Story
"Pretty Face" follows a tradition of absurd manga storylines, such as 'Tuxedo Gin and A.I. Love You," that have never been adapted as an anime. Regardless, these absurd romantic comedies, "Pretty Face" included contribute greatly to the genre of comics known as anime. Thanks to Yasuhiro Kano, the author, do we now fear bus accidents for more reason than just death, could we really become a member of the opposite gender because of such an event? Kano-sensei says, "YES!"

Drawing quality in this series is good but not extrodinary. Many character designs seem generic, in fact i could argue that they all have the same face

with different hair pieces, and I'm not just talking about the twins. Despite this, many of the characters are very cute. Also, fight scenes are done very well, whenever Randou/Yuna creams someone I really feel the pain. He/she is very strong...
Character
The characters themselves do at times follow typical manga formulas but overall are great. Randou is interesting because he has to become a woman, in more aspects than he'd like. The transformation from fumbling over bra hooks to having to remind himself he has a penis is a real journey. Rina is a better example of a generic character. She is your typical girl who obsesses over those she cares about more than herself (See Aoi-chan/ Ai Yori Aoshi). it does get to the point where it is a bit annoying but she has her little charms. the real appeal behind Rina is her relationship with her, or at least who she think is her sister, Yuna, who is actually Randou. it's great to see how intended sisterly love can be misinterpreted. poor Randou...
Overall
"Pretty Face" is a great series to read casually. It's mostly composed of short little stories that at the same time warm your heart and tickle your funny bone [and another bone if you catch my drift ;)]. I definitely think anyone could enjoy it if they are a fan of the genre. it's also a great way to introduce younger people to manga.

Story
Right of the bat "Heroic Age" seeems like any other space opera. However, it has arich story that derives many of its elements from Greek mythology, ecspecially Hercules. The plot itself has enough twists, turns, and tragedy to keep the audience wanting more, after the initial start-up period of about ten episodes. Yes, that's right, it has a slow start. A VERY slow start. Regardless, once it gets going it is hard to stop watching, unless you're Jupiter (inside joke). I can honestly say it is one of the msot clever loose adaptions I have ever seen.

tat sometimes it's hard to tell what is handdrawn. Usually, I would disdain from this practice but this time around I didn't mind it so much. It may just be because I am growing weary of arguing for handdrawn and against CG. The character desgins and other 2D aspects of it are done well, some characters are pretty generic but others really stay with you: Age, Mehitaka, ect. Also, the Heroic Race's mech desgins (though they are technically not mechs) are some of the most original and I must say, BADASS, desgins I have ever seen. Bellecross, ecspecially.
Sound
Nothing special sound wise. The opening theme is good, catchy even, but not really memorable. Any background music suits the show but isn't a draw. Voice acting is good, they really had a talented group of actors. Yui Ishikawa did a wonderful job with Princess Dhianeila.
Character
What I really like about "Heroic Age" is that, like many Miyazaki films, it is devoid of any true villians. There are people who do villionous things (Rome Ro, Dhianeila's elder Brothers) but everyone are really just people with their own agendas. All the characters feel as if they are acting int hte best interest of their people, no one is out to destroy the world.
Overall, "Heroic Age" is a wonderful series. It does has a slow start and has sort of an acquired sci-fi taste. It isn't for everyone, I would reccomend ir more to sci-fi fans more than traditional anime fans. However, if space operas are your thing, than this show is for you.

"Chi's Sweet Home" is so sweet that cute and sweet that i wouldn't recommend it to diabetics.
Story -
Being a children's anime plot isn't a key factor of the series but regardless of that it has a very nice little story. It's really great how one three minute episode can leave you rolling on the floor with laughter and the next will have tearing at your hair at anticipation. Some episodes will even having you balling like a baby.Also, the series actually has many realistic themes and will really hit home for anyone who has ever raised a kitten (litter box training, shedding, opening

