If you like the idea of a Kakegurui concept without all the weird moaning and odd ball characters then this might just be the show for you.
So far the plot, art and characters are all solid. The characters aren’t over the top albeit it they do fit in to tropes, the plot straightforward but with some nice twists and the art shiny.
Despite being a straightforward plot it adds the same elements as Kakegurui that require you to actually think about what’s going on and how the main character wins his challenges - if you want to get the most out of the anime.

I wouldn’t recommend this to someone who enjoys deep thought provoking or hard hitting anime with intense fight scenes but if you like cozy games or anime you might really enjoy this.
It’s got a good set of characters, each with their own desire to find their own place and leave behind their own little legacy. It’s a relatable feeling which makes the development of the characters heartwarming to see. The main character however does have her annoying moments but it’s ok when you remember it’s like watching a fresh level 1 in a video game. I wouldn’t say this show has any deep plot but ...

First and foremost save yourself the pain and skip the first story. Nothing happens and it’s all just loud screaming that can only be summed up as essentially 20min of Zenitsu and Asta with no breaks.
The manga is definitely far better and the anime skips some of the better ones. Personally I was exited to see ‘whispering woman’ but the animation, by skipping certain shots, misses the creepy feeling and anticipation or twist that the manga brings. The art style however definitely compliments the weird feeling of the stories. Disappointed and not something I’d rewatch, but overall not something I’m unhappy about watching at least once.

A standard isekai story with a strong main character
... or so I thought. It’s worse. The main character has your standard boring backstory and is indeed powerful from day 1, but it goes beyond that. The MC has no need for any sense of battle struggle which leaves a very empty feeling in what they call a fight scene - which really just looks like him kicking around dolls. The worst thing about it is his powers actually make no sense. This is especially true with the thoughtless attempt from the writers at adding in technology. His magic is barriers but he creates robots and tv?? Yes ... |
