This anime is like your old, grouchy, possibly racist grandpa. He's very depressing to watch, and he doesn't tell always tell you the you what you want to hear, but he does tell you what you NEED to hear.
The MC is the male protag of an NTR series, so needless to say, he's a little bitch. Even after seeing his childhood friend/potential gf get her holes drilled by a bunch of old men, he still doesn't confess to her. Because he convinces himself that it will all be all right. That in the end he will end up with her because "true love will
...
always prevail". However, in this series it never does, because he never takes action to make it happen.
So many modern day rom-coms have MC's that never take action, because they're too shy/scared/awkward, and yet they still end up with the girl. But this series says "no, FUCK YOU, unless you take charge and make the move on the you love, than you will likely end up sad and alone", and we could all learn from that.
This all circles back to our old racist grandpa. He may be an asshole, and he may deliver everything he says with a mountain of salt. But we could all learn a thing or two from him, and this, is one of those things.
