Hmm. This show is a lot. A mixed bag. The mixiest of bags. After watching all 10 episodes in one sitting one thing is certain. This show has got some of the best and the worst when it comes to the animation genre. As it is very much a mystery it is hard to judge whether it is more of the good or of the bad yet anyway.
The animation for one is disappointingly juxtaposed to the density of the plot, the vast amount of fresh fantasy elements and the theme rich soundtrack. It is not exactly horrible, but unfortunately an action oriented show. The aforementioned
...
bad is of the kind that makes the watch only enjoyable for people who have watched - kind of - enough well animated shows and are maybe craving a more creative story telling, a multi faceted world and many mysteries to uncover instead.
Of that this show got an awful lot. The first five episodes are a literal fountain of ideas scattered all around the place. And i personally found it to be a rather pretty kind of fountain. Characters with death flags waving all around them, unlikable ones, have complete turn-arounds to being protagonists, heroes and positively divine beings turn out to be somberly shaded.
Thus this show ultimately begs the question: is the writing good enough to hold the show together despite it's faulty animation and extremely short runtime? Or is it overly ambitious and penned by novice in the field? Is the show just an uncoordinated mess of a mystery that will never make sense, are the many fantasy gimmicks just a diversion and are the narrative stakes bloated out of proportion?
The answer to this can not yet be given but pndered. Had the animation been at least twice as good, and some character designs just a bit less "edgy" we probably would like to lean more towards the former. Had it been a lot less creative with the many fantasy ideas it conjured up, we would've easily identified it as the latter.
Overall this show was a fun watch. And it would raise my standards for upcoming fantasy shows, but unfortunately much of the emotional load couldn't be fully delivered, as this adaptaion might've ultimately not gotten the runtime, it required to introduce 10 different characters (of which some of them die off screen believe it or not).
Before going into the afterword there has to be some light shed onto the soundtrack. Not being the prettiest or best of all time is a given. Though it is not exactly lacking at all either. At many times it is surprisingly fitting and accompannying certain plot developments with high success. Furthermore it comes with the added benifit of being pretty novel to the ear. There is also some serious sopranist action going on. Arguably, the music feathers some of the burden the animation fails to carry and the sheer quality at times, can make one wonder, whether this anime actually maybe came to be because of the soundtrack and not the other way around.
On an endnote i just want to say that i don't rate shows on a very logical basis but by the feels. As the show has given me a lot of excitement i will look into a second season, should that be a thing sometime. But the animation was so bad and the writing feels like it's drifiting into full european mode at any time now, i will carefully rate this show a 6/10 as of yet. Should the continuation expand the mystery and improve at least a bit on the animation i might come back to kick it up a bit.

Out of Vivi's fluorite song and this the first one is probably the one with the rounder package. This show still offers a lot of interesting sci fi ideas and ultimately it is sad to see that the studio didn't have the time or budget to flesh out some of the animations. That really takes a dip towards the end of the season.
The rating for this show absolutely surprises me. The story might not be told in the most efficient way but it is an actual story, delivered with great music and actually decent animation when it matters most. Some things i would personally criticize
...
are ceratin .. "coincidences" which stack on top of each other towards the end but it is so little, you can actually just ignore it.
One thing i'll implement here is that i don't like the argument of many reviews about the first episode being confisuing as hell. That is just straight up ignorant because if anything, the show builds greatly upon the happenings of that episode. So much so that you expect a bit more out of the anime towards the end.
One criticism i absolutely agree with but also excuse for the producing studio with the arguments i opened up with, is that the story feels a bit rushed overall. There is a nice emotional growth happening in multiple layers and you are kind of expected to just go with it even though only very few scenes actually establish this growth and development.
Overall metallic rouge is a much better watch for someone who can get behind subtle character development.

