Let's start saying this is an anime adaptation of a visual novel released 28th april 2016 for japan while for english language it was released 24th august 2018 on steam (about 2 months later the airing of the first anime episode).

The plot is kinda "complicated" and I saw a lot of hate for this anime for being "confusing" and with "boring characters". While the majority of characters is actually bland, i actually found the plot interesting, so far i also went to play the visual novel because i couldn't bear to wait cliffhangers of each ... episode and trust me when i say you this: the novel is REALLY confusing, with characters making suddens U-turns on their personality making me doubt i was watching other people with the same face; also the "true ending" was really...a letdown so i went back watching the anime, and honestly? Damn at least for me it was MUCH better than the novel! But well let's stick to the anime review.

Story - 7.5
I don't get what's so "confusing" honestly (aside the overabused use of Setsuna and Rinne as names). This isn't your usual slice of life/comedy anime so the plot is bound to be more complicated and in this case we have also different "time arcs". The "main plot" itself definitely makes sense, being an adaptation some details are lost in the way but while they weren't that important for the sake of the main plot, the narration goes quite fast at same point and you need to catch up fast what's happening to fully understand the plot. The first half is quite "easygoing" but the last half get more interesting the more it goes on and ultimately ends in a good way (far better than the novel, which was very confusing ending).

Chararcters - 6.5
While the main "trio" of girls itself it's actually your usual bland group (tsundere, smart loli, kuudere), the main protagonist is very fun to watch bickering with other characters and there is a "secret" character showing up later on which is really a godsend and became the true "important" character later on. Overall score around 5 for the main trio but 7.5 for setsuna and special char.

Overall - 7
While for sure Island isn't the best anime of the summer season it can definitely hold its ground as good love sci-fi drama anime thanks to an interesting plot and main character which gets better the more the show goes on. If you are fine with these premises you should definitely give it a shot!

In short: Save the world -> Save the girl!

And i can't say it better then the protagonist! I thought it was going to be another "trapped in a fantasy world" but guys, how much i was wrong! Before starting to analyze other aspects i have to say this is anime is all a PARODY: flying cabbages, water tricks, soccer with heads and more will make the viewer ask him/herself "what the hell i am watching?" but if you actually enjoy a good comedy look no farther.

Story - 8
The plot itself is the "weak point" for me because being a comedy/parody it's pretty much about giving troubles ... to our party members but HOW those events are developed make it totally very nice to see. Furthermore a special notice goes to how Kazuma (the main character) grows: he learns more skill going on and use them in a very ingenious way making the story even interesting making you think "how will he use his skill now to solve the problem?"

Characters - 9
Absolutly the best point. The members of the "main party" are well characterized and at a certain point of the show you'll think you almost know them for real(VA really did a good job with acting)! Kazuma itself it's one of the best character i have ever seen being able to break many cliche (ex:" don't drink too much or the spell will not work"-he will not drink at all). The sub characters are not well made as the main group but they are there for making you laugh and trust me, they will.

Art - 7
While the characters may be your "standard characters" the animation of spells is really amazing!! It deserves at least 9!( EXPLOSION!) But well i can't rate only relying on spells...

Enjoyment - 10
This is actually subjective but i really liked it a lot. Never got bored, not a single time. Some jokes may be repetitive but never fall on the boring type ("Yes, i am Kazuma" while people start saying bullshits it's always gold)

Overall - 9
And here we are again. It's a fantasy parody for everyone (well the ep 9 is a bit too ecchi, so not really for every kind of audience..): a good plot, crazy characters with a one sane man makes jokes awesome and with a good touch of nice-to-watch skills.
If you like this kind of show you have to give it a try!

This is one of my favorite animes since it got all i search in anime: a good story, good characters, some action and expecially feelings (and no, i am not talking about the usual "i love you").

If it is so good why 8? Because i love the mix of these elements but in truth they are just good, no more and no less: it's like when you try something good to eat but not exceptional, you'll remember only "it was good" without remember every single detail. But let me explain better.

Story - It's not really an original one but more like an original mix of ... many things: a duo team, contagious virus and a discriminated superpowered race (surprise! they are loli). The story has "small arcs" and a very fast pace, often too fast (almost nothing of their past) and many scenes are "condensed" in few minutes (that's probably because it's an adapation and 13 episode were not enough) but it's easy to understand with small "surprises" occasionally.

Character - I don't like loli, really i don't, but you can't possibly don't like good natured people fighting to protect even people who despise them. So, returning to the topic, even if i really don't like loli and these little girls don't have a "deep personality" (except Tina) i think they are more then fine; i want to remember to many of you that are thinking "they are just bland" that they are kids, so don't expect "death note"-like reasoning from them ! About MC (main character) i think it's a bit classic but he faces some interesting "moral choices" making him somewhat interesting.

Action - This is the "weak point" for me. There is a lot of action but is often rushed and for most of the show not really "spectacular": fights here are usually done with bullet, blades and punches; nothing flashy.

