Waited until it was over and people stopped hyping it up so I can judge it as objectively as I can for myself, but even so, my expectations were huge because of what people said about it.
For me, this anime is the embodiment of true mid, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Most anime do great things and bad things, which results in an average between 2 extremes when it comes to the score. But not Frieren. This show minimizes both extremes.
Did it do bad things? No. Very minor nitpicky things only which can be ignored.
Did it do great things like
...
ppl hyped it up? Absolutely not.
Was the story lacking in relevant detail or have asspulls? No, just very minor things which could well be cut content from the manga
Did the story have mind-bending plot-twists or something that no other anime has done before? No.
Overall it's a solid slice of life story set in a fantasy world, based on the passage of time with some comedy and fights sprinkled here and there.
If this was a no-name show in which I would've gone in blind, then I would probably rate it higher, but people put it up there with the most legendary anime I ever saw like FMA, Steins;Gate, Monster, Madoka, Oshi no Ko and other 20 titles. The fact that it didn't live up to the hype is a huge disappointment, so I can only say that she show is good, but nothing extraordinary like ppl claim.
So, do you want a chill slice of life fantasy based story about the passage of time? Go for it.
Is it as good as other titles ppl compare it to? Absolutely not.

After S2 where I barely understood anything, as it had LN adaptation problems (from my understanding at least), S3 was better adapted from what I felt, but still felt really fast, leaving details outside the story and things just "happen" without much of a proper set-up beforehand.
It also doesn't help that it felt more like a filler season, where nothing major happens in term of "end game" plot, we're just running around trying to tick tasks off our lists of "to do".
What I really enjoyed was the animation and that opening. Really big improvement and it hyped me up for it. That alone
...
deserves a 9, but sadly if I mix the story in, everything goes down to a 7.5, and I gotta round it down because I'm tired of shows with bad plot/adaptation that just use animation to try and save everything.
This is clearly an anime for light novel readers and I bet they're really enjoying it. For anime-only watchers, eh.... I enjoy it with my brain off. But if I try to think about the plot or try to guess things, everything falls apart.

Who would I recommend this anime too, or who was this anime made for, or who can get the most out of watching this anime?
Ok, here's the picture. Imagine you're between 25-35y old. You got a job, some money, but there's always the thought in the back of your head that one day you may lose your job, end up alone with no money.
This anime is like a gentle hug, that tells you it's ok if you end up poor, because look at these sisters. They live very frugal and try to make the best out of their condition. As long as they
...
have each other, their love can conquer any hardship.
Yes, sometimes they don't understand each other, sometimes they interpret their feelings or situations the wrong way, but in the end, they only have each other, and all other problems in the world don't matter, as long as they can be together and happy.
This is one of those anime where I wish my own life was more humble and that I had a pure little sister that can rely on me and that I can rely on. In a world where every hour of my day revolves around clients, how to increase profit, how to please my bosses, how to deliver better results, this anime tells me that you know what? All of the "problems" in my life are actually not problems. These sisters, poor as they are, are enjoying life way more than I am which is a nice contradiction. Gaining money won't make you happy. These girls experience true happiness every day
At least that's my take on this anime. Also read the manga. Feels unfinished but oh well, overall it's a really nice life story.
If you're watching this in 2024 or even future years, I want to congratulate you for giving it at least a chance. It's an old, forgotten anime, that I never heard about. Only discovered it after casually browsing titles.

The movie is overall "good", I give it 8 for 2 reasons, each reason being 1 point minus.
1. The movie should've aired before S3. This is basically the story that lacks in S3 that explains the status quo of the season.
2. The movie didn't really bring anything new in advancing the major plotline. It's just ol' Sybil doing Sybil shit again, and ppl around it wondering if it's a good or bad thing. This is the formula used too often after season 1, and it's getting kinda predictable.
Other than these 2 things, the movie is alright, loved how it had so many
...
characters in it from other seasons too, and some specific character interactions that we didn't get in a long time. The backgrounds are gorgeous.

