Ok, i watched the movie just now and will make a quick summary but not going into detail on the story but just from a technical point of view...
I have watched the original anime not to long ago, thus it helps comparing both...
They both start the story by introducing guts during a castle siege where he takes on the resident "monster".
The animation during this part was brilliant giving a lot of realism to the siege and the battles being fought, this remains thorough the movie, characters animation also look fantastic and fluid.....
The art, is the main issue with this faithful remake, Griffith only lacks sparkles

While the art on this movie is superb, the animation behind it did a great job bringing it to life, it is then that it is unfortunate the soundtrack could not accompany this epic movie, the music was wrongly chosen, whereas more traditional songs should have been played, modern music is what we are presented with, music that would find its place on a modern setting or a disney movie, which this movie isnt. A movie featuring traditional Japanese mythology should have traditional, more classical Japanese songs...
Another place where it faults is perhaps the week characters and average character design which looks clearly inferior to ... the remaining setting... The plot is also less than ideal, it focus to much on Human weakness and how Man is easily overwhelmed when it obtains power beyond what it should wield and how it uses that power to shape the World to His image destroying all that stands in the way... But faults aside, this is an enjoyable movie with an interesting setting, and perhaps a fantastic world to watch...

Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom

The story of this anime, is highly predictable, at least it was so for me, but it was interesting how it got developed, progressively, when the story looks like is starting to settle, there is a twist to shake things up a little, these twists are somewhat predictable most of the time, but the strength of the twists rely on how they are executed and when, and sometimes when things move according to your liking, things actually start getting exciting…
There are many characters in the anime, enough to remember by the end of the anime and the personalities brought to the game and how they ... develop that’s the backbone of the story, even Mio just a side character leaves a strong impression, but I believe Cal was the strongest and the weakest at the same time, also the most emotive, she was probably the most memorable and impactful, while Ein’s strength was her lack of a past, a future and her emotionless, her weakness was the gaining of emotions, Zwei is the one who had everything, and because he had everything he also lost everything, and that was his weakness and strength. Even Scythe was memorable, no one could forget the Villain, his actions, his demency and how he met his end … The animation is good, character design are realistic and so is pretty much everything, there isn’t much color and the background is somber, the CG drawn cars are realistic looking but look out of place and the action is quite fantastic to watch, especially in the last episode, its chilling and exciting, watching Ein fight was the pinnacle of the excitement… The music is fantastic perfectly tuned to the mood, never missing a beat or a chord and elevating the action to a new height and setting the mood for the drama, making the best scenes memorable… Overall, I started skeptical, but soon enough I found a gun pointed to my head while hearing an eerie orgel (music box)song play on my back, I couldn’t contain the tears of excitation while biting my nails, I knew what was going to happen next, watching the characters move while listening to the music and watching everything happen right in front of me was truly the peak of the moment, and while watching patiently the last seconds, they almost surprised me and I could finally whip my tears of excitement and have a deep breath… Honestly of all the possible endings, this one was the most exciting they could make…

Gin-iro no kami no Agito
Story: In the past, Man was doing genetic experiments on the Moon with plants, one day something went wrong, due to a genetic error, these plants gained life and a tremendous power destroying half the Moon, attacking then the Heart with a destructive power, ending the civilization as it was known. Now 300 years in the future the forest is alive and is dangerous to the humans, it controls the existing water in the planet, but the humans managed to coexist with the forest, except one faction that believes the forest should not have such power and must be controlled or destroyed. Agito ... is the son of one of the "Neutral city" creators and one day while trying to steal some water accidentally ended in some sort of civilization ruins where he finds Toola on a timeless slumber inside of a chamber accidentally waking her up. Toola is the daughter of the scientist from 300 years ago who was running experiments on the moon; he also created a system to fight the forest but for some reason didn’t use it. Now Shunack another Human from the past, an assistant to Toola's father, joined the Ragna Army whose purpose is to fight the forest, he seeks Toola has only her can find and activate the technology capable of restoring the planet to how it was before. Things won’t go as Shunack wants and Agito will receive the power from the forest to try and stop the destruction and save Toola from his hands... Characters: There are very few important characters in this movie, as it only runs for 90m, due to the nature of the story, there’s no need for extensive character development and I already talked about the main characters and their importance; therefore I will skip this part... Animation: This is absolutely the best part in the anime. As soon as the anime starts, prepare for the jaw breaking sequence of the moon destruction. The movie runs on a multitude of superb backgrounds, from the city founded in the canyons over the ruins of the past, the neighbor living forest and the desert. The background in the city is mostly colored in a grayish mixed with orange rusty color making it look like a post apocalyptic city, during the race trough the ruins every little detail looks great, every artificial made object like pipes and constructions is drawn in 3D CG animation that blends perfectly with the backgrounds and characters, also the animation flow is so fast and rich that makes it look amazing. As we approach the forest the green covers de rusty orange, as we get inside the forest, everything is huge; the use of colors here is great and the trees look almost real, the leaves are specially animated with great detail and is as close to real as possible, the forest is alive and has a mind, this shows during some attacks, the leaves suddenly start to agglomerate forming a huge mass at an incredible speed creating in the end a green dragon, here the animation is full 3D showing a stunning scene gorgeously animated. The desert is similar to the city using grey colors and everything looks good. The character design is simpler than all other animation, still, everyone looks great, and when there is action, the animation never fails to surprise. To finish this part we will take a look ate the mecha design and particle system. The Ragna Army, is a military faction trying to fight the forest amazing power, therefore they have advanced in military technology. The army is composed of a dual train, basically its two trains attacked together running parallel to each other, its design is rather simple but still fully 3D animated, the train provides for a great scene when one of the compositions is destroyed, creating an amazing explosion. The train serves solely for transport, the army's strength is in the mechas, there are 2 different types of mechas the first one is a huge red machine that walks on 4 legs and has a huge canon on its bottom, its aspect is similar to a bug, great details are given while they move and fire. The other type is smaller, about one 10th maybe smaller; it’s colored blue and looks more like a scorpion with the canon coming from the rear. The mechs are in 3D, all nicely detailed and animated. The fire explosions look great, a great particle system was using as we see the detailed sparkles from the explosion and the smoke also is full 3D, its color ranges from black to light grey... The clouds seem to use the same system used in the smoke, maybe a little more advanced, when approaching the city they look huge mass approaching, from close or under it, looks lime they where filming a real storm, except for lightning, its only a pacific rain, imagine a sunny day, there’s a huge mass of clouds approaching bringing a long waited rain, watch has it falls in the skies and the bright land bathed in the sun is covered with shadow and the blue sky covered in grey, that’s how it looks... The best way to describe the animation is to watch by yourself, as it is hard to transpose its sublimity into words. Music: The opening song is quite good, "Chouwa oto ~with reflection~" by KOKIA, the song focus on her voice while a gentle piano string plays in the background, the video sequence for the op is the destruction that took place 300 years ago. Overall, the music does a great work during he movie, always complementing the animation the best way and being in 5.1 all of the audio effects sound awesome during the breath taking scenes. The Ed song "Ai no Melody" by KOKIA has a pop stile, it has KOKIA singing more melodic and the music is more complete, instead of a piano solo features more instruments making for a livelier song to appreciate while in background some scenes of after the storm are showed... Overall: Gin-iro no kami no Agito is a 90m movie, so don’t expect a great story or a lot of character's development, instead turn of the light's, raise the volume and sit back while enjoying this light story on a rich world, where the animation is astounding and the music naturally enchants your years. In the end you will fell satisfied with this great work.

