As a watcher who hasn’t read the source material (yet) I feel like it was a decent watch, the only criticism I have about the whole thing was episode 2 felt rushed. Many things implied this, the animation was a big one, the style changes, the cuts in story from major events being brushed over.. overall I enjoyed it enough to give it a 6 but personally wouldn’t be a go to recommendation.
Also hate to say this but this is probably the only junji ito related anime that had potential after the first ep…where others dropped the ball within minutes. In my opinion.

Monotone Blue is a sweet yet more dark one shot written by Nagabe with a unique art style. We follow the 2 main characters Hachi and Aoi on them slowly starting to take interest in eachother. This is a BL I found at a comic store and was like "hell yeah gay furries" I'm pleasantly surprised that it is way more then that, the book touches on themes of discrimination, sexuality, SA, and to some extent transphobia.
This is something I'd recommend to some not all based on those things. \ personally found it interesting and it kept me reading. I didn't want to go to much ... |