This anime is a nice commentary about how AI could influence our life in the future, and if that is a good or bad thing.
The good part about it is how it explores different scenarios of "what ifs".
That being said, it also had a "anime plot" that was really bad.... no conclusion, no explanation, no reveal of some kind of masterplan that it was hinted at. In that area it fails.
Still, if you want to see the challenges humanity could have if AI becomes even better, I recommend you watch it. Just don't expect the main plot - anime part to be
...
good.

I grabbed this title after finishing Oreimo (which I liked).
What to say about Eromanga... as a stand alone anime, it doesn't really do anything to set it apart from a generic story. You got your stepbro/stepsis that aren't actually related, some otaku culture, cute/ero scenes, a very light sad backstory and.... that's it. We didn't even get an answer about why Sagiri (girl MC) doesn't want to come out of her room. If I had to rate it as a first watcher, it's maybe a 6.
Now, if you watched Oreimo, you will enjoy this story much more. Basically it feels like an anime made
...
for Oreimo fans that wanted more. But the thing is, there are a lot of Oreimo fans that like different things. You may or may not find those things here. I personally don't find what made me love Oreimo (the drama, mindfuck and serious moments).
If you like waifu wars, ecchi things and want to know more about the light novel part of the otaku culture, you might like this. Fair warning tho, the waifu wars are incredibly rushed, as it's just 12 episodes. We get barely any time for character development, these girls just jump on the MC cuz why not, he's there.
Besides these, there are many elements imported from Oreimo like character designs, animation, plot details where the Oreimo author inserts himself and talks about his experience as an author (even writing Oreimo), etc.
I liked the easter eggs with their special message too (Oreimo fans know)
So for this, I'll give it a 7. It's a good anime to watch after watching Oreimo to help you get over post anime depression. But otherwise, it doesn't stand out as a good story on it's own, too generic.

I saw all the anime today, including the OVAs. Took a peek at the game endings and read about the production of the story.
This is my personal experience with the show, that I think it's different from your usual take. Here's the context.
I personally left the anime community years ago for many reasons (offline and online), and now I follow my own rules when I watch anime. Not to bore you with it, but what's important in this case is that I try to make my own opinion based on my personal entertainment with the show and know as little spoilers as possible.
All
...
I knew about this show before I started it is that it has incest and that's why it's bad. Every1 was saying that last time I was in the community so that stuck with me. So I went in with that idea, looking for those specific clues to see how they reach that point.
The story was way different that I imagined it. Nobody told me that upfront there's comedy and otaku slice of life, while under these there were layers of trauma for most characters. Kirino, the sister, had the most trauma out of them all, followed by her brother.
What got me hooker to the show is seeing how they go past this trauma, and became loving sibling even if they hurt each other so much in the past. I never imagined that a certain character was the one that was kinda pulling the strings for them to fail and enabling certain things to happen.
Overall I loved the ride, and my focus was finding all the clues that would explain this trauma or what happened in the past or what the characters actually think about each other and why.
Now, to the ending. At first glance, it sucked, because it didn't make sense. I googled it and found out the author was forced by the publishing company to change his story, that's why it didn't make sense. So I found out what the real story would've been and what the game "real ending" is. Even if ppl say it's not cannon, personally I will take it as cannon, as the story itself ended in an open manner, with hints from the author here and there saying "this is the direction I wanted to go in but these publishers censored me".
What also didn't help is that they cut some content from the original novel when adapting the anime. Nothing "major", the plot still made sense where that part was missing, but the part adds so much context and depth to some characters and the decisions they make. I do recommend ppl read about what was cut, especially the Sakurai Arc, which in my opinion it should've been adapted to better explain from where the trauma started.
For me, I give this anime a 9 because of the trip it gave me, exploring the way the 2 characters interacted, cried, fought for each other, bickered, shared their passion (1 at least), helped each other and for all the loving moments they have. I would've given it a 10 if it didn't have the production issues and censoring.
I didn't care about the major thing people complained about, in my view, when mentioning this anime. Because it gave me something much deeper to enjoy and follow. I laughed, I cried, I rolled in my bed from the emotion it sparked in me.
Sure, besides what I said the plot isn't perfect. The brother is kinda dull and can't read a room even if there's a flag in it. The sister is violent way more than necessary. Some characters repeat the same lines it becomes boring and some situations are so stereotypical of anime like accidental bumping into people and seeing girls naked.
But for me all of this didn't matter because I knew from the first episodes and from the opening lyrics that something big is brewing under all of this. Rare lines that the characters say, something like "Don't you dare start acting like a brother now" carried a much deeper meaning than just insults in a meaningless fight. It payed off for me in the end.
But this is just me. If the only thing you know about this anime is that there's incest and you don't like it, I'd say either don't watch it then, or keep in mind that you got way more content that's better, that's not incest, in the actual story. And depending on what you consider cannon or not, you might assume the incest barely even happened.
If you don't mind incest or you're not sure, I say give it a go. The anime will offer you banger openings, all with different animations and unique endings with different lyrics too that relate to the episode.
And you'll get to explore a story about 2 siblings that got separated by sad circumstances where someone had something to do with it, to keep them apart. But they overcome all their fears and insecurities to reach their ideal world.
I cried when it ended and now got post-anime depression, but it is what it is.

