The show had a good premise and concept. I was excited after the first episode when I saw that it had some darkness to it when Ein jumped down the hole to escape the hell hounds. I thought it wouldnt be one of those overly bright and bubbly shows that only showed the world through a naive child who didnt understand anything.
But I was soon disappointed when I saw that Ein was such a weak minded crybaby. Theres a difference between being humble and respectful to those around you but Ein was fine with being a doormat. Even after he gained power. Which should be
...
a good thing. Dont let power go to your head. But this kid was so annoyingly weak minded about his situation.
Especially during his fight with Zoid after Zoid was transformed into a monster. Zoid has been nothing but a pos to him since they met.
He spends his entire time after everyone found out what he did to Ein in the dungeon, meat riding Ein. "If only he didnt exist" "He should have stayed a trash picker" "Its all his fault". Then gets manipulated into a monster without even considering that he might be getting used. Then he finds and tries to kill Ein and his friends in town and Ein is still acting like a little b**ch after Zoid as hurt him and his friends. "I cant hurt him. Even though hes a monster, hes still....."
Then he has the nerve to have a nervous breakdown DURING the fight. He snivels on the ground from thinking hes still the same weakling he used to be. "You will always be a trash picker' You're not strong, you've only gotten strength from your friends. You're still weak!" And that causes him to break down. That is just lazy writing to me. Giving the MC some inner turmoil to over come to try to give the MC and the story some depth but it had the opposite effect. It made me want to drop this show and find something with better story telling to watch.
Anime these days are alot like alot of the recent video games thats been released. Its just a bunch of mid content thats put out just to fill someone's work log. Theres no love or passion put into it. Its just putting anything out to get a quick check.
These recent anime take the bad sides of human nature and amplify them in an attempt to create some form of drama that some weak minded viewer might find relatable.
I know I sound jaded from an outside perspective but this comes from a long stretch of anime that seems to look like the team on the show just phoned it in. I miss good shows that are so weell done that it moves me and the last 10 or 15 shows ive tried are far off the mark.
