You will not, ever in the course of reading this manga, ever guess who the real main character is. It will tickle the back of your mind, nagging at you that there is a recess of information hidden from you but the absurdity of this hypothetical makes it all the more unlikely so you're left in a state of false confidence that you know what is truly going on whilst hidden machinations are at play. You tell yourself, surely a manga wouldn't let THAT PERSON be the main character you delude yourself, your denial is reinforced by the handsome "protagonist" the story follows

I don't care what the mouth-breathers in Anime comment-sections say, this is a masterpiece.
Not for its story or anything, but for its genuine attempt to give one of the most overweight and out-of-shape communities the knowledge to change their lifestyle and improve their life. You'll get a sense of various fitness techniques and dieting principles to allow you to really feel and look your best. While Synecdoche is busy teaching you about metabolic functions you are given the taste of lewd ecchi THICC monster-girls. Also, cut Synecdochesome some slack, the transition between mediums is very tough. Keep up the damn good work.

If you are a film buff, literary critic, or even a fan of Japanese history you will adore this time-capsule. This is classic DragonBall with the addition of a look at the political and economic concerns of the time this piece was created. Observing the various references to fear of Industrialisation we see the Japanese rural perspective on the changes going through their country post-WW2. To see it in anime form is both surreal and fascinating to an educated person. Don't misunderstand me, it is in no way like Princess Mononoke, but it serves to be a very entertaining way to reintroduce the characters of

This anime takes a lot of risks by relying so heavily on exposition. It has such a rich index of lore and backstory that it ends up having to explain so many aspects in such a short time that it doesn't really do a great job of explaining them all. For example, one of my biggest questions was "does the number of legions a Solomon demon rules an indicator of how strong it is?" Or even "what's the difference between Glam Sight and Glam Sight +" (you know what I mean in EP 23.) The design on the magics and especially the Solomon demons

This manga is nothing more than the movie "Carrie" if she wasn't psychic, had 100 Stealth, and could dismember people with the flick of a wrist.
You think there's more than that? There's not, I've given you the entire premise. The characters are forgettable, none of them have a very distinct personality and only serve to push the meager plot forward. Gotta give credit where it's due, the art is absurdly well-done for such a poorly written manga. Edit: Upon reading chapter 16 I take it all back, the sheer brilliance of having Naruto's father as Trump not only makes this the greatest political critique since Watchmen ...

tl:dr You aren't missing ANYTHING of substance if you skip this series.
I would give this review a higher rating if not for the absurd amount of times the lines "He's a Kabaneri" "We can't trust Kabaneris" Here's a tip for screenwriters; if you're not adding anything to the fucking story then don't add dialogue. We know Ikumas a kabaneri, we know they don't trust Kabaneris, you don't have to repeat it EVERY SCENE. It's honestly some of the laziest writing I've seen in my life. The story, plotwise, sounds like something I wrote when I was 11. It's just so baffling bad and is nonsensical. The plot is so, I can't even explain it, it's non-existent. The only reason they try to push the story "forward" is to get to the next ecchi scene. The obstacles the MC must overcome is the most underhyped and easily solved roadblocks in manga history. An obstacle that would normally take 3 chapters to overcome in any well flushed out manga is easily overcome in a single panel, it's nonsensical to say the least.