Starts pretty great, looses drive and focus towards the end and becomes the generic yuri bait bad action animation generic jokes generic show generic everyone become friends that it tried so hard no to be at the start. Kinda disappointed in the outcome of this one ngl.
Just so this becomes a valid review in Myanimelists repertoire.. and whilst i'm at it let me spoil some stuff just to tell you how bad some of the writing decisions are here:
I mainly want to talk about the MC, Komarin. Komarin is this really cute vampire that has the most powers in a world literally ruled by the
...
powerful, of which there are many, but there is a twist: her knowledge of her powers are supporessed. She literally thinks she's got no powers at all and thus has to go about problems by resorting to peaceful and communicative solutions.
To add things on top of that she is also of royal blood and shall govern the nation of the vampires, lead an army batallion to prove her strength and strive towards world domination. With all these obligations what would she do if not shut herself in?
Now if that doesn't sound like a promising synopsis... There are even more interesting things about Komarin you can learn about in this show. As she was oblivious to her abilities but always has a strong sense of justice she would stand up to injustice in school. One day by defending a victim of bullying, that bully acquires a new target: Komarin. You see, Komarin is actually a traumatied kid. She was bullied and belittled by a girl with magical powers and Komarin wouldn't be able to defend herself. She was even beaten to unconsciousness.
Another trauma that is a little indirect but what would influence her overall personality quite a bit... is the following. Let me take you back to a statement from before: Her knowledge of her powers is not only unpresent at the moment. She doesn't have to "find" that knowledge or discover magic. It is "suppressed". It is not shown in full detail but her parents literally appear to have hypnotized Komarin into thinking she hated drinking blood as a vampire which, is the trigger to activate her insane magical powers. And everytime she does drink blood by accident, she immediately forgets everything about what happened during her awakened state. She is actually consistently so very casual about transforming that it is still a point of interest to me after the end of the season but anyway i digress.
Komarin has the actual untrust of her parents, with her very underpowered self in the high magic society to deal with. Furthermore there are childhood traumas as a burden.
Now the show establishes all these things . These are also the most intricate things that are established at all. These are some very potent issues that could be transformed into a story to a very dramatic extent. But well there end the good news for anyone who likes themselves an adult and multilayered story.
You see this fantasy world is actually a joke. Everyone is immortal and wars are led for fun. Bullies and meanies and vilains are actually just the most pittiful people from the get go and very little must be done to convince them to be good to each other, which just amounts to not attacking the person in front of you on sight essentially. Also some plot lines are based on the fact that harm was done to these "vilains" but then theres many comedic minutes of runtime from start to end where soldiers slaughter each other with the biggest smiles on their faces. Like is there pain in that world now or not?? This show does not choose a road. It's always the one of the other.
The moment that komarin transforms it is always in a dire situation. Her friends are in shambles, she was sometimes beaten to. She just proceeds to kill her enemies as they did to her comrades. She is less of that cure for a world of violence by speech and friendship that they are aming for by ridding her of her powers, but more of actually just a boulder the story can put in front of a conflict to very crudely end a story arch.
Komarins traumas are actually completely unexplored all the way until the end of the first season.
What this show does, is establishing many things but not following up on any of it. Overcoming her traumas is a topic that absolutely is avoided by the show. At the start of the season to comedic effect, but you can't bring out 12 episodes of a show without every diving into your characters emotional potential. (To be fair they need time to establish some of the things i mentioned but they could just so easily speed up that process. Komarin is not that intricate of a character)
Komarin also builds an entourage of girls kinda "yuri bait"-ingly gushing over her who are such generically animated buffoons. You kinda end up praying that at some point one will make some serious advances on her. Some ACTUAL romance can go long ways for your story and guess what might make your show a little more popular. I know its probably mostly based on a mid LN or manga that relies on these romance bait tropes, but man i can't imagine directors animating this with so little creativity that they can't add a few things around the story they're given.
I would've loved to see Komarin bounce off a potential female lover to gain strength and resolve instead of generating it out of this uber rock solid foundation that is her anwavering emotional stability. Which could've so easily been challenged and thrown over, considering the emotional instability she should carry with her.
Anyway there must be a reason i watched this show. Maybe it was hope. I think i really liked Komarins character.. and was disappointed by the story surrounding her and the generic bb female characters around her.

This show is fantastic. Don't let them tell you otherwise. The name tells you a lot of what to expect here. It's a very emotionaly complex anime in a soft steam punk dark fantasy genre. Not quite the best at anything as of yet. But the thrills are absolutely there which makes it a highly enjoyable detective show in my book. Undead has very high "sit on the edge of your seat potential".
If there is one thing murder farce does pretty uniquely well it would probably be the pacing. To some it might appear slow at times. Your average "A crime presents itself. We solve
...
it in one episode and drive the relationships between the characters forward by a little bit" is what you'd expect. Instead there are some episodes moving slower through a case than it needs to. The spare time is spent establishing many side characters personalities. And oh as we all know the key to a good story is that you can understand and reflect the decisions of it's cast.
To sum it up: Undead Girl murder Face is very well written and directed. This story is surrounded by cynicism, dimness and bitterness but is also full of entertainment.

The rating for this show doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Watch at least until episode 6 to get a good feeling about the shows flair.
The dialogues and decisionmaking of the characters are unusually down to earth at times, the animation is mid but ramps up quite considerably in some important moments (up to ep 10) and overall i must say that the underlying plot is actually highly thrilling. Entangled with the main plot surrounding the MC, the show establishes the potential for a lot of growth for the main characters, which is more than a welcome trait in a modern day
...
shonen anime. They tend to all be just uber powerfull nowadays. It's nice to have some variety.
There is one negative which might develop itself into a positive or turn the show unrecommendable. Keyword harem. Up till now it's still just friends everywhere but there is just flat out too much romance around the MC. That is not only annoying because it takes away so much from the immersion (and thus the abovementioned down to earth aspect of the show) but also from the protagonists character/personality. Right now he's on the verge of being an edgelord but he might actually also turn out varied and interesting.

There's no way the show can keep up with the level of energy the ep 0 - so to say - brought to the table. Ofc coming from fate apocrypha and encore as the most recent entries this level of quality isn't necessarily surprising.. This show truly proves once again that fate IS that gift that keeps on giving. I personnaly don't even want to dare dream of a world where the hype of this first episode gets even surpassed by followig episodes. The future is looking rather bright with this one.
As some general information: characters are great as always, atmosphere is peak fate stuff.
...
The turning point comes towards the end of the episode when they suddenly decided to make possibly above one punch man level animations for an apetizer.

