Both are stories about protagonists pursuing success in the only thing they have to fill the void inside while coping with the isolation and loneliness that comes with it. Hurting people close to them and trying to fix the mistakes are dealt with in both anime albeit in different ways. And even though Shouwa Genroku takes a mature tone compared to Sangatsu, both of these stories are character studies and are pretty good ones at that.

Ningen Shikkaku

Dark and depressing manga with mentally disturbed protagonists who can't understand people or society. Both protagonists were victim of sexual abuse when they were young and were haunted by the memories when they grew older. Both protagonists fail at life and have had one or two unsuccessful romantic relationships that ended badly. Both use existential crisis as one of their main driving themes. Both series are psychological seinen with lots of drama.

Both Gungrave and Gangsta are action seinen anime themed around mafia and criminal gangs with lots of violence and gore. Both follows two close friends working together in a city that's corrupt and lawless. Both have a very bleak and dystopian feel to them. Even the character design for two main characters of both of these anime remind of each other.

Fate/Zero

Both are action anime about a group of people fighting one another to the death. In Basilisk it's about two ninja clans fighting to determine a successor to the shogunate while in Fate Zero it's about seven masters and their servants competing to win the holy grail. Both are action packed, have a fair share of duels, are very engaging and have great storylines. Also, both are very tragic.

Both are romance dramas that will take you on a visit to the holy land of cheesiness. Both are probably dripping with more cheese than Celine dion's lifetime discography.

Both are romantic drama movies that are beautifully drawn and animated. Both are pretty short yet manage to tell very moving stories of love and have a certain degree of bitter-sweetness to them. They are also different from most romance anime out there and have some kind of uniqueness to them.

Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso

Both are Romance anime with heavy dramatic tone and little to no comedy. Both deal with romance between a somewhat troubled guy and a girl with near terminal illness. Both of them also deal with issues like death and what it means to lose loved ones although through secondary characters in Hantsuki. While Shigatsu is based around music Hantsuki is based around hospital.
