Fire force is pretty childish, like… there is a digimon sorta movement & vibe to it, however, it isn’t, it’s more like a total shonen teen aimed good natured, almost, R rated, yet, always hovering in jr. high, not quite getting its drivers license or ability to buy cigarettes & porno mags.
There’s a part of me that wishes it would enter R territory, but, it never really does; in fact, it digresses into middle school from time to time, the worst part is that the show often has a cold formulaic approach to story telling, which is my least favorite type of anime formula.
The
...
fire monsters are kiddy TV to the fucking core man, and, frankly stupid looking.
Despite its kiddy TV show looking aesthetic, it does have some pretty cool fire fighting excitement, if, you don’t have expectations, and, forget how formulaic the show really is, the animation is top notch, and, quite awe-inspiring.
The journey of Shinra “the hero” is less interesting, and quite frankly predictable in its pay off, that the action, and, cool animation, in the show far over shadows it’s subplot; if only Fire Force was a show like Slam Dunk or something, where there is no real main character, but, instead, a collection of characters, in this regard, a collection of fire fighters w/ super human powers, it’d be more likable, in my perhaps overly critical opinion.
The characters in the show are far more interesting and lovable than Shinra, and, are, at, times set aside, to, exasperate his relatively unimaginative and exceptive story.
As stated earlier in the review, Fire Force looks very good, the animation is overly slick, robustly stuffed, and, glossy.
The subtext animation and directed animation style honestly make this show worth watching.
Another aspect of the show that deserves praise is the way the infernos (and their tragic backstories) are represented, it adds a nice melancholy, and, humanistically sympathetic touch to the shows childish aesthetic, and, frankly it’s much needed for the the over inane thoughtlessness of Fire Forces morning cartoon aesthetic.
In my opinion, Fire Force is a show you watch to zone out, it’s a complete waste of time, it’s an activity you should have avoided if you desire an active and exciting life.
If you enjoy eating too much food, playing too much video games, and, generally being lazy, Fire Force is the show for you. No judgement man, I get lazy from time to time too, and, hell yeah I’ll watch Fire Force when that time comes’a knocking at my cranium door; after all, It is visceral predictable formulaic childish fun, and who doesn’t love that shit? And, who knows, I’m a pretty changeable guy, it might become my favorite anime some day, psh… as if.