Simoun
This anime is unique in most aspects, firs there is the interesting world where everyone is born female and have to chose the sex at the age of 17 to become an adult, there is the technology which is the main focus of the anime in pone side there’s an ancient technology that provides power to every kind of vehicle from a simple boat to a huge battleship and then there is the simoun believed to be some kind of divine chariot or something that can fly graciously trough the sky and perform beautiful prayers to the gods, in the other side there is man's ... technology, making use of high polluting fuel, and look real bad, not that are bad drawn or something but represents the opposite of the simoun's refined technology, and there’s a whole difference in the fighting forces, in one side we have the gracious "Sibyllae" (priestesses who fly the Simoun) which are worshipped by the population, they are young and beautiful girls who have yet to chose their sex, on the other side the military from an unknown country called Argentus, never shown in the anime, they look like they came out of the 1st world war with those nbc suits and masks speaking an unknown language and are at war with Simulacrum the simoun’s country… The animation is awesome and very bright, there’s the green nature on one side and the corrupted nature caused by the industry and war on other side, the mechanical designs are awesome everything looks amazing, even the ugly machines are somewhat original and actually good looking from a different point of view. The character are exceptionally well drawn, different from each others, the cloths design is great, the eyes of the characters look lively and bright, almost hypnotizing, interesting is the transition from women to male, it happens gradually as the facial expression starts to change the chest starts to disappear and the voice to change, most of the time the male characters still look quite feminine… Music overall is quite good, the op/ed by savage genius might not please everyone but I like savage genius. All the characters voices sound right, even the males voices different from the females but still with a feminine touch, I wonder if there is any male seyuu in the whole show… Overall is a great anime, might be a little boring in the middle maybe reason whys is not high ratted but it’s a definitely a great anime…

Mahou Shoujo Tai
Story: The story takes place from the perspective of Alice, a girl that is in love with the idea of magic living in a unmagical human world, with the help of a mysterious magical book that her father had given to her, she mysteriously enters the realm of the witches. Suddenly, Alice found herself being in the forest she had never seen and being stared at by a creature looked like a fairly. Then, a witch on a broom came and attacked her. She and the fairly ran away not knowing why. Until that morning, she used to be a normal girl, and she was ... in her class listening to the teacher speaking with only half an ear. She must have been only an eleven-year-old girl, who opened the book titled "A book that makes you a witch", which had been given by her father, and imagined herself to be a witch. She and the fairly were caught by a witch and confined into a fairly jail. Soon, apprentice witches, Sheila and Eva, came. They were astonished that there was a human in the magical world. Alice also came to realize that it was a magical world. Alice changes the world in which she exists and tries to make it better, she teaches by example that magic is privileged rather than something to be taken for granted. Mahou shoujo tai, takes u on a amazing ride through the world of magic with Alice, like never seen!! In terms of both visual style and storytelling it breaks with a lot of anime conventions, using rare but beautiful character designs (the character design on this amime, reminds me of noien, I don’t recall watching other anime like this) , strange but interesting creatures, the backgrounds are gorgeous like all the rest, and animation is also good… The characters are great, each of the main characters Alice, Eva and Sheila, each has a unique personality, even the secondary characters are great with lots of different looks and personalities… The music is Superb with a magic atmosphere; the background effects and ambiance are, with a suitable musical score to match, and the characters voices feat perfectly. In the music score I have to give a special mention to the ed song "DuDiDuWa*lalala" by KOTOKO, I just love this music, and it feats the show quite well… Overall: This is that kind of anime either u love or either u hate (well I don’t believe anyone could hate it), its an enjoyable anime worth anyone watching it…

Jigoku Shoujo
(Anime)

There is a rumor. There exists a message board called “Jigoku Tsushin” where one can access only at midnight. It is said that if one writes his grudge against someone, Jigoku Shoujo appears and she takes the person to the Hell.