screen doors, ect.). The only complaint I have plot wise is that the end leaves many questions unanswered but I guess that's why the sequel is being released this month. ^^
Art -
What I like about the animation of "Chi's Sweet Home" is that it is consistently good. Many series have very smoothly done animation, half of the time. At certain episodes that have more plot relevance than others they suddenly get a budget increase. However, with this series the audience can always expect very cute animation. This can probably be accredited to it's three minute runtime.
Sound -
Probably the most adorable freakin' opening theme. I'm sorry, but it's true.
Characters -
The characters are very simple but it's amazing how the audience will grow attached to them over the 104 episodes. The cast is small but satisfying. Our main character Chi, aka the world's most adorable kitten and then her adopted family the Yamadas (no, not as in the Ghibli film by Takahata-sama). The family is made up of Yohei, a model child and a sweet kid, Mother, who tries to take care of everyone, and the easily excitable Father. About half way through the series, just in time to keep it from getting boring, come Blackie or the black bear cat, who teaches Chi about being a feline. Overall they all do a wonderful job bringing such a cute little show together.
In conclusion I highly recommend Chi's Sweet Home to anyone who likes animals, children's anime, or just love to go "awwww!"

The first thing I'm going to say is that I am a fan of Akamatsu-sensei's work and may be a bit biased. Now, the next thing I am going to say is that Xebec did not do "Negima" the justice it deserves. Why? There are several reasons.
For starters, the character designs throw you off right at the get go. Any Akamatsu character, more specifically females, have a sensual feel to them. Xebec's designs lacked that. The cheacters looks stiff and unnatural.
This leads me to my second point, there was no fan service. An story from Ken Akamatsu without fan

service is like a cold bowl of ramen, it's just damn disappointing. What's worse is they include Negi's sneezes that reveal Asuna's panties but leave out said panties. When I first saw this I thought it was edited and actually e-mailed Funi to learn it was uncut.
The Japanese dub was very well done. All the girls sounded very natural and like what i imagine a class of Japanese jr high students would sound like. The English dub however, I cannot say the same. No usually I hold Greg Ayres in good standing i believe he did poorly with Negi. He spoke so quietly taht at points i couldn't understand him and the accent sounded ridiculously fake. I couldn't get enough of the opening song though, however I have a bias toward that type of music.
So you may ask yourself why i gave the series an '8' if I had so many quarrels with it. Well, the truth is it was still the story and characters that I love. Also, the ending was done very well, even if the rest of the story wasn't, and proobablly made the overall difference of a '7' and an '8'. The last five or six episodes are a very intense watch.
Overall though it's not hard to see why SHAFT was able to remake the series. I recently saw the trailer for the second version and actually watched two of the OVA's that go along with it. It looks like an improvement so I'm very anxious to see how it turns out. And if nothing else has changed, ladies and gentlemen WE HAVE FAN SERVICE. I give you...Asuna's panties!

For starters, I wouldn't suggest anyone watch 'I"s' without first having read the manga or watched "I"s Pure." I"s is a great OVA because it takes our normal characters (Ichitaka, Iori, Itsuki, ect.) and places them in a rather bizarre, epic, and totally tense situation. It'd say a little more but it'd totally ruin the shock vaule of the OVA. However, I will tell the audience to be ready for anything, and I mean anything.
Art wise, everything is done pretty well. It's very fluent rather than being flashy like other shoujo anime. The colors are very pale and natural looking and it reallt sets you

at ease. I feel it really fits the tone of the story. The soundtrack is descent, not bad but nothing that really grabs you from the start either.

I cannot believe it has really been eleven years. It seems like just yesterday I saw "Wrath of the Dragon" and "A Hero's Legacy." Though it's true, Goku and company are back in the latest installment of Dragon Ball: Dragon Ball: Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!!
First off, I'm going to solely recommend this to existing Dragon Ball fans. 9/10's of the enjoyment of this special is the nostalgia it emits. For starters, almost the entire main cast is featured, from Goku and Vegeta to Old Kai and Bubbles the monkey (who, as we all remember, passed on many a year ago thanks to
...
Goku). However, there is the odd absence of Tien and Chaozu. This really bothered me, not because I am a particular fan of the Crane School, but just because I respect the roles they had to play in both "Dragon Ball" and "Dragon Ball Z". Although, seeing the faces of all the other characters did warm my heart.
Another nostalgic aspect of this chapter, is that they revive the "Dragon Ball" humor and incorporate it into "Dragon Ball Z" style fighting sequences. You might say they took both series and did a fusion-ha....no applause please.
The story of "Dragon Ball: Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!!" isn't that impressive. However, the audience does get to meet Vegeta's long lost little brother, Tarble. This is as interesting as it is cheesy but I'm just glad to know there was at least one more stupid monkey out there that Freeza wasn't able to finish off.
The old theme song is back with new animation to fit the time period and I honestly believe it couldn't have been done better. However, I do take up issue with the Japanese voice acting. Though, this is probably just because I grew up watching the dub on Cartoon Network, I just can't get over the fact that Goku sounds like a little girl. And it's not just because the voice actor if Japanese and has a higher pitched voice than we westerners do, Goku actually sounds like he's being voice by a twelve year-old girl.
Now the animation is the one aspect of this special that fails in almost no way. It's wonderful to see Bird Studio breathe new life into classic characters. If nothing else, watch this anime to relive something that you've possibly long forgotten, I promise you won't be disappointed, unless you're a Tien or Chaozu fan, then don't watch it.

