At its simplest its a moe comedy that rivals that greats even such that as Yuru Yuri. The art starts out great and becomes extraordinarily beautiful as the mangaka Koi refines her design work. Its always funny and has me grinning like an idiot from the moment i see a chapter was released to the moment that i finish.
But its much more.
A layer deeper it is more than any other moe anime/manga. It goes the K-on! route but on a whole new level.
Gochiusa dances around the idea of time passing for a while. It always is, people move on through their years in school,
...
birthdays are had, seasons change. Except the manga has directly presented us with the fact that the passing of time, means some things and end, and new things begin.
It explores that codependency is a beautiful thing, and using a codependent relationship to build independent mindsets is natural and should be celebrated. We all grow up. And sometimes that means leaving the past behind.
Youth is fleeting and Gochiusa knows that. So far almost 4 years have past in the manga. One of the main 5 is in college, 3 are in their senior year, and the final has just started high school and is making her own independent friends.
Chino, the youngest, who was once a shy self kept girl cruching on her magical rabbit grandfather, is now able to be self sufficient without her manic pixie dream girl deuteragonist Cocoa.
And Cocoa knows that as time moves on so must she with her own life.
This manga will make me cry when it ends. I know it.
The story is possibly starting at your standard moe 7-8, but becomes evidently heading torwards a 10 for the reasons above. For now i will give it a 9.
STORY AND THEMES: STROOOOOOOOOONG 9
The characters on their own are 10s. Cocoa is maybe the 2nd best character I've seen in modern east fiction. And the relationships are on a level of Yuru Yuri. Where everyone has a well defined opinion on everyone else. Which is paramount and sometimes lacking in these ensemble cast moe titles.
CHARACTERS AND RELATIONSHIPS: 10
For the art, I IMPLORE YOU, go to safebooru, set the filter to Koi, and look at what they have done lately, it is drop dead gorgeous. No manga has made appreciate color pages as much as it does. the line work is absurdly good throughout the manga. The humor is baked into every panel along with its moe to be sure. This art style, in my opinion, is 2nd only to that of the esteemed Namori of Yuru Yuri fame. I always buy Koi, the Mangakas, art books when they drop.
ART: 10!!!!!!!!!!
OVERALL: Hands down a true masterpiece. 10

Nino fans I apologize, they some how did you even more dirty
Miku fans.... well i honestly never bought her sorry.
Ichika fans... yikes.
And Itsuki fans, your girl is number one homie. And they somehow baited that non relationship harder than they ever had before.
Read the manga.
Even if you don't like Yotsuba, read the manga, it makes it easier to accept. The manga still has issues, but this movie has way more and there is plausible evidence for Yotsuba in the manga.
As a Yotsuba fan, i am offended.
...
I of course was satisfied with the manga ending, but i know many were not. But I feel people could swallow the pill... with time... to some extent there because there was important shots that were framed better than the Movie, and important scenes that were full skipped like the solo swing scene of Yotsuba that takes place just before the movie, and some important exposition in the pool episode.
I always believe the 2nd season should have ended with the pool episode because the scene that happens RIGTH AFTER the last scene of the 2nd season where they elaborate on Yotsuba being the childhood friend.
I knew this movie would be rushed, but this is absurd.
I still fervently believe Yotsuba had evidence for winning, less than Nino, but more than the other 3.
But for as much extra screen time they gave Yotsuba, they gutted any of her meaningful scenes of value, and full on skipped some of her most important moments.
Read. The. Manga.

If you did not like it, you just did not get the clearly genius satire presented by this show.
I refuse to believe this show was anything but a well constructed comedy, showing all the absurd notes your average demonlord, power fantasy, generic reincarnation series has, cranks it to an 11, and wears the most straight face the whole time.
If you told me there was an anime where a demon lord was reincarnated, flexxed by killing someone with his fuckin heart beat, spun a entire fucking castle on his finger like a basket ball before throwing it, had like... 3 basically idol insert songs of
...
a fan group cheering someone on, and the most fate/stay night one liners ever "Did you really think killing me was enough to make me die"... I would think you described a show stupid show that is full of cheesy meta references, and making the really generic modern take of trying to make plenty of jokes about how cRaZy this is for a isekai.
This anime does all of this with a stern expression like nothing they just did was wrong, stupid, or nonsensical in any way. This seriousness of going from extreme action to extreme action is what sells someone like me, an appreciator of absurdist comedy, to this series so hard.
With the budget of a mid anime giving its story, art, and sound a 4 from me, the comedy of this anime gave me a 10 for enjoyment shitposting about this stuff with my mates.
For characters... only 3 stood out to me. You have the white haired busty kuudere, and the twintailed more "waist-full" tsundere. So basically exactly what you think, as far as these generic tropes go, they have more unique backstory... relatively speaking. I do appreciate some of the comedy moments sprung between the MC and them, but dont expect some amazing character drama or romance story there.
Speaking of the MC, Reincarnated Demon Lord Anos Voldigoad is what carries the character score. He is the reason everything about this show works because his suave condescending way of telling everyone just how stupid they are for not understanding the infinite "trivial" concepts he was birthed knowing. His one liner should have been "Thats stupid, your stupid, im not stupid, stop being stupid". (6 for character)
Truly from the moment his reincarnated self was birthed into this world, and his first words were telling his parents his name was Anos Voldigoad with the voice of a man... I knew this anime was special.
Overall: 9
An amazing satire of the drama in the age of satires becoming trite.

I will keep this brief. This is shaft we are talking about. The monogatari vibes are insane. But because it is shaft, the show has a lot of... complicated scenes. Rapid jump cuts, evocative angles that are suppose to carry the emotion instead the dialogue. But debatable this is a harder to follow anime than monogatari. The monogatari series has a lot of quick shots of statements to help illustrate thoughts. That aside, again because it is studio Shaft, the animation is superb, the characters can look vibrant, or menacing when needed. If you can follow the story direction, it is a great story. A
...
story showing multiple viewpoints of how to make the best of a bad situation, or to make nothing of it at all. But given this is marketed for everyone, I marked down the story and character because the sort of way of presenting the story can lead to confusion. overall I liked the show fine. It is another fate series well done, but if you came here expecting something more like Ufotable's works and nothing different, you WILL be disappointed.