“ 闇に惑いし哀れな影よ・・・ 人を傷つけ貶めて、罪に溺れし業の魂 ・・・ いっぺん、死んで見る? "Pitiful shadow cloaked in darkness.Thy actions cause men pain and suffering. Thy hollow soul drowns in thy sins. How would you like to see what death is like?" ” — Enma Ai. Story: Jigoku shoujo is about Enma Ai, her job is to accept other’s revenge and take them to hell, the story in the beginning is quite linear since each ep is similar and ... there is no relation between ep. Jigoku Shoujo might be a collection of short stories. Each of them descript the suffering of a different individual caused by one or more antagonists of him/her, and the subsequent punishment they inflict on them with the help of Enma Ai, each episode deals with someone’s revenge and there is no connection between episodes as the revenge is carried in a single episode. During each story or ep (since each ep deals with a complete story), the protagonist dramas are explained, showing us how did it all started to where when the Jigoku Shoujo is contacted, Enma Ai will then appear and hand black straw doll with a red string tied to its neck, she then says “if u really wish to take revenge, take the red string, if you remove that string you shall enter officially in a contract with me, the one u seek revenge upon will be carried to hell immediately. However if I deliver your revenge, I must have you make restitution to me. When one person is cursed, to graves are dug, when you die your soul shall fall to the pits of hell. Your spirit shall wander forever in pain and suffering, never having known paradise.” (Translation is different for each fansub group, but the meaning is the same). When someone’s cursed, a mark appears in the chest, remembering this person of his/her sin, reminding them that after their lives come to end, they must give compensation by having their own soul carried to Hell. This is only in the first episodes, starting from ep 8, 2 new important characters are introduced: A journalist named Hajime Shibata who is investigating the stories involving the Jigoku Shoujo, and his daughter Tsugumi. After an encounter with Enma Ai, Tsugumi starts to have visions of her and thus the duo becomes more and more involved in her matters. Tsugumi is somehow related to Ai, this is something that won’t be reveled up to ep 23, but will be dealed from ep 13up. Because of this connection, Tsugumi always knows who is the next client or victim, and Hajime will try to stop the revenge. The introduction of the 2 characters is important to the story, since they will always be present, trying to uncover the Jigoko Shoujo secret… Characters: Enma Ai, she is a beautiful young red eyed girl with Dark Hair, usually wearing traditional sailor school uniform. Her Mission is to carry others revenge to hell… She is quite a mature character, and as to be tough in order to carry the mission. We can see that she is not a bad person, even thought she may look terrifying sometimes, it seams she feels something for the ones she carries to hell, has an example in ep 21, she seemed she really enjoyed to take the guy to hell, I could be seen on her face and in he voice. Other example was ep 23, a pure, honest and innocent girl loved by all was sent to hell, it was easy to tell she was not happy, she showed a really sad face and expressed a sad voice. She lives in a house in an unknown world that is in eternal sunset with her grandmother who orders her around and whose face never appears only her voice and shadow. It seams she doesn’t lead a happy life, and there seams to be something bothering her, like if she is being forced to do that work… Enma Ai doesn't work alone. Ai, Ichimoku Ren, Wanyuudo, and Hone Onna are the only are her assistants… Wanyuud ou, he is an old man wearing a hat and a red scarf that becomes the same black doll delivered to each one of their "clients" Ichimoku Ren, is a handsome young man in casual clothes. He has the power to look beyond walls with a mysterious big eye. Hone Onna (Bone Woman), a beautiful woman wearing a kimono, she usually helps seducing mans and helps out with the investigation and torture… They help Ai during the event when their victims are confronted with their own sins, prior to the moment when she (dressed in traditional kimono with floral patterns) ferries them to hell. Also, the trio helps her investigate the true nature of their cases every time they content something suspicious. They usually do most of the work; Enma Ai only gives the final blow and rides the boat to Hell. Tsugumi – This small girl as met the Jigoku Shoujo, they seam to have some sort of relation as Tsugumi is able to incarnate her for a few seconds giving her a sight of what she sees, and sometimes what she speaks. As it seams Ai is doing it intentionally, but why is yet to be explained. Hajime Shibata – He is Tsugumis father, he works as an investigator, he is trying to uncover and stop the Jigoku Shoujo, he is wise man that can easily deceive most of peoples to try and get information about the surroundings of each case, he follows Tsugumi’s leads to every case and is seen as an annoyance for the trio helping Ai, but it seams she does not wish them any harm, maybe wanting to be followed by them… Tsugumi and her father are descendents of Shintaro, the one and only one Ai friend, then one who protected her and in the end the one o utterly killed her, here may lye the reason why the Jigoko Shoujo is interested in them… These are the only characters that really care trough the series… There is so much I could tell about the characters and their relationships, but it would make a big review even bigger, and add so much more spoilers to a review full of spoilers… Animation - The animation in Jigoko Shoujo is very good, the art in this anime has a dark tendency, as it’s supposed to be am horror anime, the background art is also detailed an quite pleasing some times, like in her house, the beautiful nature that surrounds it, makes it look like paradise, and in contrast, the hell scenes, even thought they are reused to some extent, are really good, and look really dark, sometimes we see spirit hand trying to catch the one being ferried, also usually the chase/murder scenes are really good with great special effects that can be disturbing sometimes. The character design usually is also really good, with nice colors, and good proportion, the big round eyes look good on the characters, specially the red ones in Enma Ai, together with the long dark hair, she looks like a beautiful doll u would like to have, also the flower kimono she wears is special, if u watch the anime u will notice the flowers moving trough the kimono, giving it a mysterious look… Music: Op, the op music is not bad, it’s a regular pop song, sung by Snow (sont have any information on her, as ANN doesn’t have any for me), I don’t have the lyrics so I cant say much about the letter but I think it suits the op art. The music in Jigoku shoujo is nice, I’m currently listening to the soundtrack, while doing this part; the music contains some soft and gentle melodies using flute, cord instruments and piano, along with some traditional instruments, this music is suited for the light scenes in the story; since this is an horror anime, its supposed to have dark music, this music, is more the electronic type and more heavy, using electronic instruments together with some guitar and drums, which helps to set the dark mood throughout the series. The Ed song is more soft, Karinui sung by Noto Mamiko (Enma Ai seyuu), I think it’s better than the op. I don’t currently have the dvd with me so I cant do much more for the music, but as soon as I get it ill try to update a little… Enjoyment: When I got the first ep I did know nothing about Elfen lied, and once I started watching it, I was surprised with the great op, I thought it was really a beautiful op with a great music, but after the op those next 7m really caught me on surprise, looking all that gore, fanservise and deaths made me think, what where those guys thinking, everyone will be caught by the beginning of the show, and that’s when people will think if they should stop there or if they want to see what’s going to happen next. During the show u will end up liking the character, and enjoy each situation not getting bothered with the violence. The interest factor is always high throughout the anime, and the fights are always short yet unpredictable. You never know when Lucy might just rip a person’s head off. Other aspects of the anime: The Buddhist statue that appears at several points in the series, with what looks like a club/sword and a golden pomegranate in her hands (especially in ep 13) is Benzaiten (弁才天), originally the Hindu Goddess Sarasvati. She is one of the “Seven Lucky Gods,” and the patron of music, dance and general good fortune –all in all, a very bright deity overseeing this very dark story. She’s usually represented carrying a biwa (lute) and a jewel in her hands. Benzaiten is enshrined at Enoshima, the island in Kanagawa prefecture where the events of the series take place. She is also associated with the story of the White Snake –the archetypical East Asian story of falling in love with a woman who is not quite what she seems. The story of Elfen Lied happened in the City of Kamakura (鎌倉市) of Kanagawa Prefecture (神奈川県).

