I watched this movie totally unprepared for what was about to come . The movie takes place in the year 2019,where social and moral decline rules over humanity.In the movie we see a gang called "capsules" lead by kaneda, a teenage boy.They are a biker gang filled with morally poor teenagers, a producy of an unworking and corrupt government.The leader,Kaneda,is seen wearing a red jacket with a capsule picture behind it.Together with his close friends they race of into the night leaving their cares behind and doing whatever they want.I believe the name capsule represents the ecstacy they feel when carrying out their lawless acts.

racing on the streets,they encounter another bike gang , which causes a fight to break loose.Tetsuo,pressumably Kaneda's best friend, tries to take on the gang leader himself.Everything takes a turn when he encounters an overly aged child ,which causes him to fall off his bike.He is then taken to the hospital where he begins to sweat profusely and experience headaches.After,he tries to run away with his love interest,Kaori,but is met with the same gruesome gang again.He begins to experience more gruesome headaches and hallucinates more.We later learn that he has awaken the power of "Akira".Akira in this case is assumed to be a god , which the revolutioners look up to as a saviour.Kaneda teams up with Kei,a revolutioner, to help infiltrate the lab Tetsuo was in.
Later on in a search for answers,Tetsuo goes power crazy, even hurting his own friends due to jealousy and envy.Some of the revolutioners look up to Tetsuo proclaiming his a the "god" but others disagree saying that he is false.He later finds out that "Akira" wasn't even alive.It is quite linked to today's society and the Christian belief.While driven by his immense power and lack of want to feel inferior.He exalts himself and becomes a god of destruction.He engulfs himself in a world of sinful desires. The people blinded by his deeds continue to follow him , while the corrupt government is overthrown.Near the end we see a light sucking up people and lots of buildings.The light sucks up Tetsuo,who has now become a flesh monster, and most of his followers perish with him.Kei,Kaneda and some others still remain unharmed.
