While there are many complaints, I believe Goblin Slayer should be watched before discrediting it based on other reviews. If you are accustomed to gore, this show may be to your liking. However, if you can't handle the idea of rape or seeing an animation suggesting it, this may not be your cup of tea.

While all the other characters treat the world like a fantasy, Goblin Slayer accepts the harsh realities and acts efficiently. The main character is static which may not be to everyone's liking. However, the anime does well to flesh out how narrow minded Goblin Slayer's character is with his single ... purpose. This characterization helps us see the true state of their world rather than the superficial adventure that most seek; his narrow view is more eye-opening than the just-for-fun adventurers. Like a knight, GS strictly performs his actions and does nothing without reason. As the story progresses, GS's view of the world seeps into the eyes of his companions and those who have fallen victim to the monsters. It's kill or be killed. The naive quickly become enlightened to the harsh reality as their closest companions are torn apart, their blood splattering as they're beaten in despair. The cold gripping truth shows no sympathy to anyone. To survive in such a cold world, one must be cold as well.