Story: Kamichu! Is the story of Yurie Hitotsubashi and her friends. Yurie is a normal middle school student just like her friends, one day during lunch with her friend Mitsue, Yurie says she has become a god, just like if it was something normal, Mitsue believes her friend right away, upon hearing this Matsuri immediately introduces herself as Yurie’s best friend, asking her what kind of God she turned into, Matsuri is a priestess of a local shrine and is interested in the recently born God.
After that, the 3 friend rush to the school roof to find out what kind of God she is, they ... try everything to find out, but nothing works, then they notice some pieces of paper with some kanji writing flying from the higher part of the roof, it turns out to be Kenji Ninomiya, the boy Yuri has a crush on, she then sees a paper with the kanji “try your best” witted, after this her friends says if she confesses her love in a windy day, her love will be returned, and so they tell her to summon the wind, on a last effort Yurie yell’s “Kamichu!” (kamichu is the abbreviation for Kamisama de Chugakusei, means middle school God), a flag in a ship is seen being agitated by a light wind far away, as a warning of what is to come, but nothing else happens. Latter at night on the news there is a typhoon report, the typhoon is named Yurie and has an image of her face on the center, it was the first time the new God uses her power. Yurie now has to stop the typhoon, even without knowing what kind of God she is, but everything goes well… Yurie, as a new God, will have to keep going to the school, as well taking care of her town. Kamichu! is set in the city of Onomichi in Hiroshima prefecture, on the shores of Japan's Inland Sea. Many of the temples and landmarks shown in the anime are real places in and around the city, it is a city were spirits are everywhere, there is a spirit for every creation, and they are hanging around the city, but only God’s can see them and talk to them, Yurie will become a friend of all of this spirits, and will have to deal with problems like an alien from mars, a missing God, and others… Kamichu, mixes the real with the fantastic like no other, if Studio Ghibli where to do an animated series, then it would be Kamichu… The story is simple yet, a charming story… Characters: The characters are the main reason why this is a great anime, a cast composed by humans and gods. Most of the cast on Kamichu isn’t very known, as most of them have only performed secondary or minor roles on other animes, but still this cast couldn’t have been better chosen as every seyuu gives life to the characters perfectly… The main cast is composed by Yurie Hitotsubashi, who discovered one day she had turned into a God, she is the center of the anime, and her cuteness and charm is what keeps all the other characters close to her, her powers are still unknown, but she always does what she wishes and what the others need, she has a younger brother Shoukichi Hitotsubashi, he doesn’t play a big role in the anime, but still there will be good moments between him and his sister, also later on he will develop a crush on Miko Saegusa… Yurie seyuu is Mako, Her anime voice acting debut was in Kamichu, yet she did a great job giving life to the character, her voice suites Yurie’s cuteness perfectly and is responsible for making her so cute… Mitsue Shijou, is Yurie’s best friend, she is quite and practical, she tries her best to help Yuri in her mission and tries to prevent her from being overused by Matsuri, she is also used by Yashima-Sama the local God, always getting possessed by him to interact with the other people and give his rock concerts, a situation which doesn’t make he happy… Her seyuu is Kaori Mine, also rather unknown but with more experience than Yurie’s seyuu, also here she does a good job portraying the character… Matsuri Saegusa is the energetic character and tries to use Yurie the best she can, but without bad intention, she has a younger sister called Miko Saegusa, she appears to be more mature and does most of the job at the temple, latter she will develop a crush on Yurie’s brother… Rika Morinaga is another seyuu with little experience, she has only done some small roles on other animes, but like the rest of the seyuus she does a great work on portraying the energetic Matsuri … Kenji Ninomiya, he is the boy from the calligraphy club, in fact the only one, and usually can be seen on the school roof working on it, he a simple and forgetful person, yet he is honest, he is the person Yurie-chan has a crush from since they entered middle school, but he is so spaced out he wont notice her… He is played by Issei Miyazaki, he is also not very known in anime, but like all the other he does a good work… Yashima-Sama is the local God at the Saegusa’a shrine, he will be missing early and Yuri will go after him to the God’s world, he usually possesses Mitsue in order to interact with other characters, but she doesn’t like it at all, especially when he performs his rock… Kousuke Okano is a veteran but only on minor roles, he does Yashima’s role and does a good job… Tama-chan, is Yurie’s cat, and is quite an interesting character as she (the cat) is possessed by the binbogami (Binbo+Kami, is the god of poverty), Tama-chan will always be near Yuri helping her out, and ads to the funny moments, its fun to watch Tama and Binbogami interact with the other character and with themselves, Tama is actually 2 characters, de cat and the God, the cat usually acts like a cat, and communicates with Yuri trough the conscience, while when acting like the Binbogami, voice changes, the expression’s and usually walks on 2 legs and can communicate with everyone talking like a normal person, in fact while acting like the Binbogami acts just like a person, doing things like eating watermelons and spiting the seed or taking he breakfast to lazy Yuri, the most fun moments are when Yurie’s brothers finds Tama/binbo doing thing a cat usually doesn’t do, and then trying to hide it making it even funnier… As probably one of the most important characters in the anime, the most veteran seyuu does the two roles, Tama/Binbo, and does a great job, and when u get to know them you will know why; she is used to be the main character in the animes she performs, some of her best roles are: Lavie Head/Last Exile, Rebecca "Becky" Miyamoto/Pani Poni Dash!, and a lot others, gotta love her voice… We can’t forget that besides the main characters, there are lots of other interesting characters, specially the minor spirits and goods, one for every creation all of them funny in their ways, specially the ones that interact more with Yurie-chan, and above all this is he special wish collecting team, the Shiwase team (team happiness) composed by he tiny boar, deer and butterfly, its always fun to see them around… These are in part responsible for making the world look real… Animation: The character design in this anime is awesome; this is clearly a superior anime, the character designs are attractive and the entire characters look really cute, the detail level is high and we can see the character faces actually moving while they talk, special attention on how the mouth follows the words and all the expressions the characters make, and this level of quality isn’t only in the first and last eps like most of the animes, this quality is a constant during all the anime, even