How do I put this? This show is undoubtedly the most stupid ecchi/romance/comedy show I have ever seen. I went into this show expecting a trashy fun time but, least to say that was not the case. There are so many moments in this show of exponentially nonsensical one-uppage that, instead of leaving me laughing, it left me in shock. Furthermore, the romance in this show frankly makes no sense at all. The plotline feels like something made by an alien race who sped-run a romance movie at 8x speed. This shows spice counter is completely off of the Scoville scale, I may revisit this ... show again when I need to wake up because this show is better than coffee.

I'm going to be honest, I came into this show expecting a generic Isekai that I could trash on. However, I have to say that my expectations were somewhat subverted. While the shows plotline might be similar to that of other Isekai or fantasies (with particular similarities in the earlier episodes to goblin slayer) the characters in this show are completely different from other Isekai. In reality, it feels as if the show is a fantasy first and the Isekai aspect is just a tacked on afterthought. Fran, feels more like the main character than Shishou(the person who was reincarnated) ever did.

... While this show is not going to win any rewards for complex plotlines, animation, or music it possesses what I could call a subversion of the darker aspects of the Isekai genre that I found as a pleasant change of pace. In a sense, this show is what you would get if you inserted "moe" into the Isekai genre and the results are really wholesome(at least thus far). Shishou's kind nature and helpfulness towards Fran is really cute and I cant wait to see where the show is going to go.

This is one of those "so bad its good" type of shows. The plotline sucks, the characters are generic as possible, and this show follows in the footstep of others. However, the way that the show presents itself is put forth in such a way that it becomes entertaining. The interactions between the characters are so nonsensical that it becomes a great "popcorn show". The whole premise of the show itself is trash which helps elevate the show past the realm of trashiness itself. While, in reality nobody is going to be putting this show on their top ten list anytime soon its still worth ... a watch.

I went into this show expecting it to be absolute trash. However, I actually found my expectations subverted. This show actually had a decent plotline which is rare for shows that are this fanservice centric. This show is definitely not for everyone but I actually found it to be really entertaining. While many of the characters follow standard tropes, I found them to be quite entertaining. Furthermore, I found that as the show progressed its plot began to become progressively better which is always great. The antagonists are actually somewhat mysterious and are built up quite well which is also rare for this type of ... show. I would recommend you to give this show a chance.

I am going to be honest, I don't fully understand why this show is loved to such an extent. (although to each there own). Personally, I thought that the Steins Gate anime (not to be confused with the VN's) was ok at best. The plotline for the first few hours worth of episodes consists of slow worldbuilding. This wouldn't have been such an issue if it weren't for many of the main characters being so unlikeable. I personally really don't like Rintarou as his random unintelligible outbursts makes him sound like he is constantly on shrooms or some other hallucinogenic substance. The anime specifically ... makes it really hard to distinguish between if he is a intelligent individual or a stupid idiot fumbling around making stuff up as he goes. This, in combination with the lack of any source of meaningful plot developments for the first few hours worth of content leads to a really boring first half of the show. The second half of the show however, actually has a really interesting and entertaining plotline sadly being stained by Rintarou's unpleasant character. Thus I had made the relatively tough decision(given the amount of positive reactions and love toward this show) to rate the anime as a 5/10. The time commitment required to get past the "setup" portion of the plot is extensive and I would have rather them shrink it down to 3-4 episodes of length.

I am going to try to keep this review short for any potential viewer of this show: The first 3 or so episodes are actually entertaining and showed quite a bit of promise, however, after that the quality of the content within each episode seemed to exponentially drop. While the first episodes are really cute and wholesome, the following episodes become boring, poorly paced, and outright "cringe" at times. It is a shame honestly, as the series initially had so much potential but it all seemingly went to waste. In all honesty its a miracle that I actually completed this show and I have no ... idea how or why I did so. If you are like me, episodes 4-12 are a complete waste of your time and I would highly advise against subjecting yourself to watching them.

This show is outstanding, I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys watching sci-fi or adventure. Thus, I will give a rundown/summary of basic points that the show does right and/or wrong.
The characters in this show are great and extremely likeable. They are extremely interesting to watch interact with each other as they progress throughout the story. The plotline of the show isn't too complex but its still solid and has some twists that are hard to expect. (Additionally if the plotline was changed to add ... more complexity it would probably result in the show feeling rushed, which would be bad.) The show itself is perfectly paced in my opinion, never overstaying its welcome and fits perfectly into the 12 episode season. Furthermore, the artstyle of this show is visually unique and I greatly enjoyed the visuals. The soundtrack was meh but in all honesty that is far from the deciding factor of a show. The fight scenes, while not being the "focal" point of the show, are reminiscent of scenes in attack on titans and are highly enjoyable.

I concerningly cannot identify what about this show makes it so entertaining for my monkey brain, but all that I know is it just is. I would highly recommend this show as its full of entertaining skits that oftentimes tie together across the series with (potentially) lasting effects. The characters are likeable and are highly enjoyable to watch. I will say that this is also probably the first show that I have watched where there is not a single character that I dislike(excluding shows possessing only 1-2 characters). If you are nostalgic for slapstick comedies this show is right up your ally.

Ok think of the most generic Isekai possible, now imagine it being 5x more generic than that and you got this anime. This show does literally nothing new when compared to prior Isekai shows. The plotline is so bog-standard that even I someone who "occasionally" enjoys a trashy Isekai plot was completely bored out of my mind. This show possesses characters that are mediocre at best, and a plotline that is so obvious you can probably guess the end of the season by episode one. I made sure to watch through the entire show to see if it ended up doing a 180 like some ... shows have in the past but nope! This show is basic and uninspired to its very core. I would highly recommend that you steer clear away from this show unless you somehow have literally nothing better to do with your time.

I'm assuming that if you are reading this review you have already watched the previous season as well as the Dawn of the Deep Soul movie. This Season of Made in Abyss possesses thematically darker undertones than the previous installments. I really enjoyed the change as I felt that it upped the tension of the series. The excellent music from Kevin Penkin is integrated extremely well all-throught the season. The storytelling contained in this season may be the best yet and has a very intriguing plot.

Potential Spoilers past this point: this season of made in abyss added some interesting plot points such as ... the existence of a civilization formed of hollows. The added backstory to this civilization is very intriguing and interesting to watch. Additionally this season had a great finale that almost had me in tears over a character we were made to dislike not just 15 minutes prior.
Absolutely Outstanding.
