This show is simply amazing. Honestly I don't think I've really enjoyed a slice of life like this in a long time. It's a simple story about a 30 year old man suddenly becoming the guardian of a 6 year old girl under some weird circumstances. His life gets turned upside down and things he never really had to think about are suddenly very important. I don't think any show has captured early parenthood like this show.
Story: 9
The best analogy I can use for this show is like eating a bag of Warheads. It starts off sour (sad, depressing), but then you get to
...
the sweet center, and everything becomes very lighthearted. Then you eat another, and the cycle continues. It's a very well written and well paced show. With only 11 episodes you wouldn't think they would cover so much, but with the well placed time skips it honestly works really well. I guess the one thing I can complain about is that it ends kinda abruptly. I kinda want to know what happens with Kukei's mom and Daikichi and Rin's mom, too. It's one of those GO READ THE MANGA HURRDURR type endings. Whether or not it was budget cuts or simply not being given an opportunity for more episodes, it still kinda sucks. Kinda like Noragami. Or Blood Lad. Or Zombie Loan. You know, this actually happens a lot.
Art: 10
Now THIS is where this show excels. It has this pastel color pallet that's kinda childish and soft, which really fits the tone of the show. The animation is great for what it is and I never looked at the show and said, "Well I know where they cut their budget!" Like some shows *COUGH COUGH BOKURA GA ITA COUGH COUGH*
Sound: 9
I mean, there was this ONE instance where the audio for Daikichi's voice clipped because the actor screamed too loud into their mic, but other than that this show's sound is pretty nice. The music isn't too memorable but it fits the scenes ell enough. The opening song seriously reminded me of My Neighbor Totoro, honestly this entire show makes me want to go rewatch My Neighbor Totoro for the, like, millionth time.
Characters: 9
Daikichi is literally the embodiment of a 30 year old Japanese man, at least from everything I've read. He has a demanding job that keeps him at work late, goes out drinking with his coworkers, lives alone, no girlfriend or any intent to start a family. Having Rin enter his life literally changes everything and it's very interesting to follow along his slow decent into parenthood. The ONLY complaint I have for ANY character in this show is Rin, because at times she doesn't seem like a 6 year old. This is kinda a common occurrence in most anime/manga/and media in general so I can't really complain. I guess you can say she's mature because of everything that she's gone through but idk man. I could swear she was 10 sometimes.
Enjoyment: 10
I had so much fun watching this show. I can't explain it, it's just so cute yet so heartbreaking I feel like I can go on and on about how wonderful this show is. I feel like everyone should watch this. Not just because it's so good but also to maybe appreciate your parents just a little bit more. I mean, this show tends to strain the sacrifices that parents make to raise their children, and it doesn't do it in such a way where it makes you feel like shit. Rather you feel more thoughtful than anything.
Overall: 9
It certainly isn't perfect, but it comes damn close. This show is really fantastic, and short enough to finish on a slow boring day. If you haven't seen it, go watch it. Seriously, right now, it's on Crunchy Roll. Sit back, relax, and enjoy this simple little story about a 30 year old man taking care of his 6 year old Aunt.

I love this manga. For soooo many reasons. It's so cute, funny, and entertaining. It's a little romance with food, what could go wrong?
Story: 9
It's about a girl who loves to eat and loves to help people. One day she decided she can help people by helping them make bentos for the people they like. But she really isn't a cook. So she enlists in the help of her classmate that she's all tsundere for and romance ensues.
It's kinda obvious how the story moves along. There's no real surprises, nothing too new to the general "I help other people but I can't help myself"
...
kind of plot. It just does it so well that I can't hate it for it. But hey, it gives you the recipe of what they make in the manga at the end, so that's a plus!
There's something specific to this story that really, really got me. Something that lands it that nine. One of the chapters is about an over weight girl and her crush. Typically you don't see over weight girls in shows/manga like this really being anything other than comical relief. But in one chapter, one of the girls she helps is over weight and very insecure about what she eats in front of people. She loves food but refuses to show other people that she does due to her insecurity. I connected to that on soooo many levels and I kinda don't wanna spoil her story for you guys, you should totally go read it and see.
Art: 10
It's pretty fantastic, for a romantic/dramatic/comedy about food. I have no comments other than It's pretty great. There was effort put into it, and a lot of love too.
Character: 10
The characters are fantastic. Period. The main characters all have progression, they all learn something and overcome something that changes them as a person. As much as you've seen these characters before in many other manga alike, these are kinda special. You won't forget how happy you were for the main character when she was able to (Insert Spoiler Here). You actually care about what happens to them and it's pretty great. Also characters don't disappear into an abyss. Supporting characters do make other appearances whether to help out the main character or just to be around. That's pretty great.
Enjoyment: 10
I read this twice. Once like 3 years ago, and once a few months back. I think I loved it more than I did the first time I read it the second time around, maybe I appreciated it a little more. It's just a good, heart melting read. I recommend it to anyone that likes a good romantic comedy.
Overall: 10
I enjoyed the hell out of this manga. That's pretty much it. it's cute, silly, and it's about making food! What more do you want from life?