the minor characters looks good and all of those minor gods… Not only the character design on this anime is great, everything is, this is a colorful world Full of detail, but everything looks real, like the houses, objects, the water, the aerial views of the town are beautiful and show all of this richness, the animations is so smooth, the characters blend perfectly with the background and never look out of place. All of this together makes the Kamichu world look real; it makes u fell like if u went to that town you would find all of that… Op animation: The op animation, manages to be even better than the rest of the anime, the animation gives a small view over the town and some of the characters, and is mostly composed of some scenes from the fist ep. Ed animation: This is totally different from the rest of the anime, the animation here is a loot poorer than the anime, but that’s not what matter here, the animation is mainly composed by a static blue sky covered with white clouds in the background, with some green trees, in the front there’s two wood pillars covered with a red roof, in the middle a big sign where the Ed animation occurs, the tree close friends acting to the sound of music, Mitsue on the left playing the guitar, Yurie in the middle playing the maracas and Masturi on the right playing drum, all painted with aquarelle colors , the animation is poor but it actually makes it good looking and fun… Music: Kamichu! has a great animation, great story, great character development, everything on it looks good, and the music gives all that the final touch, making it even greater. The music is mostly orchestral with traditional influences. The Op "Hare nochi HARE [Fine Weather Followed by Fine Weather]" by Maho Tomita, a young and inexperienced seyuu, despised that, it is a gentle yet beautiful song and helps setting the always happy mood of the series. The Ed "Ice Candy" by MAKO, is sung by Yurie’s seyuu, is a little more pop than the Op, but suits the Ed animation perfectly and also helps to the mood… Overall: Kamichu! as been referenced as “Spirited away”, and with a reason, Kamichu! is in all similar to it, it has all the thing that made it a great movie, it touches the Gods, spirits and other deities theme and a little girl trying to live with all this. The high production levels rivals with studio Ghibli, add the great characters and character design aided by the great animation and the lively background with great music and a good cast to give the final touch to a masterpiece. Every episode is a new rich adventure with Yurie and all of her friends in the middle, and they will make sure every ep ends with a smile on our face, and after u finish all the ep you will feel like watching it al over again, and latter to be re-watch yet again…

The next review is heavy in spoilers; the story contains information that might spoil at least half the story and it might continue down to the character development.
I advise anyone who might not have watched the anime yet to skip these two parts as it might ruin their experience enjoying this anime… Story: Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is the story of Haruka Suzumiya, Takayuki Narumi and Mitsuki Hayase, the tragedy that will happen in the future and the drama the characters will have to live after the tragedy… It all starts with Haruka Suzumiya falling in love with Takayuki Narumi one day, but due to her shyness, ... Mitsuki Hayase, Haruka’s best friend introduces herself to Takayuki in order to carry her best friends love to takayuki, along with Shinji Taira, the 4 form a group off great friends. Latter Haruka confesses her love to Takayuki, who accepts her feelings after some time of walking together, and start seriously dating, but during these happy times for the two, Mitsuki starts to appear between them, as she also starts to develop feelings for Takayuki. One day Takayuki and Haruka have a date and planed to meet in front of the station at 14:00, Takayuki is in a hurry to meet her, but finds Mitsuki while rushing and is asked to buy her a ring; it’s her birthday, after that Takayuki realizes he’s already late and runs to the station, in the meanwhile at 14:10 in front of the station Haruka waits, when arriving at the meeting point, Takayuki notices a huge commotion, there seems to have been a grave accident, when arriving at scene he notices Haruka was involved and is taken to the hospital, Takayuki is shocked with horrible accident… 3 years have passed Takayuki and Mitsuki are found together, they have changed and look adults now, it seems they are more than friends now, Latter we find that Haruka has been in coma for all this time without moving. What will happen when Haruka wakes from her deep slumber and realizes she passed the last 3 years of her life sleeping while the people close to her was betraying her, how will Takayuki and Mitsuki react when it happens, who will Takayuki chose in the end?? Characters: There are 3 main characters in the story Takayuki Narumi, Haruka Suzumiya and Mitsuki Hayase, 2 other important characters for the story Akane Suzumiya and Shinji Taira and 2 more side characters, not relevant to the story yet they add some fun to the show and present us with a little omake in the end of each ep starting from the 3rd, they are Ayu Daikuuji and Mayu Tamano. There are some other minor characters but not worth mentioning. And then there is the book, not a character, but plays one important role in Haruka’s life. Takayuki Narumi – He is the Main character in the story. Haruka as confessed her feelings to him, and after some initial troubles, they start a serious relationship until the day of the accident. After that he feels responsible for not meeting Haruka in time and falls into a depression which lasts one year. During this time he is barely living thanks to Mitsuki, but soon they start a relationship together leaving the past behind and forgetting Haruka. He has left the school and is now working at a familiar restaurant. During the next 2 years he lives happy with Mitsuki who often spends the night at his place and even plan to star living together. One day Haruka awakes and wants to see her lover, hearing the news Takayuki is troubled with his new situation with Mitsuki, and their relationship start to crumble. Takayuki’s problem is that he is to nice of a guy to handle his love for the two girls, trying not to hurt anyone tries to make right decisions usually hurting even more those around him. How will he solve his problems and who will he chose in the end?? Haruka Suzumiya – She is a shy girl who loves picture books and dreams to writer children books one day, er favourite book is Mayauru no Okurimono. Haruka falls is love with Takayuki Narumi, but since she doesn’t have the courage to approach him, asks for Mitsuki Hayase to help her. She confesses her love and they start dating like a normal couple. But one day while waiting for Takayuki is involved on a car accident and falls under a deep coma for over than 3 years. When she awakens, she isn’t aware of the passed time and continues call for Takayuki’s love without being aware of the sitution, some time after she is faced with the betrayal of her friends and her love, once a shy girl, Haruka is now strong and determined in her recuperation and pushes herself to the limit, because she never did it before and couldn’t continue that