Intriguing characters and a unique mixture of different genres makes this anime a breath of fresh air in it's fellow isekai genre anime group.
Death play is howevery hugely held back by it's animations and shares an inherent weakness in having the setting be modern world tokyo: the world feels kinda .. "small" at times. Maybe less inherent when considering that this show doesn't set up any "big super end boss to defeat by season 6" perse.
Apart from those two things, dead mount really makes the best of everything that it is given. Isekai paired with mystery, magic and mafia, reincarnation and necromancy etc.
Definitely recommend watching
...
if you can turn a blind eye from time to time in the few action scenes and focus on what's actually hapening and everything that it consequently means.
The show does a great job at setting a plot up throughout it's runtime. I have heard bad things about this kind of storytelling in anime lately but i find that it just works so fine and this show is a good example of that. Every episode does stand well on it's own though. There are things happening and outside of the influence - of what would well be called - the protagonist at that. It is left to see, how much of a lasting impression the last epsiodes will manage to achieve.
Apart from the animation, there is also the unfortunacy, that this show gets cast a shadow upon by astoundingly good and breathtaking Anime like hell's paradise and heavenly delusions. Dead mount deathplay is probably the most valuable sleeper option of the season.

I could give this anime a 9.
This Review is mainly about all the .. well.. mediocre reviews by people who "pretend" to have watched all the episodes. How can i tell that they "pretend"? Well ez: they say things like "If you want something similar watch Saiki K." (Truthfully one of my most favorite and objectively best anime ever with some of the best Comedy in all of Media.)
The start: the anime starts out like Saiki K. It has an overpowered protagonist that doesnt want/need his power. At first mainly the animations hooked me to this point. It clearly does a worse job than Saiki
...
K. at establishing his character at this point of the story as Saiki as an example doesn't really need his power AT ALL. He is in a world of humans. He is also not a god but has just a plethera of abilities that just make his life boring. Yare yare..
But let me shock you all by making a 180° turn: this anime but shines in all the aspects Saiki K. just brutaly failed. To this conclusion i only came to after the 14. Episode of this anime.
To further make my point without spoiling too much i wan't to point out to what conclusion i came after talking about this show with a friend.
There are a lot of overpowered Main anime leads out there. Most of the people that watched this specific show will also probably have come across at least a handful of these. They all are similar in the way that the one super special girl is in love with the lead but he is just too motherf****** powerful for his life and just either doesn't care about his entourage bc his purpose is above their existence or his life - to which they belog - is just overall too boring. Btw the whamen is always in love with this neutral-hearted dud bc he just ignores her at first sight.
This anime starts out as exactly that. If it weren't for the tasty af animations up to the last 3 episodes one would probably not even stick around for that long.
That leads me to exactly .. the point that makes this Anime all the much better. Wait. for. it. In a way there IS a real similarity to Saiki K. That would be that it takes on it's genre fellows. But not in a comedic way as Saiki K does it .. or Gintama as the most iconic example .. but in a serious way. If i may throw this in: just as MAGIC GIRL MADOKA !! Also one of the objectively best and one of my favorite shows out there.
The essence of these anime is not something like overall insane Stories. It's not that they pull out a theme insanely well like what you'D say about GOT for example. No it's much rather that they manage to get.. serious. Serious and that not right off the bat .. but progressively.. rather surprisingly. Basically it's a to the ground taking unexpected turn of events that comes in an unexpected manner because it takes place in a genre where it's just so unusual. Actually numerous of my favorite and objectively best shows do something like that. Madoka, this anime, Re:Zero, overly cautious hero, Watchmen (the movie o b v i o u s l y). There are probably many i don't know, some i forget and of course, i leave out all the cemodic approach anime.
I don't want to stick around the point for any longer. But it is essential bc it is the reason some of the top comments just wont get in my head. How can one even COMPARE this anime to Saiki when it's approch is completely differen??
So now i just want to spill out a couple of amazing or a bit bugging things about the show in some flow without major reasoning about them or so:
the characters are decent which is even better for the climax, the audio is .. weird at best as it's often times not really ambient which jap anime seem to do a much better job at, the animations are too gorgeous - i could talk about some specific scenes which completely blew my mind as if it were a movie -, i very much enjoyed the kind of out of nowhere scientific approach the anime had from times to times (which further enhanced the serious aspect of the show and made even more.. close to the heart.. or feels.), the end feels weird in a way where you would expect a 2nd season but i very much doubt this shows has an even greater climax in store for us, the soundtrack is awesome but could be a bit less generic outside of the fight-scenes and last but not least i loved the anime but only after the 14th episode which can either mean that it was all the more great story telling (my opinion and.. pretty much indubitable) or you could make the point that it's maybe a bad thing because some of the audience might've dropped at that point.
If you red this all.. wow. I just wish one could comment down below the reviews whichever you want to debate on.. but eh. This might reach someone. Have yourself a wonderful day or whatever time :D.