I love romances. I really do. I enjoy sitting down and letting my brain melt over these silly little animu relationships.
Chobits is not a romance.
Chobits is not some sort of intellectual look into if robots were real and sentient.
Chobits disappointed me. Chobits is a fetish show. A rip off of a fetish show.
Story: 2
If you enjoy watching a brain dead girl walking around saying underpants over and over again, this show is for you. If you enjoy ecchi and porn, this show is for you. If you were told, like me, that this show discusses how robots and humans would become in a
...
futuristic society, you were deceived. The plot likes to shove morals in your face constantly and then in the end basically says the morals apply to everyone but Chi because Chi is Chi.
Yeah. Also, two random recap episodes. Or maybe three, I honestly don't care enough to go back and look. There are bits and pieces of promising plot, but sadly it's overshadowed by ecchi and fan service. I'd say a good 95% of the show is a perverts dream and the last 5% is plot progression. Then it just kinda gives you the middle finger in the end.
Art: 6
I mean, it isn't horrible. It's pretty a lot of the times. But it can also be kinda lazy at times. It's weird.
Sound:
Other than the opening song, which literally became a joke between me and my cousin through our slow decent into insanity as we watched this show, the music isn't terrible. It typically fits the mood.
The English voice cast was in and out. Some characters did well, and others made you cringe at the sheer inability to read a line. From what I remember the Japanese voice cast is okay.
Now here's the thing, and this is probably going to be a bit of a spoiler but honestly it doesn't matter you probably will guess what's going on by the second episode. Chi's personality, even by the end of the show when she "fully blossoms" is robotic in nature. She speaks, acts, and is just obviously a robot. DESPITE supposedly being the only robot that has emotions. But then you look at the little robot that follow Hideki around that was his neighbors robot (Again I honestly don't care enough to google it's name) Has WAAAAAAAAAY more personality than her. She was the only character I liked and I don't even remember her name. Speaking of which...
Character: 1
I don't think I've ever thought that characters could get this cardboard cutout and predictable. There are no round characters. No one learns anything. Hideki has morals shoved in his face but he igores them anyway and does the exact opposite, despite being told it will only bring despair. "But DellaDellsies," You say, "It was for LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE!"
... NO. IT WAS NOOOOT FOR LOVE. IT WAS FOR HIS LUST. THERE IS NOOOOTHING ABOUT CHI TO LOVE. HER PERSONALITY IS LITERALLY SHAPED BY HIDEKI. EVERYTHING she knows is what HIDEKI told her. He does not love Chi, he loves what he made her out to be. Because she is a ROBOT and can DOOO THAAAT. This was not a story about love, it was a story about an idiot not listening to any of his friends and choosing a man made, perfect girl over any other human girl. THAT'S IT.
AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON CHI. "Underpants! Underpants! Underpants! Underpants! Underpants! Underpants! Underpants! Underpants! Underpants! Underpants! Underpants! Underpants! Underpants!" I'm going to leave it at that because I honestly don't know how to put it without making even worse spoilers than I have already put.
Enjoyment: 3
There were some side characters and side plots that were interesting, but it never stuck around and was over shadowed by the bland, boring Hideki and the annoying, sexual Chi. I got nothing but anger and disappointment from this show.
Overall: 3
If you want to experience this for yourself, go ahead and do it. But honestly I believe it's a waste of time. It has sooooo much potential and it just fell flat on its face. Literally there were times when my cousin and I were just like "Okay THIS will be the scene that wows us!" and it just falls flat into a boob or fingering joke. The comedy was flat, the plot just went in circles until the last episode where it literally shoved the whole plot into your face then continued to suffocate you with giant tits and a moral that is tossed into the garbage. By the end of it you just kinda break.
Or at least my cousin and I did.
Her ringtone on my phone is now Let Me Be With You out of sheer spite of making me watch that show.

Okay so let me explain you a thing here.
I'm very close to dropping this show. VERY close. And there's a lot of reason's.
Story: 7
At first it seems like your typical high school romance, until they drop a bombshell on you. And I love that, it makes things interesting and entertaining. BUT. BUUUUUT. There are a few things that urked me. I can't spoil anything so I can't exactly tell you what but trust me if you're sane you will understand what I mean. Around episode 16 things just kinda get grueling and unless you're team Yano you're going to be so very angry
...
with Nanami your head may explode.
Art: 4
To be blunt, it kinda sucks. The animation is choppy, majority of the time characters only have one eye or no eyes (Which is very lazy) and the ears.... oh god the ears. It's like Yaoi fingers but on a head. Typically I can get passed this and enjoy the show but there will be times when I just kinda sigh at the very lazy attempt at drawing.
Sound: 7
Your atypical cheesy romance songs. Nothing too special, but it does fit the show. Might have been rated higher if they didn't overuse a very annoying "lalalalalalalala" track whenever I'm trying to enjoy a cute scene.
Character: 10
Now let me tell you a thing. Let me tell you a big thing. This show isn't just some silly romance. It is very much a journey into the mind of a young teenage boy who has to deal with a lot. Okay. This show may SEEM like it's about some silly little high school romance, but let me tell you a thing, NOTHING in this show is okay. Once you realize the main characters name is the same as another characters, things will click and you will realize just how bad things are. Again, don't want to spoil anything, but just know that these characters are VERY real and VERY understandable. You WILL get attached to them and feel for them.
Enjoyment: 6
It's be a spoiler to explain this. But I was enjoying the show until a certain point where things just get dumb and then I decided to read the comment section and I realized just how much I hate fangirls ignorant, blind, prepubescent hormonal raging lady boners for characters. I found myself getting more angry with the characters and their choices rather than actually being happy for them. I started to ship something other than the main ship which is always an issue with these types of shows because you begin to understand how horrible the main relationship ACTUALLY is. By episode 16 I stopped enjoying myself and rather I began hating the show and coonsidering just stop watching it all together because I knew EXACTLY what was going to happen and I didn't like it.
Overall: 7
To anyone who thinks logically, I recommend watching this show until around episode 15. Anything after that will cause rage and have you take out that rage on a myanimelist review. I wanted to love this show but it was really hard in the later episodes. My hated for Yano just pilled up until I couldn't take it anymore and when I went to go discuss and confirm my rage it only made me angrier.
If you're just looking for a mind numbing romance and you're not looking into plot, then I invite you to dive right in.
