Slayers has always been a great series to follow, with plenty of loyal fans. Its spanned three series, five movies, and two different three episode OVA series. Following, as always, the great sorceress Lina Inverse.
Premium is unique in that it is the only movie that has Gourry, Amelia, and Zelgadis; who are Lina's companions during the three series; as opposed to Naga, a friend/rival of Lina's from the OVA's. Naga does make a breif cameo, marking one of the few (if only) times Naga and the rest of Lina's friends are in the same series.
The story is a bit silly, with some town famous for
...
its seafood having the octopus that live in the acompanying bay decide they have had enough. All in all, its not as epic as the series tend to be (with the world hanging in the balance), and not as humorous and character developing as the OVA's tend to be, but seems on Par with the other movies in the slayers franchise.
Art and Sound are typical of the Slayers media, so if you have seen other parts of the series you should generally know what to expect. A bit outdated by todays standards, but still generally clean and well animated.
As far as character goes, this movie dosn't offer much in the way of development. However you do get to see all of the characters you know and love (even if Naga's appearance is... very breif), but if this is your first piece of Slayers media you may be a bit lost.
This movie was quite enjoyable for fans, and fits in nicely between the second and final series. Overall, this is a good diversion from the series, with some quality bits of humor for a fan. If you are a first time Slayers watcher, its probably best to start with 'Slayers' the first series.

Furi Kuri, or FLCL, is an interesting watch, and luckily a short one.
I'm not saying its bad, quite the opposite in fact. But the pace of FLCL is so fast that it fit into six episodes a story that could have easily gone 13, if not 26.
If you aren't really paying attention FLCL can seem to be the kind of anime that is completely random, such as Excel Saga. In actuality it has a decent storyline and most of the scenes make sense, but you really have to keep up with whats going on to reach that point.
The art style is quite good. During
...
the action scenes it gives off an added sense of fluid motion that most anime lack. However there are no real times when the effects wowed me or anything, and the majority of the animation is just like most other anime.
The soundtrack for FLCL is from The Pillows and I really must say, their songs make the action scenes in this anime twice as good. I'm not too much of a music person, but just in writing this review the song that plays during most of the action scenes is popping into my head and giving me the feeling that something actiony should be happening about now.
I do have to say, FLCL did a fantastic job on keeping its characters memorable. Haruko in particular is the type of character you just don't forget once you watch the series. However, 'unforgettable' and 'likeable' aren't necessarily the same thing. Maybe it was because there wasn't really a character I identified with in the series, but I didn't find myself drawn to anyone specific.
FLCL's major flaw would be its pacing. I already stated about how you have to be paying attention or it seems random, and this is exactly what I'm talking about. I don't like an anime to force me to be attentive at every moment or I'll miss the big picture.
Overall, its good for a watch through. Or if you blink, maybe two or three so you understand whats going on.

Shuffle is a harem anime with a mix of Angels and Demons, that really peaks ones interests... at first.
The anime starts off innocently enough, theres the required single male character, and a plethora of female leads who all want him to be theirs. Typical Harem stuff. One of the girls is a childhood friend, one is a mutual friend of him and the childhood friend, one is the daughter of the king of the demons, one is the daughter of the king of the angels, and one is an off limits loli choice with a spoiler background.
During the first half of the series or so
...
the show is typical in its course of harem, having funny situations with the occasional serious bit of romance going on.
Then the main character makes his choice as too which girl he likes.
The other girls don't take it so well, with one of them becoming mentally unbalanced due to his choice. The series rapidly falls from typical yet funny, to overly emotional and bad. I do like some emotion in my anime, but when the conflict between characters becomes so over the top that that actually attack one another... in a romance anime? No thank you.
Overall, it had a decent begging, but a horrible ending that killed it. If it went on as it was in the begging, I couldn't foresee anything special happening that would have pushed it up to being a stand out anime, it was forced to be one of the average rated harems for all time, but then it had to go and mess that up on itself, ending up on the bad side of things.
I'd say most of us have better things to watch.

