Story:

Gankutsou is probably the greatest revenge anime of all time. This is because it balances the satisfaction of seeing the assholes who screwed over Edmond Dantes get their comeuppance and the human cost of his revenge in the form of the naive main characters. Giving anything else away would be a spoiler as pretty much every episode is part of Gankutsou's plan. My only problem with it is that it gets convoluted near the end and it also could have been a couple of episodes shorter.

art and sound:

The art is incredibly strange and colourful but I always found it quite enjoyable. ... The music is incredible as well and really gives the show its feel.

character:
Gankutsuou himself is one of the greatest villains in anime he is likeable and mysterious enough to always command the viewer's attention and once we finally start to see in his head we see how brilliantly conflicted he is. The main character Albert is annoying at first but develops into a mature and very likeable character determined not to repeat the previous generation's mistakes. Franz is a bro, and Haydee is great too.

Story:
Beastars is one of the most personal, ackward, and intimate shows I have ever seen. It deals with ideas that sound kind of ridiculous when you hear them but the show tackles it with such depth and honesty that you start to care anyway. I mean how do you pitch this idea to someone? "Yeah so it's like a romance but the guy is a wolf and the girl is a rabbit and he kind of wants to eat her." The mangaka probably got his idea laughed at when he was pitching it to shounen jump, I will probably always wonder how ... the mangaka got shonen to pick up their series. Anyway they take their strange and ambitious idea and turn it into an incredibly personal character drama. The worldbuilding is brilliant; half of the planet wants to eat the other half but they all have human intilligence and laws. This has two big positives. the first is that the tension between the different animals makes a ton of sense and the way both sides act is pretty reasonable anyone would fear someone who could and might eat them and anyone would dislike being feared like that, it is hard to figure out whether it is the herbivores or the carnivores that are truly oppressed. The other positive is that the peace is fundamentally built on a lie and is only preserved by everyone going against their natural instincts. The romance is perfect for this as Legosi is characterised by two overwhelming desires, his love for Haru and his urge to eat her. Throughout the show we see him come to terms with his very conflicting emotions and it's handled brilliantly he feels incredibly human and his relationship with Haru develops in a way that always feels genuine. Also Louis is a great deuteragonist and acts perfectly as a foil for Legosi and an interesting character in his own right.

art:
After watching houseki no kuni I realized that 3d anime can be completely gorgeous. This show confirmed that belief as the lighting is great, the movements and animation all looks incredible and because the characters are all anthropomorphic animals they never look awkward like people usually do in 3d anime.

enjoyment:
This is where the show faltered for me. If you watch this and give it a 9 or 10 I could understand that, but I found to much of the show to be painfully ackward. I understand thats the point but I felt like just watching something else multiple times.

Overall I would say my problems with the show are mostly subjective and I would probably recommend it to anyone.

Story
The show has a very well written main character Kousei Arima that manages to seem really depressed without ever being annoyingly whiny, in some ways he's a bit like a better version of Shinji from Neon Genesis, and his character growth and the journey he takes to cope with his mommy issues and also other spoilery stuff it quite great. The other lead character Kaori is also likable albeit less so, she feels a little too much like a typical tsundere for some parts and the show is obviously trying really hard to get you to ... like her, it succeeded for me but she isn't a top tier waifu like Holo from Spice and Wolf. Still though pretty much all of the anime that focuses on these two is completely ten worthy, however they aren't the only two characters who are focused on. Arima's two friends Watari and Tsubaki are both nothing special and the love square that they form with Arima and Kaori where Tsubaki likes Arima who likes Kaori who likes Watari starts off painful and tragic in a good way but quickly becomes painful and downright tiring, there will be episodes focusing on Tsubaki's comparatively uninteresting crush on arima way later in the show that they should be and ultimately the focus on it hurts my opinion of Tsubaki as a character and detracts from the main even that is happening at the time, also they finally solve the whole love triangle with kousei, kaori, and watari way too late as well. However Arima's apprentice is a loveable and fun character who really highlights the growth he achieved, Emi is cute and really should have gotten more time, and Takeshi's arc really only gets one episode and yet it's one of the only ones that adds to the story. So ultimately the love triangles are tiring instead of tragic, and the side characters are mostly just ok, however the main characters are pretty great and their individual story arcs as well as their story arcs are captivating and downright phenomenal, as well as really soul-crushingly sad. Also the show is way too preachy about how the characters should play from their hearts, it just feels patronizing.

Art and Sound
The art is beautiful and often times grandiose enough to fit the tragic story, and the beautiful score. Also the way they show music as a coping mechanism is downright phenomenal, and every time he plays it is scary, intense, beautiful and often downright heartbreaking, as someone who likes classical music it's a complete treat when im not bawling my eyes out. Also the openings are both ear worms while still fitting the bittersweet tone of the series perfectly.

Overall it is a much watch that completely overshadows it's few narrative flaws with it's great lead characters, art and soundtrack.
