Both have a pure fantasy adventure vibe to them. Both anime have MCs of a young age with a boy and a girl going on a journey. Merc Storia has a more lighthearted feel while Mahoujin Guru Guru focuses more on comedy. But they both leave you with a smile on your face.

Plastic Memories and Hybrid Child both have human-like 'dolls'. While Hybrid Child dolls 'reflect' the owner, Plastic Memories 'Giftias' have artificial souls with a limited lifespan of 9 years before they are retrieved. Plastic Memories is not a shounen ai, but both animes have bittersweet moments surrounded by the concept of 'love'. While Hybrid Child focuses on the doll growing from love, Plastic Memories deals with the memories of love when time is limited.

Although Mahoujin Guru Guru was made a long long time ago, it shares the same RPG type comedy with Senyuu as well as the occasional gags. MGG tend to have slightly more serious moments and episode length is longer too. Both animes are very comedic and would make you laugh on every episode. Its worth giving a try - even though the anime is very dated compared to Senyuu.
