(This contains a spoiler.) A lot of people think Lucky Star is very boring and slow, which is what I thought when I first saw it. But later, i gave it another chance, and it’s actually really cute and good. It’s basically the anime equivalent to Seinfeld, where they talk about mundane things, like chocolate cornets, whatever those are.
STORY: There isn’t really a plot at all, just the daily shenanigans of the girls. There will be some occasional episodes where they show more about the characters, like when they reveal Konata’s mother. (9)
VISUALS: I’m a big Kyoto Animation fan, so it goes without saying that
...
I love the visuals. They’re very cute. That’s why it’s called moe, anyway. The animation is smooth and the movements are too. However, one issue is that it makes everyone look very young, especially the adults.
MUSIC/VOICE ACTING: To me, the music in the background is very simplistic and cute-sounding, which overall fits well with Lucky Star’s theme. This anime also has very good voice acting, especially in the English dub for me. In the dub, the dialouge is extremely authentic and natural, which is rare, especially for a slice of life anime.
CHARACTERS: The characters are the best part of the show. Their dynamics and interactions are very fun and pleasant to watch. Plus, Lucky Star has one of my favorite characters in all anime, Konata Izumi. The others are great too.
ENJOYMENT: Overall, this was a pleasant anime to watch, and I always love rewatching when I can, it really never gets old.
