Both are about humans who, through different means, become super-powered cyborgs. Both series have the characters fighting crime and evil. This was a big theme in the 60s with the advent of technology, especially of the robotic type.

Both series deal with the main female character who wants to succeed in the seiyuu business. Whereas Rec is a mix of romance, comedy and slice-of-life, Gi(a)rlish is more realistic and somewhat straight out sarcastic view of the seiyuu community.

I always like to keep my recommendations short and quick because it really comes down to the viewer. One of the first things that jumped out at me was that Natsu (the bear) has a lot of the same strange humor that Shirokuma had from SC. Almost a deadpan delivery. The other that both had was that the animals interacted with human. With SC, all the animals interacted with human. In KM, only the bears interacted with members of people of a small village in the northern Tohoku region. Interacted as they talked to each other. This makes for some funny conversations at time.

I think this idea has been a bit overdone. KST is about a female teen who uses magic and illusions to steal items, returning them to their rightful owners. The only difference is that her best friend knows about what she does because she's a Catholic nun in training.

It took a whole for me to come up with the recommendation mostly because I was looking at it from the wrong angle. How "A!MG" and "Inari" (for short) compare well with each other is the interaction of gods with humans. Not just everyday interacts but also falling in love with each other. I won't put any spoilers here because that's what makes "Inari" fun to watch ("A!MG" is a very well known series). In both series, the humans do get a taste of some of the powers of being a god, go to the plane where the gods live and even get to know other gods. Whereas "A!MG" manga is about to end, "Inari" manga is still ongoing, unlike the anime. It's still a good watch.

These are similar in the fact that instead of musical instrument, the female characters play MMPOG, first person, military-type video games. Since the series is only three chapters in, there hasn't been enough to form a complete recommendation. Just stay tuned, this will be updated.

It would be silly to not compare this to Needless. Both deal with people with enhanced powers, or superpower. In this case, "Kill Ia Kill" has the student council have their enhanced powers come from what are called Ultima Uniforms. In "Needless" the main protagonist, Cruz, has no powers but is able to out strategize his opponents and defeat them. In "Kill la Kill" Ryūko Matoi carries one half of a scissors sword that can defeat the Ultima Uniforms.

Though Locke is more of a space opera and Railgun is super-powered slice-of-life, they both have the idea that ESPer powers can be developed. In the Locke universe, the students train at Lady Kahn's school to become ESPers. There are no levels or variations like there is with Railgun. Also in Locke they students are trained to be used as a took for evil. It's rarely their choice to use their powers for the good. Railgun, each other students are trained because of the pursuit of science. Some do use their powers for evil, other's good.

In both cases they do damage but aren't able to win out. Of course this is the only resemblance between the two. But it's a good start.

Going into detail about these two series (and AKB0048 Next Stage) would seem to be given how similar they are. First off, both series are idol groups. AKB0048 is the developed group with LL is showing how the group μ's is starting to form from the ground up. Both AKB0048 and μ's have groups against. For μ's it's the student government while AKB0048 has planetary governments. Of course in the end we all know both will triumph. Enjoy the series. Neither will classics, but they are fun to watch.

If you're looking at these two as a comparison of similar anime stories, don't, there isn't one. Instead look at these two as having a similarity of overabundant histrionics (lot of shouting and overacting) and male characters that are very gar. The storylines are simple within themselves. Just remember that these two series are both over-the-top, so be ready for it.

I'll just keep this short. Both series deal with a young driver who drives an advanced racing car. With Speed Racer, it's the Mach 5 with it's gadgets. Future GPX Cyber Formula, it is Asurada, the most advanced computer enhanced race car. So as you can see, both are car racing animes that are 25 years apart. You could call the Mach 5 the grandfather of Asurada.

Heroman is an modern interpretation of Gigantor/Tetsujin-28. It's about a teen who remote controls a giant robot. In the case of Gigantor is via a control box and Heroman by a wrist control. Also in both series, they were out to save the world. Gigantor was the typical superhero vs. spies, evil organizations while Heroman first storyarc is to save the world from an invasion of alien cockroches known as Kruggs. Both series were also created by men who were giants their respective fields: Stan Lee of Marvel Comics fame and Mitsuteru Yokoyama who was influenced and even hired by Osamu Tezuka.

The main character of both mangas are slacker/neets. They have really no interest in joining anything. Also the respective music clubs (K-ON! = light band and HWO = wind orchestra) are to be closed due to lack of participants. Then the main character, with no musical skills whatsoever, is able to become the catalyst to get the clubs back up and running. Both mangas are slice-of-life, shounen and music genres. Since HWO just started I don't how it will compare to K-ON! story or music wise. As the main these of HWO stated, "Take one step ahead in life and you don't know what could happen." I say take a chance with HWO.