Feelings - Here the best point. I don't really think it's an "harem" because unless you are really a pedo you can't really want to marry a little girl so in this anime we are talking about the "true meaning of love". Hey what? Are you serious? I am. I am not kidding. Love is care about others, even enemies: sometimes you got hurt for your misplaced trust and sometimes your love make people better, letting them love other people and the circle continues.

So if:
-you are good guy (i don't think you can understand many things here if you are a selfish one)
-you like action
-you like the seinen

you should watch it!

So reading the tags of this anime (action, sci-fi) you may think (like i did): "Cool! Custom cute robots fighting!"; well that was true, but not the only truth. Most of the anime will lack a TRUE background plot and the fighting scenes are not...really the top...
Let me explain in the deep:

Plot - 5 (i am being good here)
Basically it's a slice of life anime without a defined plot. After the first episode you could see the ep 6, then the 2 and you will notice NOTHING. The only exception to this are some minor arcs of two episodes but that's all; you can see ... the last two episodes after the first one and all will looks just fine. Not a single evolution of events in the whole anime, boring.

Characters - 5
Standards characters: a blond and a blue airheads, the tsundere and the heroine. The master is a totally bland character so they are just "mediocre"

Enjoyment - 4 (that's my personal opinion)
I hate it. The first episode was promising with Ann (the heroine) almost defeating in a fight one of the champion of the tournament but that's all: no tournament, no serious battle. A lot of girls fighting to be pat by their master, looks like an harem -_-'

Overall - 5
Are you ok with a casual plot? Are you ok with characters without any kind of "soul"? Well if you are give a shot. If you are looking for some real action with cool characters click back or close your browser and run away from here.

What's wrong with the name? When i read this title i thought it was on a stupid comical duo with a slice of life plot but a friend of mine said "watch ... it! you are not going to regret it!"; i listened him and i don't regret it.

Plot - 9
Abosolutely Great: A cool shounen with a deep plot and a bit of comedy: the perfect mix for my tastes! The setting is a metropolis where heroes with different kinds of power fight the criminal, sometimes criminal even with superpowers like them. Fights aside they are not machine so plot will show you how they start being hero and WHY THEY FIGHT. Some things are pretty clichè keeping the plot from getting a 10.

Characters - 8
The show it's pretty much focused on tiger, all the other characters (barnaby included), sometimes will looks just "backgrounds" chars and they will do nothing in particular that we'll make you remember them (i mean things like "wow xxx said that cool thing" or "xxx was totally cool"), that's my opinion. So hey, why 8 to characters then? Because even if they "lack" a true personality they are well made: they have their own beliefs , their own goal and their own way to do their job so they are fine while tiger is so far one of the best deep characters ever seen so far: if you like heroes, you are going to like him!

Notes - There are minor flaws, both in the plot and the action. Example of this are: while jumping and run out of power tiger he fell down (if my physics' knowledge is not wrong the duration of the jump depends just from the might of starting jump might (the vector)) and some almost impossible coincidence happen to make the plot more interesting

Overall - 9
Nice show and if you like action and a good plot you MUST ABSOLUTELY SEE IT. I just saw it the 2 time and i really like it; it made me remind why i am still helping people :)

Ok this is hard. GC really looks a cool anime and just my type. After the first episode i was screaming "MORE! MORE!" because i can't ... help love it. After each episode the things becomes more and more "weird".

Plot - 6
The plot it's somehow cool but it rely too much about characters: is this a problem? well yeah, it's the best problem, i'll tell you why later. The action scenes are really well done and the "deep" plot sounds interesting.

Characters - 4
Why? All i can think right now is just ask to writers "why?". As i stated before this anime got a LOT of good promises: a singer and cute girl a terrorist, a boy that got problems about talking with others (or so he stated) and an amazing power: take weapon from people's souls. Mark my word: IT'S A TRAP.
Ok listen: a cute girl come to your home with a weird vial and after a bit the police rush in and arrest her as a terrorist, what you "normal" people should do? Well our protagonist blame himself for not being able to protect her so he take the vial and go to deliver it the terrorist chief, seems legit.
As other helpful reviews says (you should read them too) the proganist is totally too "unstable": he may like a thing, the moment after he dislike it, and the moment later he again like it; he has no time for a clear devolpment.
Other characters are ok: gai it's the best, really the "real" protagonist somehow while izuna got some problems like the protagonist (but she is really cute, even if her battle outfit doesn't look a battle outfit) while other secondary protagonist got everyone a well defined personality, simple but efficient.

Overall - 5
All of this is totally wrong: you can't focus a story on a character that unstable because if you start to hate him, the whole anime become hard to watch. I can't say it's THAT bad but seriosly this "protagonist centered" plot doesn't make me able to watch it anymore. I really loved it from the start so you should really give a try; if you manage to still watch this nonsense protagonist this show may be really a great one.