So what do magical girls do after defeating the big evil?
Ofc, fight terrorists, mercenaries, join the army, special forces, etc.... there is no happy ending here.
That was the basic idea. The fact that they don't really do this and go again to the big evil is stupid.
There isn't any big reason why everything is happening, we're getting scraps about the actual plot and after I finished it I don't really care about it, because the reasons look shallow.
Now, for the parts that I liked. Lesbians, 90% of the girls in the show. And big tits. Huge badonkadonkas. Also, magical spanking.
The
...
eyes of the MC were pretty.
Honestly the anime looks like someone watched Madoka and said: "I can make a sad magical girl show too, with lesbians, huge tits, guns and pokemon". But they didn't really have anything to make it spark, kinda just did their thing
A decent 7, show wasn't bad at all. It was good, but didn't go beyond the "not fucking up" level. Maybe it had an 8 from me if they actually explained more wtf is happening and made some reveals but it is what it is I guess. It's like fast food, you know it's bad but you eat it, enjoy it, then forget it next week.
Opening was a banger, and naming the MC support character "Kurumi" - walnut was cute.

Strong points of the anime:
- cute
- overall looks good
- may give you "the feels"
Weak points:
- plot is really dumb. Not to spoil much but I wouldn't let this girl handle cleaning a bathroom urinal. She must be costing her parents thousands or tens of thousands of $ each month on glasses. She's lucky she lives near the school, or a car will isekai her at the first crosswalk.
- the dude is a huge simp. All he cares about is her looks and her hair, that's it. Doesn't care about knowing her as a person, even when she's in trouble and needs something specific this
...
guy is daydreaming about how pretty is it.
That being said, I wanted to give this show a go because I liked how it looked. It was above average pretty. But I couldn't take the plot serious after she forgot more than 3 times her glasses in a few episodes. I can see kids between 9-14 enjoying this, especially if it's one of their first romance anime that they watch. But for me, the only fun I had was laughing at how stupid the girl was. And I also enjoyed the visuals.

I really really REALLY wanted to give it a 10, but after finishing this part , I just get the feeling that things were left out. I read the manga like a decade ago, and while I don't remember the details, I KNOW that we should've seen some particular fights and new reveals back in Seireitei before they went to the King's Palace...... am I remembering wrong, what's going on? Did they cut the content? Some reveals are really huge so I can't believe they done this. Maybe I'm remembering wrong, or maybe they will rearrange the events timeline tho that makes no sense because
...
some people that are now in the king's palace should be down in seireitei, will they just force them down again for no good reason? It's just a complicated mess....
Anyway, besides cutting content, everything else is a 10/10.