way. In the end will she be able to fully recover and be by the one she loves the most side?? Mitsuki Hayase – She is a strong swimmer, the best in school and is Haruka’s bet friend, initially she introduces herself to Takayuki, only to carry he friends love. Eventually she starts to like Takayuki and causes to delay theirs dates in 2 occasions, the second time is fatal. She meets Takayuki while he was rushing to the station where he would meet with Haruka, she encounters him and tells him it’s her birthday, she asks him to offer something and he offers him one ring, this fate encounter is what lead to the meeting delay that caused the accident, she thinks its her fault that Haruka is now in coma (in the game if Takayuki avoids the encounter there is no accident and Takayuki lives happy with Haruka forever), the ring symbolizes Mitsuki’s betrayal of her best friend. Latter she is helping Takayuki recovering from his depression, even dropping from the swimming competition; during one year she tries to suppress her feelings toward Takayuki, but one day she can’t hold those feelings anymore and reveals them handing her body to him, this lead to the end of Takayuki’s depression, but what will it cost in the future?? During the next 2 years their relation grows healthy, but only until Haruka’s wakening, Mitsuki confessed everything saying it wasn’t Takayuki’s fault, saying she was desperate and it could have been anyone, it just happened to be him, shocked Haruka slaps her in the face and tells her do disappear, this will lead to a new depression for both her and Takayuki, leading to their separation, in an act of desperation she ends up sleeping with Takayuki’s friend Shinji… What will happen to her from here one?? Akane Hayase – She is Haruka’s little sister and has as an idol and inspiration Mitsuki from who she learned. She is very direct to express what she feels causing sometimes embarrassment for the couple, her younger self looks more energetic and has a bitter tongue, but in the end cares a lot for her sister and Takayuki, seeing him as an older brother. After the accident, she is the only one too stay by Haruka’s side all the time, visiting her everyday. One day she discovers the relationship between Takayuki and Mistuki, this causes her pain, felling betrayed by her idol for dropping her talent and dream as a swimmer, and for her sister’s betrayal, now Aakane has a deep hatred towards Mitsuki and also feels betrayed by Takayuki. In the end she manages to continue to move on in her life and career as a great swimmer. Shinji Taira – He is Takayuki’s best friend and always hangs together, he is a good friend who will always be there for his friends, he is always worrying with his friend, trying to help him in his relationships and latter Mitsuki, in the end, out of desperation she sleeps with him. After tha Shinji goes to Takayuki trying to knock some sense into him and ends beating him. Other than this he doesn’t have much influence… Ayu Daikuuji and Mayu Tamano – They are the 2 maids that work on the same place as Takayuki, the Sky Tenple. They mostly provide some comic relief and peace of mind to Takayuki. The duo also stars in the omake in the end of every ep, the "Ayu-Mayu Theater". Ayu is a Hot-headed lousy mouth always bossing around and causing troubles to Takayuki or planning his downfall, she always ends up being scolded by him. But in the end she cares for him and shows his serious side, it appears she has lots of connections in the city, and in the end manages to find the Harukas’s book edited 4 years ago and can’t be found anywhere. Mayu, also known as Mayu-Mayu is like Ayu’s sidekick, always plotting something against Takayuki. She is soft spoken well meaning and a klutz, other than that there is nothing else to her character and no relevance t the story at all. The book - Mayauru no Okurimono (Mayauru’s gift/present). This book is Haruka’s favorite one, by reading; it’s easy to figure why. This book is the responsible for her first meeting with Takayuki in the library, the instant she fell in love with him. The story of the book is beautiful yet sad, and tells the story of their meting. The moment Haruka is telling the story is the most sad moment of the anime capable of leaving some tears left to the ones o hear it, it plays this important role in the story, Haruka wishes to have this book, but the book seems to be a rarity and no one is capable of finding it, only Takayuki with a copy bought in the day of the accident and latter with Ayu’s help will manage to find other copy Mayauru the fairy lost her memories and was living alone on a hill in the forest. By a chance, a lone girl went there and they become friends. The girl called many others and they all became friends and played, but... because Mayauru wasn't human, she aged more slowly. The children grew bigger and bigger... and forgot about Mayauru. In the end, the only remaining was the girl she met first. But... that girl became an adult and couldn't play with Mayauru anymore. Even so, after becoming an adult, that girl couldn't completely forget about Mayauru... and came again... And then Mayauru gave the lonely looking girl a present. Words of farewell. Up until then, humans didn't know parting words... Mayauru was a fairy of farewells. She was forgetting that... and that's why she had only goodbyes. The girl, now an adult, learned the words of farewell from Mayauru. Knowing the words of farewell, that girl... she was able to become the kindest person in the world... Animation: The animation in KGNE is good, nothing like we can find on certain animes, but does a great job here. All the character are nicely portrayed and detailed, the girls are given more detail than the males here, with more colorful clothing and eyes, also their faces look less sharp than in the guys, also the girls hair looks quite good here with some fluid movement in more active scenes. 3 years latter, the changes undergone by the characters is quite evident, everyone looks realistically older, the body proportions are correct for the age and there are even some hairstyle changes in some characters like Mitsuki who cut her hair, this symbolized her change into an adult women, the guys also look more mature, Akane is no longer the cute little girl she was and as turned into a more mature teenager. Haruka also changes a lot, her hair grow during 3 years without being cut and is now really long, her face is different, and her hands look the hands of a old women, the changes one would expect a person to undergo while sleeping all that time. The background animation is mostly in the city, but displays good colors with blue sky and some green here and there, the city is also filled with busy people living their live, sometimes stumbling against the characters, enough detail is given to them make them more distinguishably. To the end, the animation starts to get darker, often we see the characters on rainy day trying to solve their problems, and as Takayuki starts to work until later, a good part of the action takes part at night, sometimes with the addition of rain. Half of the last ep is passed during the sunset near the beach, with the animation acquiring an orange ton of color. Overall a good work. Opening animation – Both first 2 and last episodes don’t have an op, only from the 3rd to the 13th ep there is an op, this op shows all of the relevant