Personal tastes
I really loved shu, i like that kind of characters and he really broke my heart with this nonsense devolpment. This anime should be a lot better, i am pretty sad.

Plot - 6
I really don't understand. This anime made me dizzy because at first was a "class vs class" like baka test, then it turn toward ... the full harem plot, explaining how girls fall in love with the protagonist and then it become an action plot. I don't understand why this mess...It's not like i didn't enjoy it but it's...confusing. If you don't mind about this "change of tide" it's a fair plot after all.

Characters - 7
Well this is hard: characters are someway a clichè but they are well defined. The protagonist is a good one, full of weakness but somehow smart, and he love his crabs (they were something different from a crab but i can't recall what exactly they were). What disappoint me are the other males characters, they got really a small part in the anime but it's harem after all, so you shouldn't be surprised.
In short: good protagonist, fair girls and few good male characters; not bad at all.

Other details: the ending is awful. I won't spoiler but it cannot be really called an "ending" for me. Fights are not bad at all instead!

Overall - 6
Ok so this anime is worthy? Well it's an harem and if you like harem with some action and with a "not-so-good-but-decent" plot it can be what you are searching for. As i stated before beware the ending...

Personal tastes: i enjoyed it. I like the action and the protagonist was really a good one (he deserves an 8) so for me was a really good anime

Plot - 7
Nice plot. Not something great but totally enjoyable. We are talking about a comedy with a bit of seinen so i am totally fine ... with it. People trying to make friends but they carry problems from their "sad" past. It's nothing so original but as i already stated it's worthy if you are looking for a good comedy.

Characters - 7
They are well designed but not everyone got a real "soul", some of them are the usual clichès but luckily the main characters are good and i was really ok with them.

Other details
The jokes are funny, late some of them become boring but it's not a big deal and art is amazing for my tastes.

Overall - 7
Plot? Check. Characters? Check. Ok good characters in a good plot make this anime a good work, almost for me. If you are looking for a really good comedy you should give this anime a try, you shouldn't regret it.

Personal tastes: Sena is a nonsense character. A blond, beauty girl with a passion for videogames without a REAL friend? Oh, come on!

Plot - 7
Yeah it's not bad at all; it's always an harem so for an harem the plot is totally nice. It is not simple and ... after every episode the plot become more interesting.

Characters - 5
About the girls they are cute and funny and deserve a 7 for how they looks but they totally lack of "soul"; it's like see the usual harem girls, no one of them really was worth of note.
The protagonist IS the harem clichè: cool, kind, good at everything but he got a weakness as he stated "i can't stand when the mood is down"; oh my! That's really a huge weakness in an harem anime.
So because the usual girls and the stereotype protagonist i give a 5: not too bad but totally not good.

Overall - 6
Here is the boy. Here is the girls. If we are searching for a standard harem look no further, it's fair. If you are searching for something more "elite" and with characters well designed you should look elsewhere.

Personal tastes: I totally hate the protagonist, too perfect; he made me sick.

Well, i finally finish to watch this anime. It should be better never seen it. I forced myself to see it until the end and i can see now that it have the most NONSENSE episodes never seen.

Why? Let me explain few things.

-ATTENTION: MAY CONTAIN MINOR SPOILERS(not on the main story)-

1)Abel < Vash
Someone says that Abel is the bad copy of Vash(Trigun Anime). Well it's true, but very very the worst copy seen. In one episode he stated that i had promise(in the past) to not kill no one else. Well in the first episode he kill a vampire telling "you are been executed". In ... another episode airships are attacking a city with a big tank drove by a bad guy. Like often happen, he get mad and oneshot everything.

2)Immortal enemies
The WORST thing in an anime. They had been shotted, exploded, cutted and? They are still here. Ok Dietrich can use dead body BUT THAT BODY WAS EXPLODED WITH THE TANK! The vampire woman that abduct the witch girl was kicked by "Demon-Abel"; now you are a kick-ass freaking demon: if you want kill someone you SHOULD KILL HIM and if you don't want kill him you should take him to prison but NOOO!! Surprise and ambush! She is still alive! I never expected this!

3)Non-sense plot
Radu burn the palace where Lady Caterina hoping that the Vaticano will kill Ion. Ion come back wounded and what he does? He aid him and save his life. Later he go to prepare the boat: 10 mins to take a gun and come back. Perfect time to let Esther and Ion talk a LOT. It was already the dead body? So why the hell he should suffer the wounds?! Just kill Ion! This is only an example, a lot of scenes are non-sense only to show useless things (like the vampire woman revenge only to show that the robot have "feelings")

4)The best scene
Demon-Abel hit hard Isaak Fernand etc etc. He is on the ground heavily wounded. When Abel miss his target he just say "It's time to go", stand up and disappear. A THAT KIND wound SUPPOSE that you cannot move easily but he just stand up and disappear in one second (the disappear skill is like a teleport because no one in the all Vaticano caught him).

This anime's fans will forgive me. It is nice, but only for who doesn't expect a TRUE story from it.
