My Hero Academia is becoming more and more popular over the years. This season has been considered as the best one until now by a lot of people, and we will see if this consideration is well deserved or not. What we can't deny is that My Hero Academia is a great shonen, arguably the best of its generation, and a series with a lot of qualities and strengths, espacially this season. But having a lot of qualities and being a great shonen doesn't make you perfect or excellent either. My Hero Academia has issues and faults that we can't ignore just because of its

qualities and potential, and we will see through this analysis of the third season what prevents it to be excellent.
Story : 6/10
The main issue of My Hero Academia is definitely its storyline and its narrative. It is extremely repetitive (since season one) and always the same thing. We have a school-arc, followed by a vilain-invasion-arc, followed by a school-tournament-arc, followed by a vilain-invasion-arc, followed by a school-tournament-arc... Basically, the narrative is reproduced again and again without a lot of differencies between each arcs and each seasons. The issues are always the same, the main plot doesn't evolve since season one, and so the characters in the spotlight are always the same too. This season of My Hero Academia lacks some kind of originality, because of the repetitive narrative, but also because of the fights and the characters. Despite this, the storyline and the plots stay interesting in some ways and exciting to watch. It is not annoying or bad, just lacks freshness. This season is divided into two parts (like the second one) : first part where vilains invade the training camp, and second part where Izuku and his class participate on another exam to be licensed. The first part is definitely the best part of the season and arguibly the best arc of the series until now. There's a lot of action in this season, but also a lot of suprising things and interesting characters introduced. The arc is dynamic and entertaining, in which we can see a lot of characters highlighted (put in the spotlight) and having their lighting moments (like Kendo and Tetsutetsu from Class B). The second part is less interesting and more generic, but not bad so far.
Characters : 9/10
My Hero Academia biggest quality is definitely its characters. They are well written and nicely, smartly developped. Like Todoroki or Tenya is season two, some characters got a very good development and evolution in this season. Even non-main characters like Kirishima and Tsuyu have been deepened in this season. The relationships between the characters are also very good and fascinating to follow because of how smartly and realistically they are done. A lot of characters have been exploited, but what is really amazing in My Hero Academia is how the characters are realistic and relatable. They are not cliché nor stereotyped, unlike a lot of characters we can see in shonen and nekketsu. It is probably what makes them appealing and likeable. The mangaka obviousely know how to write characters and how to make them lovely. We can see also a lot of characters with a lot of potential this season and this is what makes us so hyped and positive for the future. Among all the characters of the whole series, there are many of them who have a lot of potential and could be very interesting in some ways. From heroes, to vilains, to students or simple humans. Overall, the casting of My Hero Academia is amazing and this is why it deserves a 9/10.
Animation : 9/10
The animation of My Hero Academia is excellent. Not outstanding or breathtaking, but still excellent and super clean. The choreographies are neat and technically very well animated, the animation is overall extremely consistant, solid and lasting. Unlike a lot of action shows, My Hero Academia isn't nicely animated and clean only when there is a fight or in action scenes. It is consistant and clean through the whole season (series) and never disappointing. This is another area where My Hera Academia couldn't be criticized (negatively) because it is really satisfying, deft and worthy.
Besides the animation, the art and the graphism are pretty average, but the design of the characters (chara design) is original and creative.
Sound : 6/10
My Hero Academia's soundtrack is not really good, inventive or impressive. Most tracks are monotone, lack originality and are pretty simple. There is absolutely no risk taking and this soundtrack has no identity (like basically the soundrack of the whole series). We have some relaxing tracks, some dynamic tracks and some scary tracks, but that's it. There is a lack of beauty and particularity in this soundtrack. There's no specifity. But overall the soundrack is not bad, not even close. Some of them are super entertaining and the quality overall is above average.
Enjoyment : 8/10
Personally, I enjoyed the first part a bit more than the second one, but the second one also excited me, pleased me and amused me. Both parts were good and entertaining. I loved to see all the new characters, that I found very interesting and likeable. This season didn't disappoint me and is by far my favorite until now. The fights weren't impressive or amazing, but I liked them because of their simplicity (even if sometimes I found some of them annoying). After episode 21, the season became a bit boring to me because of the umpteenth confrontation between Bakugo and Izuku, that I found extremely redundant, repetitive and annoying, but it wasn't bad either.
Overall : 8/10