character to the story in various scenes, and shows both before and after of this characters. Animation wise it might be a little better than overall animation… Ending animation – From ep 3 to 13, the animation here takes a different way from the op, showing only still shots zooming out of the group of 4 best friends under the Starry Sky (the music playing in background is Hoshizora no Waltz (The Waltz of the Starry Sky)) watching the stars. The last ed shows some images from before the accident where the friends are having fun and scenes of the present a few years latter where we see the characters leading their lives, during this we see Akane reading the book her sister witted and tells its story (this book seems to portrait the group of 4 friends, and hopes one day the can all meet again), we also see Takayuki passing by a bookstore and notices the book Haruka writted, he enters the shop and probably buys it; A much older Akane appears in some journals as a great athlete; Next shows Mitsuki with an happy face but crying. The last scene’s are the hill where Haruka confessed her love and a photo of the 3 friends before the accident. Te end is quite beautiful showing only happy moments yet it leaves a sad impression on the viewer… As a side note, the omake that plays each ep instead of a regular preview, is entirely in chibi form, except from some scenes that might show on a tv. Sound: Music – The music in KGNE sounds good, it always manages to blend with the moment, there are moments where the music is just left out, as it isn’t required sometimes, sometimes when the characters are alone, just thinking or other less important scenes there is no background music. In some scenes, mostly in the sad moments the music changes to a soft piano melody, the piano plays the most important role in the music; the saddest music is played on the final moments. During happy or comic moments, the music changes to a different tune to match the action. Overall the music blends nice with the mood, and sometimes it’s easy to go unnoticed while paying attention to what’s happening. OP – As I mentioned before ep 1,2,14 don’t have an OP, in the first 2 only a light piano music is played while the ep starts, in the last ep again only a soft music is played while the ep starts, this time played on a Synthesizer. The real op is the one that plays from ep 3-13, "Precious Memories" by Minami Kuribayashi, she is Haruka’s seyuu, this song is a normal pop song, but the lyric is very good feting for the show. ED – There are 3 ED themes, Rumbling Hearts" also by Minami Kuribayashi is the first and plays on ep 2 right after the accident, this one I think both song and lyric match well the drama here and the change that will occur in the story. "Hoshizora no Waltz (The Waltz of the Starry Sky)" by Minami Kuribayashi, here the music is more soft and gentle, together with the lyric it blends perfectly with the Ed animation and the story. "Kimi ga Nozomu Eien" by MEGUMI, this is a happy and gentle song played during happy times, all of the sadness has gone, and once again a great lyrics tells the story of a girl who has overcome many obstacles and sadness in her life, but in the end she was alone. Voice acting – Here a superb work was done by everyone, always displaying the characters feelings the best way and maturing the voices as the characters also matured. Overall: This anime is one of the best of its kind, with an excellent and realistic story, great characters, support characters also did they job supporting the anime, nice music and animation; everything was great. If u are just starting to watch this anime, prepare for a rollercoaster of emotions, once you start watching it you are part of the cast, it feels like you are there sharing those moments with them. Prepare yourself, this is sad, and u if u have the courage it should be watched again, as for me, I fell I was actually there after watching it over again… Authors note: I spent a lot of time writing this review, looking at the internet for interesting information, spending time reviewing some important scenes and episodes, listening to Mayauru no Okurimono while watching this sad moment and transcribing the story, watching all the sad moments over and over again. Writing this review while thinking on the anime and trying to convey my experience to a piece of digital paper, made me realize even better how great the anime is and how sad, how much those peoples suffered, and even tough it doesn’t pass from some draws of pure fiction passing onscreen, it managed to make me feel the characters lives like if they were real people… In the end I thank u for staying with be trough the adventure this review is. I hope you enjoyed reading it as I did writing…

Elfen Lied
(Anime)
add
Recommended
The first minutes of this anime are of pure gore and horror, the introduction to the anime and the main character will certainly have some impact in anyone, the first appearance of Lucy shows her on confined cage specially designed to contain her, but then some careless guards commit a mistake ending death by her ands and she manages to get free, slaughtering anyone who crosses her way with an immense bloodbath, showing us how week Human’s are...
The title of 'Elfen Lied' was probably taken from the German song 'Elfenlied' by Eduard Mörike (1804-1875). The song plays on the similarity between the words for 'elf' ... and 'eleven', and takes place at eleven o'clock. Elfenlied (lit. "elf song") is a poem written in German by Eduard Mörike that was adapted into a lied by Hugo Wolf. Gukuk! Translation: At night in the village the watchman cried "Eleven!" (A pun: "Elfe" can also mean "elf") A very small elf was asleep in the wood - just at eleven! - And he thinks that the nightingale must have called him by name from the valley, or Silpelit might have sent for him. (Silpelit is a character's name from an opera of Mörike's, "Eduard auf dem Seil") So the elf rubs his eyes, comes out of his snail-shell house, and is like a drunken man, his nap was not finished; and he hobbles down, tip tap, through the hazel wood into the valley, slips right up to the wall; there sits the glow-worm, light on light. "What are those bright windows? There must be a wedding inside; the little people are sitting at the feast, and fooling around in the ballroom. So I'll just take a peep in!" Shame! he hits his head on hard stone! Well, elf, had enough, have you? Cuckoo! Cuckoo! Story: The diclonius, are Human mutants, may well be the next step in human evolution. The diclonius have horns and strong telekinetic powers represented by "arms". However with this great power, they can easily destroy the human race. Fearful of their power, humans quarantined the diclonius into secret research facilities to study. However, in a freak accident, a enraged female diclonius escaped, killing many guards in the process. Interesting enough, the female escapee appears to have suffered amnesia after her escape and floated to Yuigahama of Kamakura city. There, she meets two people named Kouta and Yuka, who name the female diclonius "Nyuu", and decide that they all should live together. What will happen from this point has other characters will appear trying to get Lucy, and how will Kouta and Yuka live with an assassin monster?? The story, is quite interesting, this anime is not all about fanservice and violence, its horror scenes