I really don't understand the raving about this series. D.N.Angel has a typical anime plot, and executes it poorly.
The story starts out typically enough, based on the first two episodes it could have really been something good. Young boy who is a high school student by day, and a paranormal thief by night.
Its just that the storyline itself develops slowly and never really built up much interest. The actual stealing was a bit interesting, in the style of Lupin the Third, but in the end D.N.Angel just fails to deliver.
I'm not sure on the English dub, but I must say that the Japaneses voice acting
...
cast for this series is probably one of the worst I have ever heard. The leading female was alright, but the main characters voice often lacked emotion completely. If the line was about how he was in great danger he would almost sound like he was being sarcastic because of how lacking his voice was in the sense of that danger.
I'm not saying D.N.Angel is a bad anime. Remember, 5 is an average score. However, why watch a 5 when there are still unwatched 8's 9's and 10's?

Baccano! was an interesting experience about a large number of passengers on a train. By the time the train reaches its destination, a fairly large amount of blood has been spilled on it.
Without giving too much away, I'll say that there is a bit of a flare for the supernatural in this work. Its not overbearingly so, but it works itself in in a way that it could potentially exist in our world because it remains hidden, which is a quality I quite like in supernatural media.
The story itself is very nicely done. It reminded me a bit of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya in
...
that the story is told all over the place instead of in logical order, by means of several flashbacks. The actual events on the train itself go in order, and are quite interestingly developed.
What really stood out for me were the characters in this series. From the loveable idiot thief pair of Issac and Miria, to the crybaby Jacuzzi and his love Nice, to the deadly Railtracer, all the characters have unique personalities that draw the viewer in. While some characters did get more attention than others, with a cast as large as Baccanos this tends to be expected.
The general style of the animation fit the theme, and I quite liked the feel it gave off. Its seemed just a bit more fluid than an average anime, especially in the opening theme. Having mentioned the opening theme, I would like to point out that the song Baccano opens to has to be one of my favorite anime theme songs.
In the end, this was really an enjoyable watch. However, if you aren't a fan of action or blood there are probably much better things for filling your time, but if you do enjoy them, you should definitely give this series a chance.

Interstella is not your average anime movie. The main reason for this, its really a long music video with a storyline.
Thats not to say the storyline is bad, or it lacks developed characters, it actually has them. Maybe not the greatest story ever told, and without dialog its hard to have the characters develop too much, the the movie manages.
In fact, I believe that if this wasn't a music video it could have been much better. Much of what the characters were thinking and feeling could be assumed by the situation and music, but the characters did seem one dimensional because of this. The actual
...
plot line seemed to have some interesting background, but this background never gets fleshed out, and it could have been with the vocalization of some thoughts.
Being a music video, there needs to be some music, and it really is quite a good soundtrack if you like Daft Punk, I had only heard a few of there more popular songs before this movie, but I enjoyed it fairly well. There were a few spots in the movie I felt that the music and the animation weren't really matched to each other very well, but those moments were few and far between so I'll let them slide.
Overall, I'd say this is a great movie if you want to combine a love for music and anime together, and probably a must watch for any anime loving Daft Punk fan. However for the rest of us, there are probably better movies to consume your time.

Golden Boy is... interesting.
Its in essence, an ecchi. However, I feel that the underlaying background story and characters of the show were very well written, just the ecchi got in the way a little too much. If Golden Boy was just Kintarou going from place to place and helping people without his sex drive constantly getting in the way I feel it could have been a much better series.
Kintarou himself is a very interesting and great character. You expect most characters in ecchi anime like this one to fit in a specific role, dumb and honest, smart and sly, ect. At first Kintarou comes off
...
as the dumb honest type, who wants to try and prove himself in various fields to impress woman, but constantly fails, which he does do. But Kintarou is a very intellegent person, who seems to have the skill of learning things that take most people years to accomplish in a matter of weeks. Too bad in the end hes always trying to use those skills to impress a girl.
...or is he? Kintarou always starts off with the seeming motivation to impress a female of choice, but if he does manage to get that girl to come around and like him, he inevitably runs away before any romance can develop. Which leads me to think all this 'impress the girls' plot is just something Kintarou is trying to see how various woman react to various situations, something given his brains I could see him doing.
Overall, the ecchi really got in the way of what could have been a great story, but its still worth at least one watch though IMO.
