say,a whole plethora of styles) that works perfectly to highlight the circumstances of whichever scene is then being acted out. I could watch this anime with the sound/subs off and still get a clear sense of the emotions in each scene simply by sight alone.

Music: Possibly one on the best scored anime of all time. The music is pitch perfect throughout, adding a yet deeper layer of emotion to each scene without ever swamping it. I have a collection of each and every OP & ED for this anime, they are all wonderful.

Watch it......Why aren't you watching it yet!

Summary: Stupid but entertaining. I may have watch this all the way through purely out of appreciation for the Honeybadger meme...that and the T&A.

I'm fairly certain that anyone who has watched even one season of anime will recognise this for what it is. Ecchi battle anime. Surprisingly, there's even the semblance of a story too...just don't expect much.

All of the characters, and I do mean ALL, are very one dimensional, the artwork and animation is average, the music is rather forgettable but, in terms of Ecchi, it's actually pretty decent. They do manage to make several of the female characters believable and sexy while making ... them appear capable of the kind of fighting depicted in the anime (there's more than a few pairs of "muscular Thighs"). That rather surprised me. I was also surprised by how the final episode panned out...they clearly intend to make more of this.

One additional little treat is the end credits sequence, I got one or two solid laughs out of it.

Summary: The predictability of a Harem Iesekai combined with the boredom of a 6 hour MMORPG tutorial.

Positives: The animation quality isn't bad and the ed is pretty catchy

Not so positives:
The story is haphazard and dull as dishwater. In the outset it appears that the concept might be, at least a little, diverting...I was completely incorrect.

In terms of characters, our MC is the quintessential Mary Sue, there is no problem he cannot immediately overcome because he is already maxed on XP due to VERY convenient Deus ex machina in the first episode. He also has the personality of a damp, slightly warm, flannel.
As for ... the rest of the characters, they are the usually collection of tropes, with one minor twist; the anime is positively festooned with Lolis. I'm not kidding, they're EVERYWHERE!

The voice acting is generally OK, with a few exceptions. Because of the preponderance of Lolis, several of the voices for the younger characters are grating on the nerves...it's a bit like trying to read a book in a room full of shouting preschoolers.

In Short; Don't waste your time. There are far better anime you could be watching.

legitimately one of my favourite anime of Winter 2018

Summary: Heartwarming and nostalgic, it's a gentle and funny exploration into how first love can be hard to spot and the different speeds children come to realise it.

Firstly, let me address some of the minor issue I have with Karakai Jouzo no Takagi-san:
. Yes, Nishikata does suffer from the, all too common, stupid Protag-kun syndrome. However, in this case, I make allowances for his age. Since I know (from personal experience) how much slower boys are at getting started in the romance game
. Some people regard this anime as having a bullying theme, but I think they ... are very wrong in that regard, since it is clear from the off-set that Takagi has a MAJOR crush on Nishikata and the "teasing" in never mean spirited, but I can see how some people might be misguided into believing this from the title and synopsis.
. Takagi's character design is more 'big forehead' than 'big tree'. I can see how it might be off-putting to some, but I found it endearing.

Now, for the good stuff:
.The show format is broken down by chapter, which means that, while there is progress in the overall story, it is never monotonous and repetitive, especially when it is interspersed with chapters dedicated to the three girls; Mina; Yukari and Sanae. They each had their own unique characters, but Mina was, by far, my favourite as she was the quintessential tomboy. Their contribution was always lighthearted and was responsible for the best of the comedy.
.The romance is clear to see (to everyone except Nishikata, as you'd expect) but it is genuine, gentle and heartwarming. It gave me a great sense of nostalgia. Takagi's teasing is never mean and when her facade does occasionally slip it's really enjoyable to witness (if you like 'young love' stories, as I do).
. The music is another highlight, primarily due to the variety. I'm not certain, but it appears that there is an entire album's worth of ending songs in this anime, all from the artist Rie Takahashi...most surprisingly, they are all well in keeping with the lighthearted nature of this anime and I liked them all, without exception.

Would watch again, especially as a mood booster. Left me with a similar good vibe as the anime Amaama to Inazuma.

Summary: mediocre the anime.

Cheap, derivative, manipulative, highly-polished nonsense.

Frankly, I surprised myself that I was able to struggle though this one. Perhaps it was just Yuzu's character design and the ever present blushes. I'm a cheap date apparently.

Full of generic characters, and a nonsense story line it is really not worth your time....and if I could have mine back too, that'd be great.

additional characters required...surely an anime like this doesn't required much typing to describe, rate and review. At best it is fluff and fantasy wish fulfillment, which isn't always a bad thing and the animation isnt really all that bad - high praise, I know.

I feel like I should review this anime through the medium of Meme only...but, unfortunately, I'm not enough of an Edgyboi to pull that off.

Pop team epic is Sh*tposting the anime...is that enough...I think I should write more.

I think it's harsh to rate this anime in the same way I would any other, since it is, essential, a completely different medium. It's 'high Meme-art'. Because of the nature of this anime it is, therefore, really hard to value the usual attributes of story, art, sound & character...all of which vary wildly (depending on what the meme gods demand) and are sometimes intentionally poor (bob) to ... add 'spice' to the memes.

As a result, I rank its enjoyment as very high (9) because I found myself grinning like a fool throughout but overall as a 6 because it is, most definitely, an acquired taste that, like memes, doesn't improve with repeated viewings.

Summary: beautiful in sound and art it, notheless, fails to capitalise on it's good foundations. Coming across, instead, as cold and slow.

I was one of the many enthusiastic fans of this anime at the outset. I found the 3 part special (those awaiting a star) highly engaging and introducing a really intriguing world and plot line.

My passion for Mahoutsukai no yome has waned ever since for the following reasons:
. it's full of emotional hooks without every being truly emotionally engaging
. it has many arcs that appear to be interesting on the face of it but overall the anime feel rather long and dull
. It is ... jam-packed with magical characters and actions but rarely feels very "magical"
. Chise is in constant peril but, either because I was emotionally disengaged from the character or because the threats didn't seem all that "real", I never felt that she was ever in any real danger of dying.

Please don't get me wrong, by comparison with other anime of the last year Mahoutsukai no yome is still a well made and somewhat enjoyable anime, but it fails to come close to achieving it's potential...at least where I am concerned. I think, perhaps, it suffers from a over reliance on emotional subtext since both Chise and Elias are closed books (with good reason) and struck me as 'cold fish'.

Let me be frank, this is essentially a recap episode (and we all know now well those go down in the anime community!), a 60min recap episode at that.

The gimmick here is that it is a retelling of the events of the 1 season from the perspective of Reigen, embellished for the purpose of making some profit. I call it a gimmick because it doesn't take very long for it to wear on the nerves. Reigen's manipulation of Mob is an essential aspect of the story...but an entire episode of it is far more than I can take.

Regarding all other aspects, apart from few additional ... scenes to move the recap along, it is a highlights reel of all the best fights from season 1, nothing more.

I'm a big fan of Mob Pyscho 100 but a would strongly recommend seeing the highlighted scenes from this recap in context, they certainly suffer from being "retooled" in this episode.