carry a punch, but so do its romantic and dramatic aspects, has the anime progress we will now that some of the characters are related to each other, Kouta and Lucy have meet before during their childhood, maybe because he cared for her that time lucy did not harm him, but he had lost his memories due to one accident related to Lucy. The story covers almost every taboo, from incest to child abuse to infanticide. Love, Hate, Humility, Affection, all emotions were expressed in the brilliant storyline. There are a few mysteries in the story, who helped Lucy (the killer personality) get loose, since she couldn’t have escaped on her own, and why? What is the connection that Kohta and Lucy seem to have? And why didn’t Lucy harm Kurama, when she brutally killed everyone around him in one scene? The back story about how Lucy/Nyu is a Diclonius (essentially a human mutant) whose reproductive potential threatens the existence of humanity, The ending was very daring and challenges the audience to think. Animation: The animation of this anime is really well done, with a good artwork, the backgrounds are vividly detailed, and so are the characters, the integration with everything is really good, the fight scenes are smoothly and the deaths realistic enough. The op art is great, there is a certain amount of fanservice, as Lucy is portrayed naked during the op, the op art feats the anime mood really well, the images of the opening animation borrow liberally from the imagery of the paintings of Gustav Klimt (1862-1918), particularly his most famous painting, "The Kiss" (1907/1908, currently in Vienna, in the Österreichische Museum für Angewandte Kunst). Music: The music for Elfen Lied is great; the musical score helps the anime work. As the anime starts we get to hear the magnificent op song Lilium, its sung in Latin by Kumiko Noma, an unknown name on the anime scene, she has the perfect voice to sung it, the music is like a church hymn that feats the op art great. The text of the OP theme is the "Beatus vir", an excerpt from the Latin Vulgate edition of the Bible. The passage is from James 1: "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him." The OP lyrics also include Psalm 36:30 (“Os iusti meditabitur sapientiam et lingua eius loquetur iudicium" = “The mouth of the just shall meditate wisdom: and his tongue shall speak judgment), the trope chant "Kyrie Fons Bonitatis" ("Kyrie, ignis divine, pectora nostra succende, ut digni pariter proclamare possimus semper, eleison" = “Lord, divine fire, inflame our hearts, so that together we may worthily proclaim forever: have mercy”), and the medieval sequence hymn "Ave Mundi Spes Maria" (“Oh, quam sancta, quam serena, quam benigna, quam amoena esse virgo creditur” = Oh how holy, how serene, how benign, how delightful is this maiden who believed!"). All four pieces can be found in the album “Chant” by the famous Benedictine Monks of the Santo Domingo de Silos Monastery, and it’s a fair guess that’s where the composers lifted the lyrics from. The main theme has in fact three parts winch appear at various points throughout the series both as an instrumental piece and with a Gregorian chorus, sets the tone for the whole, the op single that was release is a mix of these 3 parts. The music during the rest of the anime will complement each situation, making each scene richer. The ed theme is more like a j-pop/rock music, and is completely different from the op… Characters: The character are all pretty good, even thought they may share similarities with other animes, they belong to elfin lied, and each one has his personality and look, also they are greatly drawn and animated. Lucy is well-portrayed, she has double personality: Lucy is genuinely scary and strong willed, while Nyu is the lovable simpleton. Both of them look so different, despite being the same person. The characters either look cute and innocent, or they look dangerous and disturbed. It`s easy to tell the difference; the hard part is diagnosing what she will do with whoever she encounter. Lucy was a nice girl until being constantly picked on and seeing other children murder her best friend, a puppy. Eventually, after going back and forth so much Nyu and Lucy begin to become the same in that Lucy becomes nicer, depending on the humans around her, and Nyu is speaking more Japanese and remembers more memories. Both personalities are both in love with Kouta. Nana: Despise her cute look sweet personality, she has a terrible past of experiments and suffering, Nana loves and obeys her father who caused her immense suffering that she could bear because of that love toward him. She ends up losing in combat against Lucy, and ends up in Kouta’s house. Mariko: Mariko is a young diclonius girl, roughly 5-7 years old. She is the most powerful diclonius in captivity. Her telekinetic powers are incredibly, and she has 26 vectors with a range of at least 11 meters each. She is the perfect example of why diclonius should be feared. When Lucy and Nana have their moments of peace, Mariko loves to hurt, and is extremely homicidal and sadistic. She was raised inside a huge container, and once she is freed, the destruction and death follow her side by side, destroying everything on her path. Mariko is the Real daughter of the doctor. Mayu: She has a sad past, she was abandoned by her mother and sexually abused by her step-father, from which she run away. She later ends up in the care of Kouta and Yuka, they legally adopted her. She also makes friends with Nana and Nyu, and don’t want the two to fight. Kouta: He has inherited the Inn where all the main characters gather. He remembers very little about his childhood when he used to play with his cousin Yuka, and the events surrounding his father and little sister deaths. He tries to take care of all the girls who come into his life, and does a good job with seeming too perverted. He treats Nyu like a little sister, though Yuka seems to get jealous of them at times. Yuka: She is Kouta's cousin, and old childhood friend. He inherited an Inn and shortly into the series she moves in with him to watch over the others that are going to stay there as well. She seems to remember more about her childhood than Kouta does, as well as falling in love with him. This also means she gets jealous of the attention Nu gives Kouta. Value: The production levels, the art, the music, the story and the characters, everything on the anime is great, and will make most of the viewers love this anime, of course the high level of gore and fanserviçe might not appeal to everyone, reason why some will think Elfen Lied is overrated and one might think it could be better rated. Enjoyment: When I got the first ep I did know nothing about Elfen lied, and once I started watching it, I was surprised with the great op, I thought it was really a beautiful op with a great music, but after the op those next 7m really caught me on surprise, looking all that gore, fanservise and deaths made me think, what where those guys thinking, everyone will be caught by the beginning of the show, and that’s when people will think if they should stop there or if they want to see what’s going to happen next. Overall: Either you love it or hate it This is a high rated anime that has won many prizes, like the prize for best drama, thriller, op/ed, fanserviçe, and female character. It’s among my favorites animes. Now its up to you!!