If you're the kind of person who likes short sadistic stories about jealousy and lust involving kitchen appliances, than I highly recommend "The Female Fridge No.1." It only takes a few minutes to read, so if you have a few minutes and feel like saying, " WTF" then definitely give it a read.
The art is only so so, but the concept will keep you entertained for the five minutes it takes to read it. Also, the ending will chill you to

your core. You won't be able to sleep. I haven't seen the insides of my eyelids in weeks. Help me! Some, please help me! The fridge! The fridge!

Gurren Lagann is one of those series that only comes along every once in awhile. It's a show that really grabs your soul and sets it ablaze. If you’re ever entering a battle or sporting event, I highly recommend watching an episode or two of Gurren Lagann before hand to pump your self up, it's totally inspiring.
Story wise, when you begin watching the series you initially think that it's not supposed to be taken seriously. However, after a few episodes the sheer "epicness" of the plot and characters pulls you in and it becomes the ultimate story which must be handled as a serious matter.

It's also something that borrows, or rather parodies other mech and apocalyptic series. Even so, it incorporates these elements in a way that only contributes to its originality. It's everything you've come to expect from Gainax (FLCL, Eva, Abenobashi).
The characters really are the soul of the show. It could be said Gurren Lagann is plot driven but it would also have to be said that the plot is character driven. I swear that you will fall in love with Simon, Yoko, Kitan, Viral, and yes, even sweet sweet Kamina.
The music of Gurren Lagann is another key draw. Songs like "Sky-Blue Days" and "'Libera me' from hell" do more to contribute to the enjoyment of this series than the characters or plot do for many other shows that have been released recently.
Animation wise....IT'S GAINAX!!! Their name has become synonymous with beautiful animation.
Overall, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is series that will reaffirm our faith in Japanese animators. It shows that not everything of late is formulaic crap. Thank you and FIGHT THE POWER!

If you're like me then you know it's hard to find good hentai that doesn't involve rape. Well Imari Rape is actually an exception. Okay, everything starts out like Imari is going to be raped. That's what the audience thinks, the rapist thinks, even Imari probably believes she is going to be raped, but she isn't.
She actually gets aroused by this "assault" and ends up on top of the "rapist" and starts working him over. It's pretty amusing...and a tad arousing...
Now, I'm not defending rape or rapists in anyway. It's a terrible crime of the worst caliber, but this is a must see
...
for all hentai fans. Also, if you're like me an rape hentai doesn't exactly float your boat, then you still may enjoy this. If nothing else the animation is very descent and there is an amusing cinematography effect about half way in.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!
Overall 0083 is a pretty descent. It acts as a bridge for Zeta and the original series. In 0083 a team of ragtag Zeon fleets that honestly act more like terrorists than soldiers to try and topple the Federation. They do use many Gundam cliches though, i.e. a colony drop. However, it is still terrifying and the way Operation Stardust unfolds is brilliant.
The art is everything you've come to expect from Sunrise, in the last two decades anyway. The mechanical designs will blow you away and their fluent movement is positively gorgeous. Takashi Imanishi really knew what he was doing.
The characters really aren't
...
anything different, except the protagonist Kou. He is considerably less emo than Amuro or Kamille. All the other Gundam stereotypes fit. Gato is the ace Zeon pilot who strikes fear in the heart of Feddie soldiers (Char). Synapse is the calm collected captain of the Albion (Bright).
Overall despite the many cliches 0083 is very enjoyable, I recommend it to any Gundam or mech fan. I ecspecially recommend it to fans of Gundam Zeta.
